I want us to go back in our minds to the days immediately before the first coming of Christ. As we all know, God's professed church of that day and age was involved in a deep apostasy. In spite of the fact that God sent John the Baptist, the message of John the Baptist to a great degree was rejected by those who claimed to be God's people. And then Jesus came with a loud cry message, to the same church. The Bible tells us that “He came to His own and His own received Him not”,  in other words, in spite of the fact that Jesus shared a powerful message with His church, with those who profess to be His people, the Bible tells us that to a great degree the work of Jesus was rejected by the church that claimed His name.

 

Saya mau kita kembali dalam pikiran kita ke hari-hari tepat sebelum kedatangan pertama Kristus. Sebagaimana yang kita ketahui, yang mengaku sebagai gereja Allah di zaman itu, terlibat dalam kemurtadan yang dalam. Kendati Allah telah mengutus Yohanes Pembaptis,  pekabaran Yohanes Pembaptis banyak ditolak oleh mereka yang mengaku sebagai umat Allah. Kemudian Yesus datang membawakan pekabaran seruan nyaring, kepada gereja yang sama. Alkitab mengatakan kepada kita bahwa “Ia datang kepada milik-Nya Sendiri, tetapi orang-orang-Nya Sendiri tidak menerima-Nya” (Yoh. 1:11). Dengan kata lain, walaupun Yesus telah membagikan suatu pekabaran yang kuat kepada gerejaNya, kepada mereka yang mengaku sebagai umatNya, Alkitab mengatakan kepada kita bahwa pekerjaan Yesus banyak ditolak oleh gereja yang menyandang namaNya.

 

 

One of the greatest controversies that Jesus had primarily with the religious leaders of Christ's day, was over the Sabbath. As we look at the gospels we find that there was no controversy that Jesus had with the Jewish leaders, with the Jewish pastors of that day and age, no greater issue than the Sabbath. You see, as we examine the story in the gospels we discover that the Jews were keeping a counterfeit Sabbath.

You say, “What? A counterfeit Sabbath?” Yes, they were keeping the right day, but they were keeping it in the wrong way. The Sabbath that they kept was a Sabbath that they had created. It was a Sabbath that they had made, it was not God's Sabbath. It was their Sabbath, it was a sign of the authority of the religious leaders of that day and age. It was a Sabbath made by man not the Sabbath that God had created.

 

Salah satu pertentangan yang paling besar yang ada terutama antara Yesus dengan para pemimpin agama di zamanNya, ialah mengenai Sabat. Jika kita membaca kitab-kitab injil maka kita dapati tidak ada isu yang lebih besar yang dipertentangkan antara Yesus dengan pemimpin-pemimpin Yahudi, dengan kepala-kepala agama Yahudi di zaman itu, tidak ada isu yang lebih besar daripada Sabat. Lihat, jika kita menyimak kisahnya di kitab-kitab Injil kita temukan bahwa orang-orang Yahudi sedang memelihara Sabat yang palsu.

Kalian berkata, “Apa? Sabat palsu?” Ya, mereka memelihara hari yang benar, tetapi mereka memeliharanya dengan cara yang salah. Sabat yang mereka pelihara adalah Sabat yang mereka ciptakan. Itu adalah Sabat yang mereka buat, itu bukan Sabat Allah. Itu Sabat mereka, itu adalah tanda autoritas para pemimpin agama zaman itu. Itu adalah Sabat buatan manusia, bukan Sabat yang diciptakan Allah.

 

 

A few months before Jesus went to the cross a meeting of the Jewish Sanhedrin was held. The Jewish Sanhedrin was the governing authority of the Jewish nation. The dignitaries and the luminaries belonged to this religious body. See, Jesus had just resurrected Lazarus, and the multitudes were following Jesus. The multitudes were excited about the message of Jesus, and the religious leaders were afraid that they were going to lose their power and influence over the people. And so the Sanhedrin gathered together to have a meeting to decide how to deal with Jesus Christ.

 

Beberapa bulan sebelum Yesus disalibkan, Sanhedrin Yahudi mengadakan suatu pertemuan. Sanhedrin Yahudi adalah autoritas yang memerintah bangsa Yahudi. Para pejabat dan pembesar masuk dalam dewan keagamaan ini. Lihat, Yesus baru saja membangkitkan Lazarus, dan orang banyak mengikuti Yesus. Orang banyak bergairah oleh pekabaran Yesus, dan para pemimpin agama khawatir mereka akan kehilangan kekuasaan dan pengaruh mereka atas bangsa itu. Maka Sanhedrin berkumpul dalam suatu pertemuan untuk menentukan bagaimana caranya menghadapi Yesus Kristus.

 

 

In John 11:49-50 we find something that the high priest Caiaphas had to say at that particular meeting of those who professed to be God's church. We're not talking about the Romans, we're not talking about pagans. These are people who were claiming to be God's church.

John 11:49-50, “⁴⁹ And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them…” that is to the members of the council of the Sanhedrin,   “…‘You know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one Man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.’…”  

Their solution was to kill Jesus Christ. Supposedly in killing Christ they would be able to save their nation. Jesus had become too controversial. He had questioned their teachings to a far greater extent than they wanted. They did not like His view of the Sabbath, and so they decided that they were going to get rid of Him, and in this way they would save their nation from falling apart and perishing.

 

Di Yohanes 11:49-50 kita mendapatkan apa yang dikatakan imam besar Kayafas di pertemuan tersebut dari mereka yang mengaku sebagai gereja Allah. Kita tidak bicara tentang bangsa Roma, kita tidak bicara tentang bangsa pagan. Ini adalah umat yang mengklaim sebagai gereja Allah.

Yohanes 11:49-50, “⁴⁹Dan seorang di antara mereka, yaitu Kayafas, Imam Besar pada tahun itu, berkata kepada mereka,…”  yakni kepada anggota-anggota dewan Sanhedrin,  “…‘Kamu tidak tahu apa-apa, ⁵⁰ maupun kamu tidak menganggapnya baik demi kepentingan kita, jika satu orang harus mati untuk bangsa ini, dan bukan seluruh bangsa kita ini yang harus binasa.’…” 

Solusi mereka adalah membunuh Yesus Kristus. Diharapkan dengan membunuh Kristus mereka akan bisa menyelamatkan bangsa mereka. Yesus telah menjadi terlalu kontroversial. Dia sudah mempertanyakan ajaran mereka lebih jauh daripada yang mereka kehendaki. Mereka tidak menyukai pendapatNya tentang Sabat, maka mereka mengambil keputusan bahwa mereka akan menyingkirkan Dia, dan dengan cara ini mereka berharap akan menyelamatkan bangsa mereka dari kehancuran dan kebinasaan.

 

 

We're told in verse 53 of this same chapter 11 of John, that the Sanhedrin at that moment a few months before the death of Christ, pronounced the death sentence against this Troublemaker. We're told there in John 11:53, “⁵³ Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death…” supposedly to save their nation from perishing. But they had a serious problem and that is, that as a religious institution, as a church, they could not carry out their purposes, they could not actually carry out the death sentence upon Christ, because the religious system was not authorized to execute a punishment such as that. And so as a church their hands were tied, so to speak, in executing the death sentence that the Sanhedrin had pronounced against Jesus. And so they needed the help of the State.

 

Kita mendapat tahu di ayat 53 dari pasal yang sama ini, pasal 11 Yohanes, bahwa Sanhedrin pada saat itu, beberapa bulan sebelum kematian Kristus, mendeklarasikan hukuman mati terhadap si Pembuat Masalah ini. Kita mendapat tahu di Yohanes 11:53, “⁵³ Lalu  mulai dari hari itu, mereka bersekongkol untuk membunuh Dia…” dengan harapan demi menyelamatkan bangsa mereka dari kebinasaan. Tetapi mereka punya masalah yang serius, dan itu adalah sebagai sebuah institusi agama, sebagai sebuah gereja, mereka tidak bisa melaksanakan kehendak mereka, mereka tidak bisa benar-benar melaksanakan hukuman mati pada Kristus, karena sistem agama tidak punya wewenang untuk menjalankan suatu hukuman seperti itu. Maka sebagai sebuah gereja, tangan mereka terikat, katakanlah demikian, untuk mengeksekusi hukuman mati yang telah diputuskan Sanhedrin terhadap Yesus. Jadi mereka membutuhkan bantuan negara.

 

 

And so in Matthew 27:1-2 we're told that after the Sanhedrin had met with Christ, they had done an inquisition of Christ, so to speak, Jesus was taken before the political power. Matthew 27:1-2 say this, “¹ When morning came, all the chief priests and elders…” notice, these are religious leaders   “… of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death. ² And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.” So in other words they're saying, “As a church we cannot carry out our purposes, we cannot execute this Troublemaker. So we need to appeal to the power of the State in order to execute our purposes, the death penalty against this Man.”

 

Maka di Matius 27:1-2 kita diberitahu bahwa setelah Sanhedrin bertemu dengan Kristus, mereka telah mengadakan suatu inkuisisi pada Kristus, katakanlah demikian, Yesus dibawa ke hadapan kekuasaan politik. Matius 27:1-2 berkata demikian, “¹ Ketika hari mulai pagi, semua imam kepala dan tua-tua…”  simak, ini adalah para pemimpin agama,   “…bangsa Yahudi bersekongkol terhadap Yesus untuk membunuhNya. ² Dan setelah mereka membelenggu Dia, mereka membawa-Nya dan menyerahkan-Nya kepada  Pontius Pilatus, sang gubernur.…”  Jadi dengan kata lain mereka berkata, “Sebagai gereja kami tidak bisa melaksanakan tujuan kami, kami tidak bisa mengeksekusi si Pembuat masalah ini. Jadi kami harus minta kepada kekuasaan negara untuk mengeksekusi tujuan kami, yaitu hukuman mati atas Orang ini.”

 

 

Now it's interesting to notice that Jesus was accused of sedition against the Roman government. I don't know whether you've ever noticed that, but the Jews went before Pilate they said, “Pilate, this Man said that He's a king.” They knew very well that Jesus wasn't the kind of king that they wanted Pilate to think He was, but they said, “This Man says He's a king, and if He's a king He's a rival of the emperor, He's a rival of Caesar.” And so Jesus was accused of sedition, of causing an insurrection against the Roman government even though Jesus had maintained a clear separation of church and State.

 

Nah, yang menarik ialah kita melihat Yesus dituduh menghasut melawan pemerintahan Roma. Entah kalian pernah memperhatikan itu atau tidak, tetapi orang Yahudi menghadap Pilatus dan mereka berkata, “Pilatus, Orang ini mengatakan Dia seorang raja.” Mereka sangat tahu bahwa Yesus bukanlah jenis raja seperti yang ingin mereka buat Pilatus menganggapnya, tetapi mereka berkata, “Orang ini mengatakan Dia seorang raja, dan jika Dia seorang raja, Dia adalah saingan kaisar, Dia adalah musuh Kaisar.” Maka Yesus dituduh menghasut, menimbulkan pemberotakan terhadap Pemerintah Roma walaupun Yesus bersikokoh dengan pemisahan yang jelas antara gereja dengan negara.

 

 

In fact, in an interview that we find in John 18:36 Jesus clearly expressed His view of the relationship that should exist between the church and the State. John 18:36 we're told this, Jesus is speaking to Pilate, “³⁶  ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.’…”

Clearly Jesus remained aloof from the government of His day. He said, “I came to plant a spiritual kingdom, I came to build up My church upon the Rock. I did not come to meddle or interfere with the political system.” Very, very clearly Jesus had it straight. And yet the Jews wanted to make it look like Jesus was a danger to the State, that He was a danger to Caesar's throne, and that the State therefore had to get rid of Christ because He might be a risk to the Roman government.

 

Sebenarnya dalam sebuah wawancara yang kita temukan di Yohanes 18:36, Yesus dengan jelas menyatakan pandanganNya tentang hubungan yang seharusnya ada antara gereja dengan negara. Yohanes 18:36, kita diberitahu, Yesus berbicara kepada Pilatus, “³⁶ ‘Kerajaan-Ku bukan dari dunia ini. Seandainya kerajaan-Ku dari dunia ini, pasti hamba-hamba-Ku akan melawan supaya Aku tidak diserahkan kepada orang Yahudi. Tetapi sekarang ini, kerajaan-Ku bukan dari sini.’…” 

Jelas Yesus tetap menjauhkan DiriNya dari Pemerintah di zamanNya. Dia berkata, “Aku datang untuk menanamkan sebuah kerajaan rohani, Aku datang untuk membangun gerejaKu di atas Batu Karang. Aku tidak datang untuk turut campur atau mengurusi sistem politik.” Amat sangat jelas Yesus sudah meluruskannya. Namun orang-orang Yahudi mau membuatnya tampak seolah-olah Yesus adalah ancaman bagi negara, bahwa Dia adalah ancaman bagi takhta Kaisar, dan oleh karenanya negara harus menyingkirkan  Kristus karena Dia bisa menjadi resiko bagi Pemerintah Roma.  

 

 

Now what epitomized the view of the Jews and the desires of the Jews, was a man that is found in the title of our study this morning. His name was Barabbas. In Barabbas was gathered the desires of the Jews. He was actually representative of what the Jews ~ what the church of that day ~ wanted. What did they want? What did Barabbas want? Actually Barabbas wanted the church to take over the State, and to establish a new order of things. In other words, he wanted the church to impose religious observances. He wanted the church to be a theocracy that governed the State.

We're told in Mark 15:7 and I’m reading from the King James Version, “⁷ And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them…” and now notice,  “…that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.”

That word “insurrection” means that there had been an attempt to overthrow the Roman government in that area. In other words, Barabbas was guilty of sedition against the Roman government, not Christ. Christ said,  “My kingdom is not of this world.” But Barabbas wanted to make the kingdom of God the kingdom of this world.

 

Nah, apa yang menjadi simbol dari pandangan orang-orang Yahudi dan yang mereka dambakan ialah seseorang yang disebutkan di judul pelajaran kita pagi ini. Namanya Barabbas. Dalam diri Barabbas terkandung semua keinginan bangsa Yahudi. Dialah sesungguhnya yang mewakili apa yang dikehendaki bangsa Yahudi, gereja di zaman itu. Apa yang mereka inginkan? Apa yang diinginkan Barabbas? Sesungguhnya Barabbas menginginkan agar gereja mengambilalih negara, dan untuk mendirikan suatu tatanan yang baru. Dengan kata lain, dia mau gereja memaksakan pemeliharaan ketentuan-ketentuan agama. Dia mau gereja menjadi theokrasi, yang mengatur negara.

Kita mendapat tahu di Markus 15:7 dan saya membacakan dari KJV,  “⁷ Dan ada seorang bernama Barabas yang sedang dipenjarakan bersama mereka…”  dan sekarang simak,   “…yang telah memberontak bersamanya, yang telah melakukan pembunuhan dalam pemberontakan itu…”  Kata “pemberontakan” berarti ada usaha untuk menggulingkan pemerintah Roma di daerah tersebut. Dengan kata lain, Barabbas yang bersalah menghasut terhadap Pemerintah Roma, bukan Kristus. Kristus berkata,  “Kerajaan-Ku bukan dari dunia ini.” Tetapi Barabbas yang ingin menjadikan kerajaan Allah kerajaan dunia ini.

 

 

Ellen White has an interesting statement about Barabbas. She gives several details in Desire of Ages page 733, this is how it reads, “The Roman authorities at this time held a prisoner named Barabbas, who was under sentence of death.  This man had claimed to be the Messiah. He claimed…”  listen carefully  “…He claimed authority to establish a different order of things, to set the world right…”  a new order “… of things, to set the world right…”   and that would be by taking over the reins of the civil power. She continues saying, “…Under satanic delusion he claimed that whatever he could obtain by theft and robbery was his own…” so he was a Law-breaker, he was a thief, and he was a murderer according to this.  “…He had done wonderful things through satanic agencies, he had gained a following among the people, and had excited sedition against the Roman government. Under cover of religious enthusiasm…” Interesting! He promoted sedition, there was actually an insurrection according to this. He was a murderer, he was a thief, yet he had great religious enthusiasm. Once again, “…Under cover of religious enthusiasm he was a hardened and desperate villain, bent on rebellion and cruelty. By giving the people a choice between this man and the innocent Saviour, Pilate thought to arouse them to a sense of justice…” Pilate said, “They're going to see the contrast between this holy and righteous Man and this thief, and this criminal; and they're going to choose the innocent One to be released.” She continues saying,  “…He hoped…” that is Pilate “…hoped to gain their sympathy for Jesus in opposition to the priests and rulers. So, turning to the crowd, he said with great earnestness, ‘Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?’…”

So they had a choice: either the Law-Keeper or the Law-breaker; either the individual who really was in sedition against the Roman government or the Individual who said, “My kingdom is not of this world”. They had a choice. And we all know what choice they made.

 

Ellen White punya pernyataan yang menarik mengenai Barabbas. Dia memberikan detailnya di Desire of Ages hal. 733, beginilah bunyinya,  “…Pemerintah Roma pada waktu itu sedang menahan seorang bernama Barabbas, yang sudah divonnis hukuman mati. Orang itu mengklaim sebagai Mesias. Dia mengklaim…”  dengarkan baik-baik,  “…Dia mengklaim autoritas untuk mendirikan suatu tatanan yang berbeda atas segala hal, untuk membenahi dunia…”  suatu tatanan baru   “…atas segala hal, untuk membenahi dunia…”  dan itu berarti mengambilalih pimpinan kekuasaan sipil. Ellen White melanjutan berkata,  “…Di bawah khayalan dari Setan dia mengklaim apa pun yang bisa diperolehnya dari pencurian dan perampokan adalah haknya…” jadi dia seorang pelanggar Hukum, seorang pencuri, seorang pembunuh, menurut ini. “…Dia telah melakukan hal-hal yang mengagumkan melalui kuasa sataniah, dia berhasil mendapatkan pengikut dari antara orang Yahudi, dan telah membangkitkan hasutan terhadap Pemerintah Roma. Di bawah kedok antusiasme relijius…”  menarik! Dia mempromosikan hasutan, jadi memang benar ada pemberontakan menurut tulisan ini. Dia seorang pembunuh, seorang pencuri, namun dia punya antusiasme relijius yang besar. Sekali lagi,  “…Di bawah kedok antusiasme relijius, dia adalah seorang penjahat yang kejam dan nekat, cenderung kepada pemberontakan dan kekejaman. Dengan memberikan kepada bangsa Yahudi pilihan antara orang ini dan Sang Juruselamat yang tidak bersalah, Pilatus berharap bisa membangkitkan suatu kesadaran akan keadilan pada mereka…”  Pilatus berkata, “Mereka akan melihat kontrasnya antara Orang yang kudus dan benar ini dengan si pencuri dan penjahat itu; dan mereka akan memilih Yang Tidak Bersalah untuk dilepaskan.” Ellen White melanjutkan berkata, “…Dia berharap…”  maksudnya Pilatus,  “…berharap untuk mendapatkan simpati mereka bagi Yesus sebagai bentuk oposisi terhadap para imam dan penguasa. Maka sambil berpaling kepada kerumunan orang banyak itu, Pilauts berkata dengan benar-benar tulus, ‘Siapa yang kalian mau aku bebaskan kepada kalian? Barabbas atau Yesus yang disebut Kristus?’…” Jadi mereka punya pilihan: apakah Sang Pemelihara Hukum atau si pelanggar Hukum; apakah individu yang sungguh-sungguh menghasut terhadap Pemerintah Roma atau Individu yang berkata,  “Kerajaan-Ku bukan dari dunia ini.” Mareka punya pilihan. Dan kita semua tahu pilihan mana yang mereka buat.

 

 

John 18:40 tells us what they shouted out. John 18:40, it tells us “⁴⁰ Then they all cried again, saying, ‘Not this Man, but Barabbas!’…” and then it explains,  “…Now Barabbas was a robber.” In other words, they chose the criminal over the what? The One who revealed the Law in living color in His life.

 

Yohanes 18:40 mengatakan kepada kita apa yang mereka teriakkan. Yohanes 18:40, memberitahu kita, “⁴⁰ Lalu mereka semua berteriak lagi, mengatakan, ‘Bukan Orang ini, melainkan Barabas!’…” kemudian dijelaskan, “…Nah, Barabas adalah seorang penyamun…”  Dengan kata lain, mereka memilih si penjahat di atas siapa? Dia yang menyatakan Hukum dengan jelas dalam kehidupanNya.

 

 

By the way, the Jewish nation also committed fornication. You know in Revelation it talks about the harlot committing fornication with the kings of the earth. Well, the Jews committed fornication with the Roman government. You say, “How did that happen?” Do you remember when Pilate brought out Jesus and Barabbas, and he brings out Jesus, he says,  “Here's your king.” What did they say? “We have no king but Caesar.”

You know, they were rejecting God as their king, and they were committing fornication because they were choosing another king other than Jesus Christ, who was their true King; they committed high treason actually against God.

 

Nah, ketahuilah bangsa Yahudi juga melakukan perzinahan. Kalian tahu, di kitab Wahyu dikisahkan tentang seorang pelacur yang melakukan perzinahan dengan raja-raja bumi. Nah, bangsa Yahudi melakukan perzinahan dengan Pemerintah Roma.

Kalian berkata, “Bagaimana bisa terjadi begitu?”

Ingatkah kalian ketika Pilatus membawa keluar Yesus dan Barabbas, dan dia mengajukan Yesus dan berkata, “Inilah rajamu.”

Apa kata bangsa Yahudi? “Kami tidak punya raja selain Kaisar.” (Yoh. 19:15).

Kalian tahu, mereka menolak Allah sebagai raja mereka, dan mereka melakukan perzinahan karena mereka telah memilih raja yang lain di luar Yesus Kristus, yang adalah Raja mereka yang sejati; sesungguhnya mereka telah melakukan pengkhianatan besar terhadap Allah.

 

 

Now it's interesting to notice that the religious leaders wanted the death of Christ, they took Him before Pilate because they knew that they needed the State in order to slay Christ; but they also needed to influence the people to cry out for the blood of Christ. Do you know that actually Ellen White tells us, that if it had not been for the religious leaders, Christ would have brought about a revival such as the world had never seen. But it was because the religious leaders influenced the multitudes, and the multitudes had high respect for them, that the populace followed the counsel of the leaders and cried out for the blood of Jesus.

 

Nah, menarik menyimak bahwa para pemimpin rohani menghendaki kematian Kristus, mereka membawaNya ke hadapan Pilatus karena mereka tahu mereka membutuhkan negara untuk membunuh Krisitus; tetapi mereka juga perlu mempengaruhi orang banyak untuk menuntut darah Kristus. Tahukah kalian, Ellen White memberitahu kita bahwa seandainya bukan karena para pemimpin agama, Kristus akan sudah mendatangkan suatu kebangunan rohani yang tidak pernah dilihat dunia sebelumnya. Tetapi karena para pemimpin telah mempengaruhi orang banyak, dan orang banyak sangat menghormati mereka, sehingga masyarakat mengikuti nasihat para pemimpin dan berteriak menuntut darah Yesus.

 

 

I want you to notice Matthew 27:20 where we're told why the people clamored for the blood of Jesus. Matthew 27:20 tells us, “²⁰ But the chief priests and elders…”  “chief priests and elders”  those are the religious leaders, right? “…²⁰ But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.” Are you seeing the sequence here? Tremendous power of the religious leaders, influence over the multitudes and they appeal to the arm of the State to implement their desires to slay Christ in the interests supposedly of saving their nation. They had a choice: either Jesus the perfect Law-Keeper or Barabbas the thief and the criminal, and the one who was guilty of sedition against the Roman government. That was their choice: the Law-Keeper or the Law-breaker.

 

Saya mau kalian menyimak Matius 27:20 di mana kita diberitahu mengapa orang banyak berteriak-teriak menuntut darah Yesus. Matius 27:20 memberitahu kita, “²⁰ Tetapi imam-imam kepala dan tua-tua…”, “imam-imam kepala dan tua-tua” mereka ini para pemimpin agama, kan? “…²⁰ Tetapi imam-imam kepala dan tua-tua menghasut orang banyak agar mereka minta  Barabas diserahkan dan Yesus dibinasakan…”  Apakah kalian melihat urutannya di sini? Kekuasaan yang luar biasa dari para pemimpin agama mempengaruhi orang banyak, dan mereka meminta kepada militer negara untuk mengabulkan kehendak mereka membunuh Kristus, dengan aggapan itu demi kepentingan menyelamatkan bangsa mereka. Mereka punya opsi: apakah Yesus Sang Pemelihara Hukum yang sempurna, atau Barabbas si pencuri dan penjahat dan yang bersalah menghasut melawan Pemerintah Roma. Itulah opsi mereka: Sang Pemelihara Hukum atau si pelanggar Hukum.

  

 

It's interesting to notice that there were many denominations in the days of Christ; they were all Jews, just like the Christian church they are all Christians. They were all Jews, but these religious sects did not like one another. The Pharisees didn't like the Sadducees; and the Sadducees didn't like the Herodians; and then you had the Essenes and you had several different denominations, so to speak. But listen carefully, when it came to destroying public enemy # 1, they set their theological differences aside, and they made up their minds that they were going to destroy public enemy # 1. 

 

Menarik, menyimak bahwa ada banyak denominasi di zaman Kristus; mereka semuanya orang Yahudi, sama seperti gereja Kristen sekarang, mereka semuanya Kristen. Saat itu mereka semuanya Yahudi, tetapi sekte-sekte keagamaan ini saling tidak menyukai satu sama lain. Yang Farisi tidak menyukai yang Saduki; yang Saduki tidak menyukai yang Herodian; kemudan ada kelompok Essene, dan beberapa denominasi lain, katakanlah demikian. Tetapi dengarkan baik-baik, kalau itu mengenai membinasakan musuh bersama # 1, mereka mengesampingkan perbedaan theologi mereka, dan mereka bertekad untuk membinasakan musuh bersama # 1.

 

 

The Bible tells us that Pilate found it very difficult now because he knew that Jesus was innocent. Three times he said this, “I find no guilt in this Man”.  He said it publicly before the Jews. “This Man is not guilty.” And yet the Bible tells us that in spite of the fact that Pilate had said that Jesus was not guilty, he condemned to death that he proclaimed publicly was an innocent Man. Why did he do it? John 19:12 has the answer.

 

Alkitab mengatakan kepada kita bahwa Pilatus sekarang di posisi yang sulit karena dia tahu bahwa Yesus tidak bersalah. Tiga kali dia berkata, “Aku tidak menemukan kesalahan pada Orang ini.” Dia mengatakannya di hadapan umum, di hadapan bangsa Yahudi. “Orang ini tidak punya salah.” Namun Alkitab megatakan kepada kita bahwa kendati pun faktanya Pilatus berkata bahwa Yesus tidak bersalah, dia toh menjatuhkan hukuman mati kepada Orang yang dideklarasikannya di depan umum sebagai Orang yang tidak bersalah. Mengapa dia berbuat demikian? Yohanes 19:12 memberikan jawabannya.

 

 

John 19:12, the people exerted pressure on Pilate and they pressured him in a way that if he did not deliver Jesus to death, he would not be considered Caesar's friend, and Caesar would remove him from his political position. It was political expediency, wanting to hold on to his political position that led Pilate to deliver Jesus to death, an innocent Man. It says there in John 19:12, “¹² From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, ‘If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.’…” Now in other words,  “We're going to tell Caesar on you, that you let this Man go, and Caesar is going to remove you from your position as governor.”  So to save his political position, Pilate delivered to death an innocent Man, an Individual he announced three times was an innocent Man.

 

Yohanes 19:12. Orang-orang mengenakan tekanan pada Pilatus, dan mereka menekannya sedemikian rupa sehingga jika dia tidak menyerahkan Yesus untuk dibunuh, dia dianggap bukan teman Kaisar, dan Kaisar akan mencopotnya dari posisi politisnya. Jadi demi kepentingan politik, karena mau mempertahankan posisi politisnya itulah yang membuat Pilatus menyerahkan Yesus, Manusia yang tidak bersalah, untuk dibunuh.

Dikatakan di Yohanes 19:12, “ ¹² Dan sejak itu Pilatus berusaha untuk membebaskan Dia, tetapi orang-orang Yahudi berteriak, mengatakan, ‘Jikalau engkau membebaskan Orang ini, engkau bukanlah sahabat Kaisar. Siapa pun yang membuat dirinya raja, ia melawan Kaisar.’…” Nah, dengan kata lain, “Kami akan melaporkan engkau kepada Kaisar, bahwa engkau sudah membebaskan Orang ini, dan Kaisar akan mencopot engkau dari posisimu sebagai gubernur.” Maka demi menyelamatkan posisi politisnya, Pilatus menyerahkan Orang yang tidak bersalah untuk dibunuh, Individu yang dideklarasikannya sendiri tiga kali sebagai Orang yang tidak bersalah.

 

 

Now we've reviewed in broad strokes the story that we find in the gospels relating to God's church of that day and age, a church that was in apostasy, a church that claimed to serve God, a church that had many different denominations, but a church that could not stand to keep a perfect Law-Keeper around and chose the breaker of the Law instead of the One who kept the Law.

 

Sekarang kita sudah mengulang secara garis besar kisah yang kita temukan di kitab-kitab injil yang berkaitan dengan gereja Allah di zaman tersebut, sebuah gereja yang berada dalam kemurtadan, sebuah gereja yang mengklaim melayani Allah, sebuah gereja yang punya banyak denominasi yang berbeda, tetapi sebuah gereja yang tidak sanggup setia mempertahankan kehadiran Sang Pemegang Hukum yang sempurna, dan sebaliknya memilih si pelanggar Hukum ketimbang Dia yang memelihara Hukum. 

 

 

Folks, all of this is typological, of events that are occurring now and will soon occur in these United States of America. You see, the Bible tells us that the experience that Christ went through is the very experience that God's people are going to go through in the end time. Only in the end time it will not be persecution against Christ in person, it will be persecution against the body of Christ. Because what happened to the head will happen to the body as well.

You remember when Saul of Tarsus was on the road to Damascus to persecute the Christians, the Bible tells us that when he was on the outskirts of Damascus a bright light was seen from heaven, and Saul fell to the ground, and he heard a voice that said, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?”

And Saul is hearing this voice from heaven, and he says, you know, “I’m persecuting Christians”, you know, “Who is this talking to me?” He says, “Who are You?”

And the voice says, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.”

You see, in persecuting the people of God, the wicked will persecute the God of the people. That's the principle.

So what happened to Christ will happen to God's people in the end time.

 

Saudara-saudara, semua ini adalah tipe dari peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi sekarang dan yang akan segera terjadi di Amerika Serikat. Kalian lihat, Alkitab memberitahu kita bahwa pengalaman yang dijalani Kristus adalah pengalaman yang akan dijalani umat Allah di akhir masa. Hanya saja di hari-hari akhir persekusinya bukanlah terhadap Kristus pribadi, tapi persekusinya akan terhadap tubuh Kristus. Karena apa yang terjadi pada kepalanya, akan terjadi pada tubuhnya juga.

Kalian ingat, ketika Saulus dari Tarsus dalam perjalanan ke Damsyik untuk mempersekusi orang-orang Kristen, Alkitab mengatakan kepada kita ketika Saulus berada di luar kota Damsyik, tampak suatu cahaya yang terang dari langit, dan Saulus jatuh ke tanah, dan dia mendengar sebuah suara berkata, “Saulus, Saulus, mengapa engkau mempersekusi Aku?”

Dan Saulus mendengar suara itu dari langit dan dia berkata, “Aku mempersekusi orang-orang Kristen, siapa ini yang berbicara padaku?” Dia berkata, “Siapakah Engkau?”

Dan suara tersebut berkata, “Akulah Yesus yang kamu persekusi.”

Kalian lihat, dengan mempersekusi umat Allah, orang-orang jahat mempersekusi Allah umat itu. Itulah prinsipnya.

Jadi apa yang terjadi pada Kristus, akan terjadi pada umat Allah pada akhir masa.

 

 

Does the Christian world today profess to serve God? Do they profess to be God's true people? Absolutely! And yet never in the history of the Christian church have we found such a great apostasy as the apostasy that exists in the Christian church today. The book of Revelation chapter 18 describes the Christian church at the end of time as an organization that is filled with demons, that's how terrible the description is. We've been studying this in prayer meeting. You say, “That's amazing, pastor Bohr.”  Listen, folks, you think that that could happen to the Jewish nation, God's professed church, at the first coming and it's not going to happen with the Christian world shortly before the second coming of Christ? Absolutely not!

 

Apakah dunia Kristen hari ini mengaku melayani Allah? Apakah mereka mengaku sebagai umat sejati Allah? Namun belum pernah dalam sejarah gereja Kristen kita temukan kemurtadan sehebat kemurtadan yang sekarang ada di gereja Kristen hari ini. Kitab Wahyu pasal 18 menggambarkan gereja Kristen pada akhir masa sebagai sebuah organisasi yang dipenuhi oleh setan-setan, sebegitu buruknya deskripsi itu. Kita sedang mempelajari ini dalam pertemuan doa. Kalian berkata, “Itu luar biasa, Pastor Bohr.” Dengarkan, Saudara-saudara, kalian pikir apa yang terjadi pada bangsa Yahudi, yang mengaku gereja Allah, saat kedatangan pertama Kristus, itu tidak akan terjadi dengan dunia Kristen sedikit waktu sebelum kedatangan kedua Kristus? Tentu saja!

 

 

And so God has called a remnant people like He called Jesus, to go out to the world and proclaim a loud cry to the world to come to repentance, to the religious world to come to repentance, to truly accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

 

Maka Allah telah memanggil suatu umat yang sisa, seperti Dia telah memanggil Yesus, supaya pergi ke dunia dan mengumumkan sebuah seruan nyaring kepada dunia, kepada dunia relijius, untuk datang bertobat, untuk benar-benar menerima Yesus Kristus sebagai Juruselamat dan Tuhan.

 

 

Let me ask you, is the Sabbath going to be a big issue at the end of time? It is going to be the issue like it was in the days of Christ?

You say, “But it's not the same. It's similar but not the same.”

Let me ask you, is Sunday a day of rest that was created by man? Is it a human day of rest? Yes, because it was not made by God.

Was the day that the Pharisees created as the Sabbath their day of rest, created by man? Yes.

Was it a sign of their authority? Yes.

Is Sunday the sign of authority of the ones who created Sunday as a day of rest? Absolutely! It's a day of rest that is created by man.

The only difference is that in the days of Christ the Sabbath was kept in the wrong way; at the end of time it will be the wrong day. But it will still involve the Sabbath, the rest day of Jesus Christ.

 

Coba saya tanya, apakah Sabat akan menjadi isu besar pada akhir masa? Apakah itu akan menjadi isu sebagaimana itu menjadi isu di zaman Kristus?

Kalian berkata, “Tapi itu tidak sama. Itu mirip tapi tidak sama.”

Coba saya tanya, apakah hari Minggu itu sebuah hari perhentian yang diciptakan manusia? Apakah itu sebuah hari perhentian manusia? Ya, karena itu bukan ciptaan Allah.

Apakah hari yang diciptakan orang-orang Farisi sebagai Sabat hari perhentian mereka, diciptakan oleh manusia? Ya.

Apakah itu tanda autoritas mereka? Ya.

Apakah hari Minggu tanda autoritas dari mereka yang menciptakan hari Minggu sebagai hari perhentian? Tentu saja! Itulah hari perhentian yang diciptakan manusia.

Satu-satunya perbedaan ialah di zaman Kristus, Sabat dipelihara dengan cara yang salah. Di akhir masa, harinya yang salah. Tetapi tetap melibatkan Sabat, hari perhentian Yesus Kristus.

 

 

Just as a few months before the death of Christ there was a meeting of the Sanhedrin, there will be a meeting in the Christian world against God's Law-keeping people. There's this remarkable statement in Great Controversy pages 615 and 616 where Ellen White refers to the words of Caiaphas that we read before. Let me read you that statement. “It will be urged that the few who stand in opposition to an institution of the church…” this is Sunday  “…and a Law of the State…”  see, “…an institution of the church and a Law of the State,  ought not to be tolerated;…” listen carefully now   “…that it is better for them to suffer than for whole nations to be thrown into confusion and Lawlessness…” remember what the argument of Caiaphas was? It’s necessary for this man to die so that the nation will not fall apart and perish? She continues saying,  “…The same argument;…” listen carefully “… The same argument many centuries ago was brought against Christ by the rulers of the people. ‘It is expedient for us,’ said the wily Caiaphas,  ‘that one man should die for the people,  and that the whole nation perish not.’  (John 11:50).  This argument will appear conclusive;  and a decree will finally be issued against those who hallow the Sabbath of the fourth Commandment, denouncing them as deserving of the severest punishment and giving the people liberty,  after a certain time, to put them to death…” You say that could never happen. Did it happen in the days of Christ with God's supposed church giving the death decree against Christ? What makes you think that it can't happen again?  And then she explains,  “…Romanism  in the Old World and apostate Protestantism in the New…”   and folks, they're coming together. And it's not the Catholics that are reaching over to the Protestants. It's the Protestants that are reaching over to Roman Catholicism. Great leaders of the Protestant world are going over there, and they're speaking positively, all these television evangelists; we see the signs being fulfilled right before our eyes. She says, “…Romanism  in the Old World and apostate Protestantism in the New will pursue a similar course…”  listen carefully now   “…toward those who honor all the divine precepts.”

So what is the contrast? Against Law-keepers versus what? Versus Law-breakers.

 

Sebagaimana beberapa bulan sebelum kematian Kristus, ada pertemuan dewan Sanhedrin, nanti akan ada pertemuan di dunia Kristen melawan umat Allah yang mematuhi Hukum. Ada pernyataan yang mengagumkan ini di Great Controversy hal. 615-616 di mana Ellen White merujuk ke kata-kata Kayafas yang tadi sudah kita baca. Saya akan membacakan pernyataan itu.  “…Akan ada desakan supaya jumlah kecil yang berdiri menentang institusi gereja…”  ini hari Minggu, “…dan Hukum negara…”  lihat,  “…institusi gereja dan Hukum negara, tidak boleh ditoleransi…” dengarkan baik-baik sekarang, “…bahwa lebih baik mereka yang menderita daripada seluruh bangsa dicampakkan ke kekacauan dan anarki…”  ingat apa alasan Kayafas? Satu Orang itu harus mati supaya bangsa ini tidak hancur dan binasa. Ellen White melanjutkan berkata, “…Alasan yang sama…”  dengarkan baik-baik, “…Alasan yang sama berabad-abad yang lalu diajukan terhadap Kristus oleh para pemimpin bangsa.  ‘…demi kepentingan kita,…’ kata Kayafas yang licik, ‘…jika satu orang harus mati untuk bangsa ini, dan bukan seluruh bangsa kita ini yang harus binasa.’ (Yoh. 11:50). Alasan ini ternyata konklusif; dan sebuah dekrit akhirnya akan dikeluarkan terhadap mereka yang menguduskan Sabat Perintah Keempat, memutuskan bahwa mereka layak menerima hukuman yang paling berat, dan setelah lewat waktu tertentu memberi masyarakat kebebasan untuk membunuh mereka…”  Kalian berkata itu tidak mungkin terjadi. Apakah itu terjadi di zaman Kristus dengan mereka yang mengaku gereja Allah, menjatuhkan hukuman mati pada Kristus? Apa yang membuat kalian berpikir itu tidak akan terjadi lagi? Kemudian Ellen White menjelaskan,  “…Romanisme di dunia yang lama dan Protestantisme di dunia yang baru…”  dan Saudara-saudara, mereka sedang bergabung bersama. Dan bukan yang Katolik yang menjangkau Protestan, yang Protestanlah yang menjangkau Roma Katolikisme. Pemimpin-pemimpin besar dunia Protestan sedang datang ke sana, dan mereka berbicara secara positif, para evangelis televisi, kita melihat tanda-tandanya sedang digenapi di depan mata kita. Ellen White berkata,  “…Romanisme di dunia yang lama dan Protestantisme di dunia yang baru akan mengikuti jalur yang sama…”  dengarkan baik-baik sekarang, “…terhadap mereka yang menghormati semua peraturan Ilahi.”

Jadi apa kontrasnya? Terhadap para pemelihara Hukum versus apa? Versus pelanggar-pelanggar Hukum.

 

 

But listen carefully now, in these United States of America the constitution guarantees a separation of church and State, it's in the First Amendment to the constitution. “Congress shall make no Law respecting an establishment of religion...”  Congress can't make any Law that establishes religious observances,  “…nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Congress cannot make a Law forbidding people from practicing their religion. It cannot make religious observances mandatory. And it cannot forbid people from practicing their religion. In other words, there is a separation between the church and the State.

In these last days the church knows that they don't have authority to execute the death penalty, which eventually will be the final resort against God's Law-keeping people. The church cannot execute the death penalty, so whose help will they need? They will need the help of the civil power.

 

Tetapi dengarkan baik-baik sekarang, di Amerika Serikat ini, Konstitusinya menjamin pemisahan antara gereja dan negara, itulah Amendemen Pertama dari Konstitusi. “Kongres tidak boleh membuat undang-undang mengenai penegakan agama…”  Kongres tidak boleh membuat Hukum apa pun yang menetapkan ibadah keagamaan  “…maupun melarang kebebasan mempraktekkannya,…” Kongres tidak boleh membuat Hukum melarang manusia menjalankan agama mereka. Dia tidak boleh menjadikan ibadah keagamaan itu suatu keharusan, dan dia tidak boleh melarang orang mempraktekkan agama mereka. Dengan kata lain, ada pemisahan antara gereja dengan negara.

Di hari-hari akhir ini gereja tahu mereka tidak punya wewenang untuk mengeksekusi hukuman mati, yang akhirnya akan menjadi upaya terakhir terhadap umat Allah yang memelihara Hukum Allah. Gereja tidak bisa mengeksekusi hukuman mati, maka mereka akan membutuhkan bantuan siapa? Mereka akan membutuhkan bantuan dari kekuasaan sipil.

 

 

Let me read a statement from Ellen White.   She says,  “The clergy will put forth almost superhuman efforts to shut away the light lest it should shine upon their flocks. By every means at their command they will endeavor to suppress the discussion of these vital questions…” and now comes the key portion,  “…The church appeals to the strong arm of civil power…”  did that happen in the days of Christ? Yes. “…The church appeals to the strong arm of civil power, and in this work, Papists and Protestants unite.  As the movement for Sunday enforcement becomes more bold and decided,…”  listen carefully again  “… the Law will be invoked against Commandment keepers…”    (GC 607)

 

Saya akan membacakan sebuah pernyataan dari Ellen White. Dia berkata, “Para pendeta/romo akan mengerahkan upaya yang nyaris super-manusiawi untuk menutupi terang, supaya jangan itu menyinari kawanan domba mereka. Dengan segala macam sarana yang mereka kuasai, mereka akan berusaha menekan diskusi tentang pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang vital itu…”  dan sekarang bagian kuncinya,  “…Gereja minta bantuan kekuatan militer kekuasaan sipil…”  apakah itu yang terjadi di zaman Kristus? Ya.    “…Gereja minta bantuan kekuatan militer kekuasaan sipil, dan dalam pekerjaan ini, Kepausan dan Protestan bersatu. Sementara gerakan untuk memberlakukan hari Minggu menjadi semakin berani dan bertekad…”  dengarkan baik-baik lagi, “…para pemelihara Perintah Allah akan dihadapkan pada hukum negara.” (GC 607)

 

 

Is that why the Law was invoked against Christ? Absolutely! But as Jesus refused to take over the reins of the civil government, and He said, “My kingdom is not of this world” God's people will remain aloof from using the State on the part of the church to accomplish its purposes. And you know, what's going to happen is that God's people are going to be accused of sedition against the government, when those who really want to take over the government to accomplish their purposes are the union of  Catholicism and Protestantism.

 

Itukah mengapa Hukum negara dihadapkan kepada Kristus? Tentu saja! Tetapi sebagaimana Yesus menolak mengambil tali kekang Pemerintah sipil dan Dia berkata, “Kerajaan-Ku bukan dari dunia ini”, umat Allah akan menjauhkan diri dari menggunakan negara bagi kepentingan gereja untuk mencapai tujuannya. Dan kalian tahu, apa yang akan terjadi ialah umat Allah akan dituduh menghasut melawan Pemerintah, padahal mereka yang memang mau mengambilalih Pemerintah untu mencapai tujuan mereka adalah persekutuan Katolikisme dan Protestantisme.

 

 

Are you seeing the parallel with the days of Christ? Christ was accused, oh yeah He's really a danger to Caesar's throne. And yet they're using Caesar to condemn Him. On the other hand, Jesus said, No! ~ the authority of Caesar anyway ~ Jesus is saying No, “My kingdom is not of this world”. God's people will be accused of disaffection towards the government just like Jesus was accused.

 

Apakah kalian melihat paralelnya dengan zaman Kristus? Kristus dituduh, oh iya Dia benar-benar merupakan ancaman bagi takhta Kaisar. Namun mereka menggunakan Kaisar untuk menghukumNya, paling tidak autoritas dari Kaisarlah. Di pihak lain Yesus berkata, Tidak! ”Kerajaan-Ku bukan dari dunia ini” Umat Allah akan dituduh tidak mendukung Pemerintah, persis sama seperti Yesus dituduh.

 

 

Listen to this statement,  Great Controversy page 592, “Those who honor the Bible Sabbath will be denounced as enemies of Law and order…”  is that what was argued against Christ? An enemy of Law and order? Yeah,   “…as breaking down the moral restraints of society, causing anarchy and corruption, and calling down the judgments of God upon the earth.  Their conscientious  scruples will be pronounced obstinacy, stubbornness, and contempt of authority. They will be accused of disaffection toward the government…”  are we disaffected against the government? You might be. But you know when it involves religious observances, we have no reason to be disaffected towards the government as long as the government respects the separation of church and State, and respects religious freedom. You know, whether you like Obamacare or not, that's beside the point. We're talking about religious issues here. She continues saying, “…Ministers who deny the obligation of the divine Law…” see, once again the same issue coming forth again. Once again  “…Ministers who deny the obligation of the divine Law will present from the pulpit the duty of yielding obedience to the civil authorities as ordained of God.  In legislative  halls and courts of justice…” here it is again, “…Commandment-keepers…” what is the contrast between? Commandment-keepers and Commandment-breakers.  “…In legislative  halls and courts of justice Commandment-keepers will be misrepresented and condemned…” is that true of Christ? Yes!  “…A false coloring will be given to their words; the worst construction will be put upon their motives.”

 

Dengarkan pernyataan ini, Great Controversy hal. 592,   “…Mereka yang menghormati Sabat Alkitab akan dinyatakan sebagai musuh-musuh Hukum dan Ketertiban…”  itukah yang dituduhkan terhadap Kristus? Musuh Hukum dan ketertiban? Iya. “…sebagai pemecah kekang moral masyarakat, menimbulkan anarki dan korupsi, dan mendatangkan hukuman Allah ke atas bumi. Sikap hati-hati mereka terhadap pemeliharaan Hukum Allah akan dinyatakan sebagai sikap keras kepala, tegar tengkuk, dan tidak menghargai yang berwewenang. Mereka akan dituduh tidak mendukung pemerintah…”  apakah kita tidak mendukung Pemerintah? Mungkin saja. Tetapi kalian tahu, bila itu berkaitan dengan ibadah keagamaan, kita tidak punya alasan untuk tidak mendukung Pemerintah selama Pemerintah menghormati pemisahan antara gereja dengan negara, dan menghormati kebebasan beragama. Kalian tahu, apakah kita suka pada program Obamacare atau tidak, itu bukan poinnya. Kita di sini bicara tentang isu rohani. Ellen White melanjutkan berkata,    “…Pendeta-pendeta yang mengingkari kewajiban Hukum ilahi…”  lihat, sekali lagi isu yang sama muncul. Sekali lagi,  “…Pendeta-pendeta yang mengingkari kewajiban Hukum ilahi akan menyampaikan dari mimbar kewajiban untuk patuh kepada autoritas sipil sebagai yang diangkat oleh Allah. Di ruang-ruang legislatif dan pengadilan…” ini dia lagi, “…para pemelihara Hukum…”  apa kontrasnya antara para pemelihara Hukum dan para pelanggar Hukum? “…Di ruang-ruang legislatif dan pengadilan, para pemelihara Hukum akan difitnah dan dihukum…”  itukah yang terjadi pada Kristus? Ya.  “…Kata-kata mereka akan diberikan arti yang salah, konstruksi yang paling buruk akan dikenakan pada motivasi mereka.”

 

 

Will the church at the end of time be guilty of fornication? You've read Revelation 17:2 it says,  the harlot has fornicated with the kings of the earth and her daughters as well have fornicated with the kings of the earth. In other words, instead of the church being totally married to Jesus Christ as her only Husband, when the church appeals to the arm of the State, she's committing spiritual adultery, spiritual fornication, and we're told that just as the Jewish nation, God's professed church of that day and age, used the power of the State to condemn Christ, at the end of time the harlot and her daughters are going to also use the power of the State to condemn God's Commandment-keeping people.

 

Akankah gereja pada akhir masa melakukan dosa perzinahan? Kalian sudah membaca Wahyu 17:2 di mana dikatakan, pelacur itu telah berzinah dengan raja-raja bumi dan anak-anak perempuannya juga telah berzinah dengan raja-raja bumi. Dengan kata lain, gereja bukannya sepenuhnya menjadi istri Yesus Kristus, sebagai satu-satunya suaminya, ketika gereja minta bantuan militer negara, dia melakukan perzinahan spiritual, dan kita diberitahu sebagaimana bangsa Yahudi, yang mengaku gereja Allah di zaman itu, menggunakan kekuasaan negara untuk menghukum Kristus, pada akhir masa pelacur itu dan anak-anak perempuannya juga akan menggunakan kekuasaan negara untuk menghukum umat yang memelihara Perintah-perintah Allah.

 

 

Do you remember the choice that the Jewish nation had to make? Pilate placed before them: Jesus Christ  ~ and there are some manuscripts that say that Barabbas's name was Jesus Barabbas, some very good manuscripts New Testament manuscripts say that his name was Jesus Barabbas.  By the way “Bar-abbas” means “son of the father”.

So you have two sons of the father:

1.   one Son of the Father is innocent, righteous, and Law-abiding,

2.   the other is guilty, unrighteous, and he is a Law-breaker.

 

Apakah kalian ingat pilihan yang harus dibuat bangsa Yahudi? Pilatus menempatkan di hadapan mereka: Yesus Kristus ~ dan ada beberapa naskah yang mengatakan bahwa nama Barabbas adalah Yesus Barabbas, beberapa naskah yang sangat bagus, naskah Perjanjian Baru, mengatakan bahwa namanya ialah Yesus Barabbas. Nah, ketahuilah “Bar-abbas” artinya “anak bapak”

Jadi ada dua anak bapak:

1.   Satu Anak Bapa yang tidak bersalah, benar, dan patuh Hukum,

2.   yang lain, bersalah, tidak benar, dan dia seorang pelanggar Hukum

 

 

And so before the Christian world will be presented:

1.   the remnant of God, who keep the Commandments of God

2.   and the option of trampling upon God's holy Law

And the choice will be evil over good, Commandment-breaking over Commandment-keeping.

And you know who will be to blame. The most will be the religious leaders, instigating the people against God's faithful children who keep the Law the way Jesus kept the Law.

 

Maka di hadapan dunia Kristen akan disajikan:

1.   umat Allah yang sisa, yang memelihara Perintah-perintah Allah

2.   dan opsi menginjak-injak Hukum Allah yang kudus.

Dan yang dipilih nanti adalah yang jahat di atas yang baik, yang melanggar Perintah-perintah Allah di atas yang memelihara Perintah-perintah Allah.

Dan kalian tahu siapa yang akan disalahkan. Yang paling disalahkan adalah para pemimpin rohani yang menghasut orang banyak terhadap umat Allah yang setia yang memelihara Hukum seperti cara Yesus memelihara Hukum itu.

 

 

As in the days of Christ there were many denominations; today in the world there are many

denominations as well.

In the days of Christ all of the denominations said, “Let's set aside our theological differences and let's just unite on this one cause: that is getting rid of this Commandment-Keeper.” Of course they didn't express it that way, but that's what they were doing.

 

Sebagaimana di zaman Kristus, ada banyak denominasi; sekarang ini dunia ada banyak denominasi juga.

Di zaman Kristus semua denominasi berkata, “Ayo kita kesampingkan perbedaan theologi kita dan mari kita bersatu dalam satu tujuan ini saja: yaitu menyingkirkan si Pemelihara Perintah-perintah Allah.” Tentu saja mereka tidak memakai kata-kata itu, tetapi itulah yang mereka lakukan.

 

 

In Great Controversy page 445 Ellen White explains, “When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the State…”  there it is again “…shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” They will unite on common points of doctrine, and they'll say, “Let's leave our differences aside, this is too urgent because these people are going to lead our nation to fall apart and to be destroyed.” And the interesting thing is, there will be politicians who know that God's people are innocent, that God's people are Law-abiding citizens, they're Law-keepers, they don't meddle and mess with the State, they don't promote sedition against the civil power, they're loyal citizens ~ there will be politicians that know this, but they will deliver God's faithful Commandment-keeping people to death, and they will choose ~ so to speak ~ “Barabbas”.

 

Di Great Controversy hal. 445, Ellen White menjelaskan, “Ketika gereja-gereja yang berpengaruh di Amerika Serikat, bersatu dalam poin-poin doktrin mereka yang sama, dan akan mempengaruhi negara…” nah, itu lagi, “…akan mempengaruhi negara agar memberlakukan dekrit mereka dan menunjang institusi-institusi mereka, maka pada waktu itu Amerika Protestan telah membentuk patung hirarki Roma, dan sebagai akibat yang tidak terelakkan, mereka yang membangkang akan dikenakan hukuman sipil. …”  Mereka akan bersatu dalam poin-poin doktrin yang sama, dan mereka akan berkata, “Marilah kesampingkan perbedaan-perbedaan kita, ini terlalu mendesak karena orang-orang itu akan membuat bangsa kita hancur dan dibinasakan.” Dan yang menarik ialah, akan ada politikus-politikus yang tahu bahwa umat Allah itu tidak bersalah, bahwa umat Allah itu warganegara yang patuh hukum, mereka memelihara Hukum, mereka tidak turut campur dan mengacaukan negara, mereka tidak mempromosikan hasutan terhadap kekuasaan sipil, mereka adalah warganegara yang loyal ~ akan ada politikus-politikus yang tahu hal ini, tetapi mereka akan menyerahkan umat Allah yang setia, umat yang memelihara Perintah-perintah untuk dibunuh, dan mereka akan memilih ~ katakanlah ~ “Barabbas”.

 

 

Listen to this statement that we find in Volume 5 of the Testimonies page 450 and 451, she says, “Persecuting rulers, ministers, and church members will conspire against them…”   that is against those who keep God's Commandments “…With voice and pen, by boasts, threats, and ridicule, they will seek to overthrow their faith. By false representations and angry appeals they will stir up the passions of the people…” Remember the days of Christ? Stirring up the passions of the people? She continues saying,  “…Not having a ‘Thus saith the Scriptures’ to bring against the advocates of the Bible Sabbath, they will resort to oppressive  enactments  to supply the lack. ..” and now listen to this  “…To secure popularity and patronage…”  translation: “votes”,   “…To secure popularity and patronage legislators will yield to the demand for a Sunday Law…” just like in the times of Pilate and the Jews.

 

Dengarkan pernyataan ini yang kita dapati di Testimonies Vol. 5 hal 450-451, Ellen White berkata, “Penguasa-penguasa, hamba-hamba Allah, anggota-anggota gereja yang mempersekusi, akan bersekongkol melawan mereka…”  yaitu terhadap mereka yang memelihara Perintah-perintah Allah. “…Dengan kata-kata dan tulisan, dengan bualan-bualan, ancaman-ancaman, dan olok-olok mereka akan berusaha menjatuhkan iman umat Allah. Dengan fitnah dan ajakan penuh amarah, mereka akan membangkitkan emosi orang banyak…” Ingat di zaman Kristus? Membangkitkan emosi orang banyak? Ellen White melanjutkan berkata,   “…Tanpa memiliki ‘demikianlah kata Alkitab’ untuk menentang para pembela Sabat Alkitab, mereka akan memakai undang-undang yang menindas sebagai gantinya…” dan sekarang dengarkan ini. “…Demi mendapatkan popularitas dan dukungan…” terjemahannya: suara   “…Demi mendapatkan popularitas dan dukungan, para legislator akan menyerah pada tuntutan untuk membuat sebuah Undang-undang Hari Minggu…”  sama seperti di zaman Pilatus dan bangsa Yahudi.

 

 

I want to read you an interesting statement from Ellen White. This statement is found in Testimonies to Ministers page 131. She's applying the decision the Jews made in the days of Christ to have Barabbas released instead of Jesus to our day and age. This is how it reads, “Today men are choosing Barabbas, and saying, ‘Crucify Christ!’...”   Are people making the same decision today? Yes! “…Today men are choosing Barabbas, and saying, ‘Crucify Christ!’…”  How do they do this? Listen! “…They will do this in the person of His saints…” are you understanding the principle? You see in the days of Christ, it was basically they said “Release unto us Barabbas and crucify Christ!” At the end of time they're going to say you know, “Release unto us the Law-breakers but destroy those who keep the Law” like Christ kept the Law.  “…Today men are choosing Barabbas, and saying, ‘Crucify Christ!’ They will do this in the person of His saints…” listen carefully.  “…They will go over the same ground as the Jewish priests and rulers…” over the same what? Same ground  “…They will go over the same ground as the Jewish priests and rulers did in their treatment of Christ…”   now it's going to be the witnesses of Christ who keep the Commandments like Jesus did. She continue saying, “…He, the Son of God, and an innocent Man, was murdered because He told men truths that it did not please them to hear. Yet He was the Son of the infinite God. Those who today despise the Law of Jehovah, showing no respect for His Commandments, are taking sides with the great apostate…” that's the choice for Barabbas. She continues saying,  “…They proclaim to a sin-corrupted world that the Law of God is null and void. Those who declare this as truth deceive the people, and have virtually nailed the Law of Jehovah to the cross between two thieves…” they've nailed what? They've nailed the Law to the cross between two thieves.

You say, “Now wait a minute, pastor. It's not the same as nailing Jesus to the cross as nailing the Law to the cross, is it?” It's identical. Let me explain how, but before that let me read you a statement from Great Controversy page 22.

 

Saya mau membacakan suatu pernyataan yang menarik dari Ellen White. Pernyataan ini ditemukan di Testimonies to Ministers hal. 131. Ellen White mengaplikasikan keputusan yang dibuat bangsa Yahudi di zaman Kristus untuk membebaskan Barabbas dan bukan Yesus, ke zaman dan masa kita. Beginilah bunyinya,   “…Hari ini manusia memilih Barabbas dan berkata, ‘Salibkan Kristus!’ …”  apakah orang-orang membuat keputusan yang sama hari ini? Ya! “…Hari ini manusia memilih Barabbas dan berkata, ‘Salibkan Kristus!’ …”  bagaimana mereka melakukan ini? Dengarkan!  “…Mereka akan melakukan ini dalam pribadi orang-orang salehNya…”  apakah kalian paham prinsip ini? Lihat, di zaman Kristus, pada dasarnya mereka berkata, “Bebaskan untuk kami Barabbas dan salibkan Kristus!” Di hari akhir mereka akan berkata, “Bebaskan untuk kami para pelanggar Hukum, tetapi binasakan mereka yang patuh Hukum” sebagaimana Kristus memelihara Hukum.  “…Hari ini manusia memilih Barabbas dan berkata, ‘Salibkan Kristus!’ Mereka akan melakukan ini dalam pribadi orang-orang salehNya…”  dengarkan baik-baik.    “…Mereka akan melewati jalan yang sama sebagaimana yang dilakukan imam-imam dan pemimpin-pemimpin Yahudi…”  melewati apa? Melewati jalan yang sama. “…Mereka akan melewati jalan yang sama sebagaimana yang dilakukan imam-imam dan pemimpin-pemimpin Yahudi dalam perlakuan mereka atas Kristus…”  sekarang saksi-saksi Kristus yang memelihara Perintah-perintah seperti yang dilakukan Yesus. Ellen White melanjutkan berkata,  “…Dia, Anak Allah, Orang yang tidak bersalah, dibunuh karena Dia mengatakan kebenaran kepada manusia, yang tidak suka mereka dengar. Namun Dia adalah Anak dari Allah yang infinit. Mereka yang hari ini membenci Hukum Yehova, tidak menghormati Perintah-perintahNya, sedang berpihak dengan pemurtad besar…” itu memilih Barabbas. Ellen White melanjutkan berkata,    “…Mereka mendeklarasikan kepada dunia yang rusak oleh dosa bahwa Hukum Allah itu nol dan tidak berlaku. Mereka yang mendeklarasikan ini sebagai kebenaran, menyesatkan banyak orang, dan sesungguhnya telah memakukan Hukum Yehova ke salib di antara dua penyamun…”  Mereka telah memakukan apa? Mereka telah memakukan Hukum Allah ke salib di antara dua penyamun.

Kalian berkata, “Tunggu sebentar, Pastor. Tidak sama memakukan Yesus ke salib dengan memakukan Hukum ke salib, kan?” Sama. Saya akan jelaskan, tetapi sebelumnya saya akan membacakan sebuah pernyataan dari Great Controversy hal. 22.

 

 

I used to struggle with, you know, understanding this statement that I’m going to read now, because it appears like the sin of the Jews and the sin of the religious world at the end of time are totally different things, but they're not. In Great Controversy page 22 Ellen White says, “The great sin of the Jews was their rejection of Christ;…” and who did they choose? Barabbas, the Law-breaker, over the Law-Keeper.  “…the great sin of the Christian world would be their rejection of the Law of God, the foundation of His government in heaven and earth.”  So what was the great sin of the Jewish nation? The rejection of Christ. What will be the sin of the Christian world? The rejection of the Law.

You say those are two different things. No, they're not. Let me explain.

 

Dulu saya bergumul dengan pemahaman pernyataan ini, yang akan saya bacakan sekarang, karena sepertinya dosa bangsa Yahudi dan dosa dunia relijius pada akhir masa itu dua hal yang sama sekali berbeda. Namun mereka tidak. Di Great Controversy hal. 22 Ellen White berkata, “Dosa besar orang-orang Yahudi adalah penolakan mereka terhadap Kristus…”  dan siapa yang mereka pilih? Barabbas, si pelanggar Hukum di atas Sang Pemelihara Hukum. “…Dosa besar dunia Kristen adalah penolakan mereka terhadap Hukum Tuhan, yang adalah fondasi pemerintahanNya di Surga dan di bumi…” Jadi apakah dosa besar bangsa Yahudi? Penolakan Kristus. Apa yang akan menjadi dosa dunia Kristen? Penolakan Hukum.

Kalian berkata itu adalah dua hal yang berbeda. Tidak, mereka tidak berbeda. Saya jelaskan.

 

 

The Law of God is a transcript of Christ's character. Are you understanding what I’m saying? The Law of God is a transcript of Christ's character. So if you crucify the Law you are crucifying the copy of Christ's character, you are crucifying the transcript of His character. In other words, the Law is Christ's character in written form, while Christ is the Ten Commandments lived as a Person.

So how can you say, I love Jesus but I hate the reflection of Jesus? Are you with me?

ü  So the Jews said, “Oh, we are willing to accept the Law, but we don't want Christ.”

ü  The Christian world says, “We want Christ, but we don't want the Law.”?

Basically it's the same sin.

 

Hukum Allah adalah salinan karakter Kristus. Apakah kalian paham apa kata saya? Hukum Allah adalah salinan karakter Kristus. Maka jika orang menyalibkan Hukum, dia menyalibkan salinan karakter Kristus, dia menyalibkan salinan karakterNya. Dengan kata lain, Hukum adalah karakter Kristus dalam bentuk tertulis, sementara Kristus adalah Kesepuluh Perintah yang hidup sebagai Pribadi.

Jadi mana kita bisa berkata, “Aku mencintai Yesus tetapi aku membenci pantulan Yesus.”? Apakah kalian paham?

ü  Jadi bangsa Yahudi berkata, “Oh, kami bersedia menerima Hukum, tetapi kami tidak mau Kristus.”

ü  Dunia Kristen berkata, “Kami mau Kristus, tetapi kami tidak mau Hukum.”

Pada dasarnya itu adalah dosa yang sama.

 

 

Great Controversy page 571 and 572 Ellen White explains, “As the Protestant churches have been seeking the favor of the world…” hmm there's a whole sermon in itself  “…As the Protestant churches have been seeking the favor of the world…”  listen carefully “…false charity has blinded their eyes…” Do you know what false charity is? It's called “political correctness” in the world today. Oh yeah, don't talk bad about this church or that church, you know, all's okay, everybody's the same, everybody's doing well, don't ruffle any feathers, gay marriage is fine, straight marriage is fine, Sabbath that's okay, Sunday that's okay,  doesn't make any difference. She says,  “…false charity has blinded their eyes. They do not see but that it is right to believe good of all evil, and as the inevitable result they will finally believe evil of all good…” Is that what happened to the Jews and their choice of Barabbas? Absolutely!  “…Instead of standing in defense of the faith once delivered to the saints, they are now, as it were, apologizing to Rome for their uncharitable opinion of her, begging pardon for their bigotry.”

 

Great Controversy hal. 571 dan 572, Ellen White menjelaskan, “…Sementara gereja-gereja Protestan sedang menggalang simpati dunia…”  hmm, ada khotbah lengkap sendiri khusus untuk ini. “…Sementara gereja-gereja Protestan sedang menggalang simpati dunia…”  dengarkan baik-baik, “…mata mereka dibutakan oleh kebaikan yang palsu…”  tahukah kalian apa itu kebaikan yang palsu? Hari ini di dunia itu disebut “ketepatan politis”.  Oh, ya, jangan bicara buruk tentang gereja ini atau gereja itu, semuanya baik, semua orang sama, semua baik-baik, jangan menimbulkan masalah, perkawinan sesama jenis itu baik, perkawinan beda jenis itu baik, Sabat ya oke, hari Minggu ya oke, tidak ada bedanya. Ellen White berkata, “…mata mereka dibutakan oleh kebaikan yang palsu. Mereka tidak melihat, dengan menganggap bahwa mempercayai kebaikan pada semua yang jahat, itu benar; dan sebagai akibat yang tidak terelakkan akhirnya mereka akan mempercayai bahwa semua yang baik itu jahat…”  Itukah yang terjadi pada bangsa Yahudi dan pilihan mereka pada Barabbas? Tepat sekali!  “…Bukannya berdiri membela iman yang dulu disampaikan kepada orang-orang saleh, sekarang, sebagaimana dulu, mereka memohon maaf kepada Roma untuk pendapat mereka yang tidak baik tentangnya, dan memohon maaf untuk kefanatikan mereka.”

 

 

Do you know what led to the persecution of Christ? The fact that He was living the Law in human flesh. What is it that the Devil hates more than anything else, what led to the original controversy in heaven? The Law. The first thing that the Devil attacked in heaven was God's Law which is a reflection of His character. So what do you suppose the Devil is going to want to attack at the end of time? His Law, which is a reflection of His character.

 

Tahukah kalian apa yang menyebabkan persekusi pada Kristus? Faktanya bahwa Dia menghidupkan Hukum dalam hidupNya. Apa yang dibenci Iblis lebih daripada yang lain? Apa yang menyebabkan pertentangan yang asli di Surga? Hukum Allah. Hal pertama yang diserang Iblis di Surga adalah Hukum Allah, yang adalah pantulan karakterNya. Jadi menurut kalian apa yang akan diserang Iblis pada akhir masa? Hukum Allah, yang adalah pantulan karakterNya.

 

 

But now listen to what I’m going to say. Christ was persecuted because He was the Law in living flesh. Why will God's people be persecuted at the end of time? Because they also are living the Law in human flesh. And that will rise the ire of Satan against them, just like the ire of Satan was raised against Christ in the days of the Jewish nation.

 

Tetapi sekarang dengarkan apa yang akan saya katakan. Kristus dipersekusi karena Dia adalah Hukum dalam Pribadi yang hidup. Mengapa umat Allah akan dipersekusi pada akhir masa? Karena mereka juga menghidupkan Hukum dalam bentuk manusia. Dan itu akan membangkitkan amarah Setan terhadap mereka, sama seperti amarah Setan yang bangkit terhadap Kristus di zaman bangsa Yahudi.

 

 

So what does God want to do with us? He wants to record His Law in our minds, in our hearts, so that we are bodily a manifestation of the Law. And the world would say, “We don't want that. We want Barabbas. We want disobedience to God's Law, not obedience to God's Law.”

You know God wants to take out the stony heart, and He wants to put in a heart of flesh, and He wants to write His Law on our heart. You know, God, I’ve mentioned this before, God is the great heart surgeon, He's a cardiologist. He doesn't do bypasses, He doesn't put in pig valves, He doesn't put pacemakers in, He only does one kind of surgery and that is transplants, taking out the old heart and putting a new one in, where He can write His Law on flesh, not on stone, and that's what's going to rise the ire and the anger of the world. Because Revelation 12:17 says that “the dragon was enraged with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed” because they what? Because they “keep the Commandments of God”. We're going to go through the same experience Jesus went through.

 

Jadi Tuhan mau berbuat apa pada kita? Dia mau menuliskan HukumNya di pikiran kita, di hati kita, supaya kita menjadi manifestasi nyata dari Hukum itu. Dan dunia akan berkata, “Kami tidak mau itu. Kami mau Barabbas. Kami mau ketidakpatuhan pada Hukum Allah, bukan kepatuhan pada Hukum Allah.”

Kalian tahu, Allah mau mengeluarkan hati batu kita dan Dia mau memasukkan sebuah hati dari daging, dan Dia mau menuliskan HukumNya di hati kita. Kalian tahu, saya sudah pernah mengatakan ini sebelumnya, Allah adalah dokter bedah jantung yang hebat, Dia adalah kardiolog. Dia tidak melakukan bypass, Dia tidak menanamkan katup babi, Dia tidak memasang pacu jantung, Dia hanya melakukan satu jenis pembedahan, dan itu ialah transplantasi, mengeluarkan hati yang lama dan menggantinya dengan yang baru, di mana Dia bisa menulis HukumNya di atas daging, bukan di atas batu, dan itulah yang akan membangkitkan kemarahan dan murka dunia. Karena Wahyu 12:17 mengatakan, Dan marahlah naga itu kepada perempuan itu, dan pergi memerangi yang tersisa dari  Benihnya…” karena mereka apa? Karena mereka “…memelihara Perintah-perintah Allah…”  Kita akan mengalami pengalaman yang sama yang dialami Yesus.

 

 

I want to read this remarkable statement. I read this at GYC, in the first sermon that I presented there last weekend on Thursday evening. This is a remarkable statement. Review and Herald April 14, 1896, we're going to repeat the story of Jesus and the religious world is going to make the same choice that the Jews made in the days of Christ. Listen to this,

“The forces of darkness will unite with human agents who have given themselves into the  control of Satan and the  same scenes that were exhibited at the trial, rejection, and crucifixion of Christ will be  revived…”  the same what? “…The same scenes…” she says,  “…that were exhibited at the trial, rejection, and crucifixion of Christ will be  revived…” this time with His people. “…Through yielding to satanic influences, men will be  transformed into fiends…” Do you know what a “fiend” is? It's an evil spirit or a demon, or it can be a very wicked or cruel person. She continues saying, “…Through yielding to satanic influences, men will be  transformed into fiends and those…”  listen “…and those who were created in the image of God, who were formed to honor and glorify their Creator, will become the  habitation of dragons, and Satan will see in an apostate race his  masterpiece of evil—men who reflect  his own image.”

Powerful Statement!

 

Saya mau membacakan pernyataan yang mengagumkan ini. Saya sudah membacakan ini di GYC dalam khotbah pertama yang saya sampaikan di sana minggu lalu Kamis malam. Ini adalah pernyataan yang mengagumkan. Review and Herald, 4 April 1896, kita akan mengulangi kisah Yesus dan dunia relijius akan membuat pilihan yang sama yang dibuat bangsa Yahudi di zaman Kristus. Dengarkan ini, “…Kuasa kegelapan akan bersatu dengan agen-agen manusia yang telah menyerahkan diri mereka kepada kendali Setan dan adegan-adegan yang sama yang ditunjukkan saat penghakiman, penolakan, dan penyaliban Kristus akan dihidupkan kembali…”  apa yang sama?    “…adegan-adegan yang sama…”  kata Ellen White,  “…yang ditunjukkan saat penghakiman, penolakan, dan penyaliban Kristus akan dihidupkan kembali…”  kali ini pada umatNya. “…Dengan menyerah kepada pengaruh sataniah, manusia akan diubahkan menjadi  ‘fiend’ (iblis)…”  Tahukah kalian “fiend” itu apa? Itu roh jahat atau iblis, atau bisa juga seorang manusia yang sangat jahat dan kejam. Ellen White melanjutkan berkata, “…Dengan menyerah kepada pengaruh sataniah, manusia akan diubahkan menjadi  ‘fiend’ (iblis)…”  tahukah kalian “fiend” itu apa? Itu roh jahat atau iblis, atau itu bisa seorang manusia yang sangat jahat dan kejam. “…Dengan menyerah kepada pengaruh sataniah, manusia akan diubahkan menjadi ‘fiend’ (iblis) dan mereka…”  dengarkan, “…dan mereka yang diciptakan dalam rupa Allah, yang dibentuk untuk menghormati dan memuliakan Pencipta mereka, akan menjadi tempat tinggalnya naga-naga, dan Setan akan melihat pada bangsa yang murtad ini karya unggulnya yang jahat ~ manusia-manusia yang memantulkan rupanya sendiri…” 

Pernyataan yang keras.

 

 

So there will be a people that reflect the image of Christ, and on the other hand there will be those who reflect the image of Satan:  Barabbas.

And the religious world will have to say:

Ø  “Crucify the people and give us”… so to speak, “…Barabbas.”

Ø  Or they will have to say, “We will suffer with the people.”

That's the choice.

 

Maka akan ada suatu umat yang memantulkan keserupaan Kristus, dan di pihak lain akan ada mereka yang memantulkan keserupaan Setan: Barabbas.

Dan dunia relijius akan harus berkata:

Ø  “Salibkan umat itu dan berikan kepada kami”… katakanlah begitu, “…Barabbas.”

Ø  Atau mereka akan harus berkata, “Kami akan menderita bersama umat itu.”

Itulah pilihannya.

 

 

Do you remember that the Jewish nation felt that by killing Christ they would keep their nation from perishing? Lo and behold! By crucifying Christ they brought doom upon their nation. They caused what they wanted to prevent, did they not? By crucifying the Messiah they say, “We’ll save our nation.” No, they brought doom upon their nation. Their nation was destroyed. “National apostasy led to national ruin”. Is that true of this country as well?

 

Ingatkah kalian ketika bangsa Yahudi menganggap bahwa dengan membunuh Kristus mereka akan mencegah bangsa mereka dari kebinasaan? Ternyata lihatlah! Dengan menyalibkan Kristus mereka justru mendatangkan kebinasaan pada bangsa mereka. Mereka menyebabkan apa yang mau mereka hindari, bukan? Dengan menyalibkan Sang Mesias mereka berkata, “Kami akan menyelamatkan bangsa kami.” Tidak! Mereka malah mendatangkan kebinasaan pada bangsa mereka. Bangsa mereka dibinasakan. “Kemurtadan nasional membawa kepada kehancuran nasional…”  apakah negeri ini juga seperti itu?   

 

 

Last statement I want to read, Signs of the Times July 4, 1899. Interesting that she would write this on Independence Day, July 4 1899. She says, “The greatest and most favored nation upon the earth is the United States. A gracious Providence has shielded this country, and poured out upon her the choicest of heaven's blessings…” is that true of the Jewish nation as well? Yeah, see this nation is parallel to the Jewish nation. God has poured out His unlimited blessings upon these United States of America. She continues saying, “…Here the persecuted and oppressed have found refuge. Here the Christian faith in its purity has been taught. This people have been the recipients of great light and unrivaled mercies in these United States…” just like the Jews, folks. The Jews received the greatest light that could ever be given, Christ in their midst, and they rejected Him. What makes you think that the message of God's faithful Commandment-keeping people will not be met in the same way, with the same choice? We need to make sure we're on the right side. She continues saying, now she's going to talk about the blessings that the United States received, but now she says, “…But these gifts have been repaid by ingratitude and forgetfulness of God. The Infinite One keeps a reckoning with the nations, and their guilt is proportioned to the light rejected…” great light great responsibility. And then she speaks about slavery, she's writing about slavery at this point. She says,  “…A fearful record now stands in the register of heaven against our land…” talking about the evil practice of slavery, the wicked practice of taking people, imagine what that was like, human beings created in the image of God treated as slaves. Satanic! She says, “…A fearful record now stands in the register of heaven against our land…” but now notice, “…but the crime which shall fill up the measure of her iniquity, is that of making void the Law of God...”    and she's referring to the change of the Sabbath.

 

Pernyataan terakhir yang ingin saya bacakan, Signs of the Times, 4 Juli 1899, menarik Ellen White menulis ini pada hari kemerdekaan, 4 Juli 1899. Ellen White berkata, “…Bangsa yang paling hebat dan paling disayang di atas bumi adalah Amerika Serikat. Sang Pemelihara yang mahamurah telah melindungi negeri ini dan mencurahkan kepadanya berkat-berkat Surgawi yang paling bagus…” Bukankah begini juga bangsa Yahudi? Iya. Lihat, bangsa ini paralel dengan bangsa Yahudi. Allah telah mencurahkan berkat-berkatNya yang tidak terbatas kepada Amerika Serikat.  Ellen White melanjutkan berkata, “…Di sini mereka yang dipersekusi dan ditindas mendapatkan tempat berlindung. Di sini iman Kristen dalam kemurniannya telah diajarkan. Bangsa ini telah menjadi penerima terang yang sangat besar dan kemurahan yang tidak ada bandingnya, di negara-negara bagian Amerika Serikat ini…”  persis seperti bangsa Yahudi, Saudara-saudara. Bangsa Yahudi telah menerima terang yang paling besar yang pernah diberikan, Kristus di tengah-tengah mereka, dan mereka menolak Dia. Apa yang membuat kalian berpikir pekabaran dari umat Allah pemelihara Perintah-perintahNya yang setia, tidak akan dihadapi dengan sikap yng sama, dengan pilihan yang sama? Kita perlu memastikan kita berada di pihak yang benar.  Ellen White melanjutkan berkata, sekarang dia akan bicara mengenai berkat-berkat yang diterima Amerika Serikat, tapi sekarang dia berkata, “…Tetapi pemberian-pemberian ini telah dibalas dengan tidak berterimakasih dan melupakan Allah. Dia yang infinite punya catatan perhitungan dengan bangsa-bangsa, dan kesalahan mereka itu proporsional dengan terang yang mereka tolak…”  terang besar, tanggung jawab besar. Kemudian Ellen White bicara tentang perbudakan, dia menulis tentang perbudakan di poin ini. Dia berkata, “…Suatu catatan yang mengerikan sekarang terdapat di pencatatan surgawi mengenai negeri kita…”  bicara tentang praktek perbudakan yang jahat, praktek jahat menyandera manusia, bayangkan seperti apa itu, manusia yang diciptakan dalam keserupaan Allah diperlakukan sebagai budak. Sataniah! Ellen White berkata, “…Suatu catatan yang mengerikan sekarang terdapat di pencatatan surgawi mengenai negeri kita…” tetapi sekarang simak, “…tetapi kejahatan yang akan membuat takaran dosanya penuh, ialah menjadikan Hukum Allah tidak berarti…”  dan Ellen White di sini merujuk ke perubahan Sabat.

 

 

I believe, folks, that we are quickly moving on to what we've discussed this morning. You would have to be out at Sequoia National Park the last year, camping out without any access to the news, to not see how things are just winding down, things are just precipitating to what Ellen White describes in Great Controversy. It's like, you know, she wrote this book 120 years ago, but what she wrote is just being fulfilled right before our eyes. Yet what are we doing? We're sleeping, sitting in the pews comfortably, maybe not even giving out a glow trap.  It's time for us, folks, to awaken and to ask the Lord to give us a new heart, a heart of flesh, take out the heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh, and then allow God through a study of His Word, through prayer, and through witnessing, allow God to take His Law and to write it in our hearts, so that we will become the embodiment of the Law as Jesus was the embodiment of the Law. And that will raise the ire of Satan. But ultimately the Devil is a defeated foe. Every time that he fights with Christ he gets defeated, he got defeated in heaven, he got defeated at the cross, he's going to be defeated at the end. Let's just make sure that we are on the right side.

 

Saya percaya, Saudara-saudara, bahwa kita sedang dengan cepat melaju ke apa yang kita diskusikan tadi pagi. Kita harus berada di Sequoia National Park selama tahun lalu, berkemah di luar sana tanpa akses ke berita apa pun, untuk tidak melihat bagaimana hal-hal mendekati akhirnya, semuanya terus berputar ke bawah, segala hal semata-mata terjun bebas ke apa yang digambarkan Ellen White di Great Controversy. Itu seperti ~ kalian tahu ~ dia menulis buku ini 120 tahun yang lalu, tetapi apa yang ditulisnya itu sedang digenapi tepat di depan mata kita. Namun apa yang sedang kita lakukan? Kita tidur, duduk di bangku-bangku gereja dengan nyaman, mungkin bahkan tidak memancarkan terang untuk menarik orang. Sudah waktunya bagi kita, Saudara-saudara, untuk bangun dan minta Tuhan memberi kita sebuah hati yang baru, hati dari daging, mengeluarkan hati yang dari batu dan memberi kita hati dari daging, kemudian mengizinkan Allah ~ melalui mempelajari FirmanNya, melalui doa, dan melalui bersaksi ~ mengizinkan Allah mengambil HukumNya dan menuliskannya di hati kita, supaya kita akan menjadi perwujudan Hukum sebagaimana Yesus adalah perwujudan Hukum. Dan itu akan membangkitkan murka Setan. Tetapi puncaknya Iblis adalah musuh yang sudah dikalahkan. Setiap kali dia bertarung dengan Kristus, dia dikalahkan. Dia dikalahkan di Surga, dia dikalahkan di salib, dia akan dikalahkan pada akhirnya. Kita hanya harus memastikan bahwa kita berada di pihak yang benar.
