In our last study together we analyzed the story of this great patriarch Job, and today in part two we want to study the story of Job from a different perspective. We want to look at the Messianic meaning of the Book of Job. Because the Book of Job really is not only about Job.
1. It's first of all about Job,
2. secondly about Jesus,
3. and in the third place about what will
happen to God's people when they go through the end time tribulation.
Dalam pelajaran kita yang lalu, kita telah menganalisa kisah
patriak besar Ayub, dan hari ini di bagian kedua, kita mau mempelajari kisah
Ayub dari perspektif yang berbeda. Kita mau menilik makna mesianik dari kitab
Ayub. Karena kitab Ayub sesungguhnya bukan hanya tentang Ayub.
1. Pertamanya memang itu tentang Ayub,
2. keduanya itu tentang Yesus,
3. dan di tempat ketiga itu tentang apa yang akan terjadi
pada umat Allah ketika mereka melalui Masa Kesukaran Besar di akhir zaman.
Now what I'm saying is that the Book of Job is actually a type of what would
happen with Jesus, a type of Christ. Now, we need to understand that a
type is never as perfect as the fulfillment or the anti-type. In other words,
Job is a sinful human being who becomes an illustration of the experience that
Jesus would go through.
Now there are other types of Jesus in the Old Testament as well, you know,
we have David, Joseph, and other individuals in the Old Testament that
prefigured what Jesus would do in His lifetime, and Job is no exception to this
rule, that the Old Testament characters are types or illustrations of Jesus
Christ. In other words, Job foreshadows the experience of Jesus
who would come of about 2’000 years after this story transpired.
Nah, yang saya katakan ialah kitab Ayub sesungguhnya adalah tipe dari apa yang akan terjadi
pada Yesus, sebuah tipe dari Kristus. Nah, kita perlu mengerti
bahwa sebuah tipe itu tidak pernah sesempurna seperti yang menggenapinya atau
antitipenya. Dengan kata lain, Ayub adalah seorang manuia berdosa yang menjadi
ilustrasi dari pengalaman yang akan dialami Yesus.
Nah, ada tipe-tipe lain dari Yesus di Perjanjian Lama,
kalian tahu, ada Daud, Yusuf, dan individu-individu lain di Perjanjian Lama
yang memberikan gambaran awal tentang apa yang akan dilakukan Yesus di masa Dia
hidup sebagai manusia, dan Ayub bukan perkecualian dari rumus ini, yaitu bahwa tokoh-tokoh Perjanjian Lama adalah
tipe-tipe atau ilustrasi-ilustrasi dari Yesus Kristus. Dengan kata lain, Ayub adalah bayangan pendahulu
dari pengalaman Yesus yang akan datang sekitar 2’000 tahun
setelah terjadinya kisah ini.
Now something that we need to remember about the first study that we had
together, and that is, that the entire Heavenly council is observing what is
taking place in the story of Job. In other words, this story is transpiring on earth
but it's being seen or it's been witnessed in Heaven, because God is
trying to prove a very important point. We also noticed in our last
study that Satan was the culprit, working behind the scenes. Job did not
understand this, but the story is very clear that all of the calamities that
Job suffered came to him as a result of the work of Satan behind the scenes. In
other words, it was Satan who unleashed all of the powers of Hell against this
man. And as we noticed in the first study on Job, the purpose of Satan's
work was to lead Job to let go of his relationship with God. In other
words, it was to prove before the universe that Job served God not because he loved
God but because of everything that God did for him, because God helped
him, and God prospered him.
Nah, ada yang perlu kita ingat dari pelajaran pertama
yang kita pelajari bersama, yaitu bahwa seluruh dewan Surgawi sedang
menyaksikan apa yang terjadi di kisah Ayub. Dengan kata lain, kisah ini sedang
terjadi di bumi, tetapi itu sedang ditonton atau disaksikan di Surga, karena Allah sedang berusaha
membuktikan satu poin yang sangat penting. Kita juga telah menyimak
di pelajaran kita yang lalu bahwa Setan itulah biang keladinya, yang bekerja di
balik layar. Ayub tidak memahami ini, tetapi kisahnya sangat jelas bahwa semua
malapetaka yang diderita Ayub terjadi padanya sebagai akibat ulah Setan di
balik layar. Dengan kata lain, Setan-lah yang melepaskan semua kuasa kegelapan
pada orang ini. Dan sebagaimana yang kita simak dalam pelajaran pertama tentang
Ayub, tujuan pekerjaan Setan
ialah untuk membuat Ayub memutuskan hubungannya dengan Allah.
Dengan kata lain, itu untuk
membuktikan di hadapan alam semesta bahwa Ayub mengabdi kepada Allah bukan
karena dia mengasihi Allah, melainkan karena segala yang telah Allah lakukan
baginya, karena Allah telah membantunya, dan Allah membuatnya
makmur.
So we're going to take a look at the story of Job from the perspective of
the Messiah. In other words, we're going to draw a parallel between this Old Testament
patriarch and the experience of Jesus Christ.
The first point that I would like us to notice is the moral uprightness of Job.
We're told in Job 1:8 the following about this great patriarch, and by the way
these are the words of the Lord. It says, “8 Then
the Lord said
to Satan, ‘Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the
earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?’…” Notice the description: he was blameless,
upright, he feared God, and he shunned evil. In other words, he had a
sterling moral character.
Now Jesus
also had a sterling character, moral character. We find in the book of
Hebrews 7:26 a description of that character of Jesus. We're told there in
Hebrews 7:26, “26 For such a
High Priest was fitting for us, who
is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and
has become higher than the Heavens…” Notice the description of the character of Jesus: holy, harmless,
undefiled, separate from sinners. Very similar to the description that we find
in Job 1:8 and which is repeated also in Job chapter 2 the first couple of
verses.
Jadi kita akan menyimak kisah Ayub dari perspektif Sang
Mesias. Dengan kata lain, kita akan menarik garis paralel antara patriak Perjanjian
Lama ini dan pengalaman Yesus Kristus.
Poin pertama yang saya mau kita simak adalah kebenaran
moral Ayub. Kita
mendapat tahu yang berikut tentang patriak besar ini di Ayub 1:8. Dan
ketahuilah, ini adalah kata-kata Tuhan sendiri. Dikatakan, “8 Lalu
TUHAN berkata kepada Setan, ‘Sudahkah engkau memperhitungkan
hamba-Ku Ayub, bahwa tiada seorang pun
seperti dia di bumi, seorang yang tidak bercacat
dan benar, yang takut akan Allah dan
menjauhi kejahatan?’…” Simak
deskripsinya: Ayub itu tidak bercacat cela, benar, dia takut akan Allah, dan
dia menjauhi kejahatan. Dengan kata lain dia punya karakter moral yang cemerlang.
Nah, Yesus juga punya karakter moral
yang cemerlang. Kita menemukannya di kitab Ibrani 7:26 sebuah
deskripsi dari karakter Yesus tersebut. Kita mendapat tahu di Ibrani 7:26, “26 Sebab
Imam Besar yang demikianlah yang tepat bagi kita:
yang kudus, tidak berniat
jahat, tidak tercemar, yang terpisah
dari orang-orang berdosa, dan telah menjadi
lebih tinggi daripada segala langit.” Simak deskripsi karakter Yesus: kudus, tidak berniat
jahat, tidak tercemar, terpisah dari (tidak termasuk)
orang-orang berdosa. Sangat mirip dengan deskripsi yang kita lihat di Ayub 1:8
dan yang diulang juga di Ayub pasal 2 ayat-ayatnya yang pertama.
Another parallel that we notice between Job and Jesus is the fact that Job was a very
rich man, in fact he was the richest man in all of the East, according
to Job chapter 1. And of course, we all know that Jesus was the Owner of the
universe. And we also know that Job lost all of his riches, and Jesus also
gave up all of His riches. Notice 2 Corinthians 8:9, speaks about the riches of
Jesus and how Jesus gave up those riches to come to this world. We're told
there by the apostle Paul, “ 9 For you know the grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He
became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”
So very clearly the apostle Paul tells us that Jesus was rich, but Jesus became poor,
and according to Scripture He not only became poor, He became the poorest of
the poor. He took the place of a servant, and He even humbled Himself more than
a servant, dying the death of a cross.
Paralel yang lain yang kita lihat antara Ayub dan Yesus
ialah fakta bahwa Ayub adalah orang
yang amat kaya, bahkan dia adalah orang paling kaya di seluruh
daerah Timur, menurut Ayub pasal 1. Dan tentu saja kita semua tahu bahwa Yesus
adalah Pemilik alam semesta. Dan kita juga tahu bahwa Ayub
kehilangan semua hartanya, dan Yesus juga meninggalkan semua kekayaanNya. Simak 2
Korintus 8:9 bicara tentang kekayaan Yesus dan bagaimana Yesus meninggalkan
semua itu untuk datang ke dunia ini. Kita diberitahu oleh rasul Paulus di sana,
“9 Karena kamu tahu kasih karunia Tuhan kita Yesus Kristus,
bahwa walaupun Ia kaya, namun demi kamu Dia menjadi
miskin, supaya kamu melalui kemiskinan-Nya boleh menjadi kaya.”
Jadi sangat jelas rasul Paulus memberitahu kita bahwa Yesus itu kaya, tetapi Yesus
menjadi miskin dan menurut Kitab Suci Dia bukan saja menjadi
miskin, Dia menjadi yang paling miskin dari yang miskin. Dia mengambil tempat
seorang hamba, dan Dia bahkan merendahkan DiriNya lebih daripada seorang hamba
dengan mati di atas salib.
Another interesting parallel that we notice between Job and Jesus is the
fact that both
of them lost the support of their own family. Their own family did not
understand the experience that they were going through. Notice Job 19:13-15,
speaking about Job we find these words. Speaking about God, “13 He has
removed my brothers far from me, and my acquaintances are completely estranged
from me. 14 My
relatives have failed, and my close friends have forgotten me. 15 Those who dwell in my
house, and my maidservants, count me as a stranger; I am an alien in their
sight.” In other words, forsaken by his own
family, misunderstood by his relatives, and by his acquaintances.
Paralel lain yang menarik yang kita lihat antara Ayub dan
Yesus adalah fakta bahwa keduanya
kehilangan dukungan keluarga mereka sendiri. Keluarga mereka
sendiri tidak mengerti pengalaman yang sedang mereka alami. Simak Ayub
19:13-15, bicara tentang Ayub kita menemukan kata-kata ini. Ini Ayub bicara tentang
Allah, “13 Ia telah menjauhkan saudara-saudaraku dariku,
dan kenalan-kenalanku seluruhnya diasingkan

disalahpahami oleh kerabatnya dan oleh kenalan-kenalannya.
Now we find several instances in the gospels that Jesus was also misunderstood. We
have for example in Mark chapter 13, the mother of Jesus and His brothers come
because they want to take Jesus home, because they feel that Jesus is going to
have a nervous breakdown. Obviously, they don't understand His mission. And in
fact in John 7:5 we find this very telling short statement. John says, “5 For even
His brothers did not believe in Him.” Even His brothers did not believe in Him just as happened with the
patriarch Job.
Kita menemukan beberapa peristiwa di kitab injil bahwa Yesus juga disalahpahami.
Misalnya di Markus pasal 13, ibu Yesus dan saudara-saudaraNya datang, mereka
mau mengajak Yesus pulang karena mereka merasa Yesus akan kena sakit stress.
Sangat jelas mereka tidak mengerti misiNya. Dan bahkan di Yohanes 7:5 kita
menemukan pernyataan singkat yang sangat mencerahkan ini. Yohanes berkata, “5 Sebab bahkan saudara-saudara-Nya
sendiri pun tidak percaya pada-Nya.” Bahkan
saudara-saudaraNya tidak mempercayaiNya, seperti yang terjadi pada patriak
Ayub.
Another interesting parallel is that Job was not only forsaken by his relatives
and his family, he was also forsaken by his friends. Notice Job chapter 19 and I'm going
to read verse 19:21 and 22. Job 19:19 and then 21 and 22. Here Job is speaking,
and he says, “19 All my
close friends abhor me, and those whom I love have turned against me…” verse 21, “…21Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, for
the hand of God has struck me! 22 Why
do you persecute me as God does,
and are not satisfied with my flesh?”
So we find in this passage that Job is actually persecuted by his own
friends, he's forsaken by his friends, not only by his family.
Paralel lain yang menarik ialah Ayub tidak hanya
ditinggalkan oleh kerabatnya dan keluarganya, dia juga ditinggalkan teman-temannya. Simak
Ayub pasal 19 dan saya akan membaca ayat 19, 21, 22. Di sini Ayub sedang bicara
dan dia berkata, “19
Semua teman karibku jijik padaku; dan mereka
yang kukasihi, telah berbalik melawan aku…” ayat 21, “…21 Kasihanilah aku, kasihanilah
aku, hai kalian teman-temanku, karena tangan
Allah telah memukul aku. 22
Mengapa kamu menganiaya aku seperti yang dilakukan Allah, dan tidak puas dengan dagingku?”
Maka kita lihat di bacaan ini bahwa Ayub sebenarnya
dianiaya teman-temannya sendiri, dia ditinggalkan teman-temannya, bukan hanya
keluarganya.
Now it's interesting to notice that Job was especially forsaken by three very close friends.
You can find that at the end of chapter 2.
Now we find in the New Testament that Jesus also had three very close friends among
the disciples, they were called Peter, James, and John. Notice Mark 14:33 and
then we're going to read verse 50. It says here, “ 33 And He took Peter,
James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed…” Notice that He took three disciples to be
with Him in His greatest sufferings in the Garden of Gethsemane. A little bit
later on in verse 50 we find that these three close friends as well as the
other disciples forsook Him. In fact, it says in verse 50, “…50 Then they all forsook Him and fled.”
Nah, menarik bila kita simak bahwa Ayub terutama ditinggalkan
oleh tiga orang temannya yang sangat akrab. Kalian bisa
menemukannya di bagian akhir pasal 2.
Nah, di Perjanjian Baru kita
menemukan bahwa Yesus juga punya
tiga teman yang sangat akrab di antara para murid, mereka
disebut Petrus, Yakobus, dan Yohanes. Simak Markus 14:33 lalu kita akan membaca
ayat 50. Dikatakan di sini, “33
Dan Ia membawa Petrus, Yakobus dan Yohanes denganNya,
dan Dia mulai
menjadi sangat terganggu pikiranNya dan sangat tertekan…” Simak Dia membawa
tiga orang muridNya untuk menemaniNya di penderitaanNya yang paling berat di
taman Getsemani. Tidak lama kemudian di ayat 50 kita lihat bahwa ketiga teman ini
dan juga murid-murid yang lain meninggalkan
Dia. Bahkan, dikatakan di ayat 50, “…50 Lalu mereka semua meninggalkan Dia dan lari pergi.”
It's interesting also to notice that Job, even though God said that he was
blameless and upright, and he feared God, and he rejected evil, he was accused
by his enemies as being a great sinner. Notice the words Eliphaz to Job in 22:4 and 5. Here Eliphaz
says to Job, “4 ‘Is it
because of your fear of Him that He corrects you, and enters
into judgment with you?...” in other words, “Is it really because
you fear God that all of these things are happening to you?” Notice verse
5, “…5 Is not
your wickedness great, and your
iniquity without end?” In other words, “it's not because you fear God, it's
because you are iniquitous that these things, these calamities are falling upon
you.”
Menarik juga menyimak bahwa Ayub, walaupun Allah sudah mengatakan
bahwa dia tidak bercacat dan benar, dan dia takut akan Allah, dan dia menolak
kejahatan, oleh musuh-musuhnya dia dituduh
sebagai pendosa besar. Simak perkataan Elifaz kepada Ayub di
pasal 22:4-5. Di sini Elifas berkata kepada Ayub, “4 Apakah karena takutmu akan Allah,
maka Dia mengoreksimu, dan berurusan penghakiman denganmu….” Dengan kata lain, “Apa benar ini karena kamu takut akan
Allah sehingga segala hal ini terjadi padamu?” Simak ayat 5, ”… 5 Bukankah kejahatanmu besar dan dosamu tidak berkesudahan?...” dengan kata lain, “ini bukan karena kamu
takut akan Allah, ini karena kamu penuh dosa sehingga semua hal ini, semua
bencana ini, jatuh kepadamu.”
Do you know that this is the very accusation that was made against Jesus
when He hung on the cross by His enemies? They said, “If this Man was of God, He wouldn't be
going through all of these sufferings that He's going through now.”
In fact allow me to read you a passage that we find in the Desire of Ages pages 760 and 761. Once again, The Desire of Ages pages 760 and 761. This magnificent biography of Jesus written by Ellen White, notice what
she says, “Satanic agencies confederated with evil men in leading the people to believe Christ the chief of sinners, and to make Him the object of detestation…” “detestation”
means somebody to be rejected, somebody to be refused. So notice, “…Satanic agencies confederated with evil men…”
just like in the story of Job “…in leading
the people to believe Christ the chief of sinners, and to make Him the object of detestation…” She continues
saying, “…Those who mocked
Christ as He hung upon the cross were imbued with the spirit of the first
great rebel. He filled them with vile and loathsome
speeches. He inspired
their taunts…”
So notice, that the enemies of Jesus taunted Him, the enemies of Jesus
filled their mouths with satanic arguments just like happened with the friends
of Job and with the enemies of Job.
Tahukah kalian bahwa ini
adalah tuduhan yang sama yang
dilontarkan kepada Yesus oleh musuh-musuhNya ketika Dia tergantung di salib?

terbesar, dan menjadikan Dia objek detestasi (kebencian) …” Ellen White melanjutkan
berkata, “…Mereka yang mengolok-olok Kristus saat
Dia tergantung di salib dipenuhi oleh roh si pemberontak besar yang pertama. Dia mengisi mereka dengan kata-kata yang jahat dan
menjijikkan. Dia menginspirasi ejekan-ejekan mereka…” Jadi simak, musuh-musuh Yesus mengejek Dia, musuh-musuh Yesus mengisi
mulut mereka dengan argumentasi sataniah, sama seperti yang terjadi dengan teman-teman Ayub dan dengan musuh-musuh Ayub.
Another interesting parallel between Job and Jesus is the fact that both of
them were physically disfigured. Notice for example the description
that is given of Job in Job 2:7 and 8. It says there, “7 So Satan
went out from the presence of the Lord, and
struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of
his head. 8 And
he took for himself a potsherd…” that is a piece of pottery “…with which to scrape himself while he
sat in the midst of the ashes.”
Very interesting here, that Job had to scratch himself with a potsherd and
we find a little bit later in the story that when the three friends of Job come
to visit him to comfort him, they actually don't recognize him because he's so
physically disfigured according to the last couple of verses of Job chapter 2.
Paralel lainnya yang menarik
antara Ayub dan Yesus adalah fakta bahwa keduanya
menjadi cacat secara fisik. Simak misalnya deskripsi yang
diberikan tentang Ayub di Ayub 2:7-8. Dikatakan di sana, “7 Maka Setan keluar
dari hadirat TUHAN, dan memukul Ayub dengan borok yang
menyiksa dari telapak kakinya sampai ke ubun-ubun
kepalanya. 8 Lalu Ayub mengambil bagi
dirinya sepotong pecahan tembikar yang dipakainya untuk menggaruk dirinya, sambil duduk di tengah-tengah abu.”
Sangat menarik di
sini bahwa Ayub harus menggaruk dirinya dengan sepotong pecahan tembikar dan
kita temukan di kisah ini tak lama setelah ini, ketiga teman Ayub datang untuk
mengunjungi dia dan menghiburnya, mereka bahkan tidak mengenalinya karena secara fisik dia telah menjadi begitu jelek menurut dua ayat
terakhir dari Ayub pasal 2.
Now what about Jesus? Notice Isaiah 52:14 on the physical aspects of Jesus.
It says in Isaiah 52:14, “14 Just as
many were astonished at You, so
His visage was marred more than any man…” notice that the visage of Jesus was marred more than any man. This is a
Messianic prophecy. It says, “…and His form
more than the sons of men…” So this text indicates that Jesus was actually disfigured in His sufferings
in this earth.
Notice Isaiah 53:2 speaking once again about the Messiah, “2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry
ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we
should desire Him.” So clearly the
book of Isaiah indicates that the Messiah was not going to be physically
attractive. In fact, in His sufferings He was going to be disfigured.
Nah, bagaimana
dengan Yesus? Simak Yesaya 52:14 mengenai aspek fisik Yesus. Dikatakan di
Yesaya 52:14, “14 Seperti banyak orang akan tertegun melihatMu, demikianlah wajahNya rusak lebih daripada wajah
manusia mana pun…” simak wajah Yesus
rusak lebih daripada wajah manusia mana pun. Ini adalah nubuatan mesianik.
Dikatakan, “…dan bentuknya
lebih (rusak) daripada anak-anak manusia…” Jadi ayat ini
mengindikasikan bahwa sesungguhnya Yesus menjadi cacat oleh
penderitaan-penderitaanNya di dunia ini.
Simak Yesaya 53:2, sekali lagi bicara tentang Sang
Mesias, “…2 Sebab Ia akan tumbuh di hadapan TUHAN sebagai tanaman yang lembut dan sebagai tunas yang keluar dari
tanah yang gersang. Ia tidak punya
bentuk (bentuknya tidak bagus) maupun ketampanan, dan bila kita
melihatNya, tidak ada keindahan padaNya yang membuat kita menginginkanNya.” Jadi jelas kitab
Yesaya mengindikasikan bahwa Sang
Mesias tidak akan menarik secara fisik. Bahkan, dalam penderitaanNya Dia akan
menjadi cacat.
Another interesting parallel between Job and Jesus is the fact that both of
them were mocked by the multitudes. They were mocked by the nations. We
noticed first of all that the family forsook Job, then we notice also that his
friends forsook him, and did not understand him, but also the surrounding
nations, the multitudes scorned Job. Notice Job 16:9 through 11. He's speaking
about what he appears to think that God is doing to him. “9 He
tears me in His
wrath, and hates me; He gnashes at me with His teeth; my adversary sharpens His
gaze on me…” and then he goes
to the plural. “…10 They gape at me with their mouth,
they strike me reproachfully on the cheek…” I want you to remember these things “…10 They gape at me
with their mouth, they strike me reproachfully on the cheek they gather
together against me. 11 God has
delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over to the hands of the wicked.”
You know the description which is given of Jesus while He was on the cross
is very similar.
Notice Matthew 27:28-31, it says, “ 28 And they stripped
Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they
put it on His head,
and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked
Him…” notice the idea of mockery with
Jesus also, “…and mocked Him saying, ‘Hail, King of
the Jews!’ 30 Then they
spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head…” we just read a few moments ago that Job was
struck on his face. Verse 31, “… 31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off
Him, put His own clothes
on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.”
Paralel lain yang menarik antara Ayub dan Yesus adalah
fakta bahwa mereka berdua diolok-olok oleh banyak orang. Mereka diolok-olok oleh bangsa-bangsa.
Pertama kita melihat bahwa keluarganya meninggalkan Ayub, kemudian kita juga
melihat bahwa teman-temannya meninggalkannya, dan tidak memahaminya. Tetapi
juga bangsa-bangsa di sekitarnya, orang banyak menghina Ayub. Simak Ayub
16:9-11, dia bicara mengenai pendapatnya bahwa Allah-lah yang melakukan semua
itu kepadanya. “9 Dalam murka-Nya Dia
mencabik-cabik aku, dan membenci aku. Ia
menggertakkan giginya padaku; Lawanku mempertajam pandanganNya padaku…” Lalu dia berubah ke bentuk jamak. “…10 Mereka memandangku dengan mulut terbuka; mereka menamparku di pipi sebagai teguran;…” saya ingin kalian mengingat hal-hal ini, “…10 Mereka memandangku dengan mulut terbuka;
mereka menamparku di pipi sebagai teguran, mereka
berkumpul menjadi satu untuk memusuhi aku.11Allah telah menyerahkan aku kepada orang jahat dan menyerahkan aku
ke dalam tangan orang fasik.”
Kalian tahu,
deskripsi yang diberikan tentang Yesus ketika Dia berada di atas salib itu

itu dan memukulkannya ke kepala-Nya…” baru saja kita baca Ayub dipukul di wajahnya. Ayat 31, “…31
Dan sesudah mereka
mengolok-olok Dia, mereka menanggalkan jubah itu dariNya dan mengenakan
pakaian-Nya sendiri kepada-Nya, dan membawa Dia pergi
untuk disalibkan.”
Another very interesting parallel between Job and Jesus is the fact that both of
them were spit upon. Notice Job 17:6 it says there, “6 But He…” speaking about God, what God, he perceives
God to be doing with him. “…6 But He has made me a
byword of the people, and I have
become one in whose face men spit.”
Notice also Job 30:9-13 the same idea of the surrounding peoples spitting
in his face. Job 30 and beginning with verse 9, “9 And now
I am their taunting song; Yes, I am their byword. 10 They abhor me, they keep far from me; they do not
hesitate to spit in my face. 11 Because He
has loosed my bowstring and afflicted me, they have cast off restraint
before me…” in other words,
there's no restraint for these people that are abusing Job. Verse 12, “…12 At my right hand the rabble arises; they
push away my feet, and they raise against me their ways of destruction. 13 They break up my path,
they promote my calamity; they have no helper.”
Now notice what happened to Jesus in Matthew 26:67-68, very similar to the
experience of Job. It says there, “67 Then they spat in His
face…” that is in the face of Jesus “…and beat Him; and others struck Him…” we already read this about Job, “…struck Him with the
palms of their hands, 68 saying, ‘Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?’…” His crown and glory were torn away.

Simak juga Ayub 30:9-13,
konsep yang sama tentang orang-orang di sekitarnya meludahi wajahnya. Ayub 30
dan mulai dengan ayat 9, “9 Dan
sekarang aku menjadi nyanyian
olok-olok mereka. Ya, aku menjadi sindiran
mereka. 10 Mereka jijik padaku, mereka menjauhkan
diri dariku, mereka tidak enggan meludahi
mukaku, 11 karena Dia telah
melepaskan tali busurku dan menyesahku, mereka berbuat semena-mena terhadap aku…” dengan kata lain,
tidak ada yang mencegah orang-orang itu yang sedang menyakiti Ayub. Ayat 12, “…12 Di sebelah kananku bangkit para pengacau, mereka menyingkirkan kakiku,
dan mereka membangkitkan cara penghancuran mereka terhadap aku. 13
Mereka merusak jalanku, mereka mendukung bencanaku; mereka tidak ada yang membantu.”
Sekarang simak apa yang terjadi pada Yesus di Matius
26:67-68, sangat mirip dengan pengalaman Ayub. Dikatakan di sana, “67 Lalu mereka meludahi muka-Nya
dan memukulNya; dan orang-orang lain memukuli Dia dengan
telapak tangan mereka, 68 sambil
berkata, ‘Bernubuatlah kepada kami, hai
Mesias, siapakah yang memukul Engkau?’…” MahkotaNya dan
kemuliaanNya tercabik.
In fact, let's go to our next point, Job 19:9 speaks about the glory
of Jesus being removed from Him and His crown being removed from Him as
happened with Job. Let's read first of all about Job, and then we'll
read a statement about Jesus.
Job 19 and we'll read actually verses 9 through 11. speaking about God,
once again Job is perceiving that God is doing this to him. “9 He has
stripped me of my glory…” notice he's
saying God stripped me of my glory, “…and taken the crown from my head. 10 He breaks me down on
every side, and I am gone; my hope He has uprooted like a tree. 11 He has also kindled His
wrath against me…” notice that he's
feeling the wrath of God against him “…and He counts me as one of His enemies.”
Sebaiknya, mari kita ke poin berikutnya, Ayub 19:9 bicara
tentang kemuliaan Yesus dilepas dariNya
dan mahkotaNya dilepas dariNya, seperti yang terjadi pada Ayub.

In a very interesting statement that we find in the Desire of Ages pages 22 and 23 we find that Jesus also left
aside His throne and His glory to come to this world. It says there in Desire of Ages pages 22 and 23 speaking about
Jesus, “He might have retained the glory of Heaven,
and the homage of the angels. But He chose to give back the scepter…”
that's what a king has “…the scepter
into the Father’s hands, and to step down from the throne of the universe…”
in other words He set aside His glory and
He set aside His crown just as happened with Job.
Di pernyataan yang sangat
menarik yang ada di The Desire
of Ages hal. 22-23, kita lihat bahwa Yesus juga
meninggalkan takhtaNya dan kemuliaanNya untuk datang ke dunia ini. Dikatakan di
Desire of Ages hal. 22-23 bicara tentang Yesus, “…Dia bisa saja mempertahankan kemuliaan surgawi dan
penghormatan para malaikat. Tetapi Dia memilih untuk mengembalikan tongkat
kerajaan…” itu yang dipegang seorang
raja,
“…tongkat kerajaan ke tangan
Bapa, dan turun dari takhta alam semesta, …” dengan kata lain Dia
mengesampingkan kemuliaanNya dan Dia melepaskan mahkotaNya seperti yang terjadi
pada Ayub.
Another interesting detail about Job is that evidently after a period of suffering,
actually his
bones could be seen through his skin. He was suffering so terribly. Notice
Job 19:20 here Job says, “20 My bone
clings to my skin and to my flesh, and I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.”
In other words, he's just barely hanging on
to life according to this. And all of his bones can be seen.
Notice the very interesting Messianic prophecy in Psalm 22:17 which is
referring to Jesus. The whole Psalm 22 is a reference to Christ. Jesus it’s
speaking here and He says, “17 I can count
all My bones…” see, His bones
could be seen through His flesh
“…They look and stare
at Me.”

semua tulangnya bisa dilihat.
Simak nubuatan mesianik yang sangat menarik di Mazmur
22:17 yang mengacu ke Yesus. Seluruh Mazmur 22 itu mengacu ke Kristus. Yesus
sedang berbicara di sini dan Dia berkata, “…17 Aku bisa menghitung semua tulangKu…”
lihat, tulang-tulangNya tampak melalui
dagingnya. “…Mereka memandang dan memelototi Aku.”
Now another interesting parallel between Job and Jesus is the fact that both of
them cried out to God for answers, but in both cases God was silent and God did
not answer their pleas immediately. Notice, Job 16:12-13. Job once
again is describing his experience and he can't understand of course what's
happening. He wonders why God has turned against him and he says this, “12 I was at
ease, but He has shattered me…” speaking about God.
“…He also has taken me by
my neck, and shaken me to pieces; He has set me up for His target, 13 His archers surround me.
He pierces my heart and does not pity; He pours out my gall on the
ground…” That's an
important detail: “He pours out my gall on the ground”, You remember that gall was given to Jesus, it says, “21 But You
have become cruel to me…” and “do not hear me” (KJV). So he's suffering this terribly cruel
experience. He's crying out to God and God does not immediately answer his
pleas. It appears like even God has forsaken him. Notice Job 30:20 and 21 the
same idea of Job crying out and God not answering him. It says there in Job
30:20, “20 I cry
out to You, but You do not answer me; I stand up, and You regard me. 21 But You have become cruel to me; with the strength of Your hand You oppose me.”

hatiku dan tidak mengasihani aku; Dia mencurahkan empeduku ke tanah…” Ini detail yang
penting, “…Dia mencurahkan empeduku
ke tanah…” Kalian ingat,
minuman pahit diberikan kepada Yesus. Dikatakan, “21Tetapi Engkau menjadi kejam pada aku…” (Ayub 30:21) dan “…tidak mendengarku” (Ayub 30:20) Jadi dia menderita
pengalaman yang sangat kejam ini. Dia berseru kepada Allah dan Allah tidak
segera menjawab permohonannya. Tampaknya seolah-olah Allah pun telah
meninggalkannya. Simak Ayub 30:20-21, konsep yang sama Ayub berseru dan

Both Job and
Jesus were men of sorrows, acquainted with grief. In fact, notice Job 16:16 and 17 that Job actually shed an abundance of tears
as he was going through his sufferings, he was a man of sorrow, he was filled
with grief. Notice Job 16:16 and 17. Job says, “16 My face
is flushed from weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;…”
and then he says, “…17 although
no violence is in my
hands, and my prayer is pure….”
in other words, this is not happening to me
because I'm a big sinner, because I deserve what is taking place, there's no
violence in my hands, my prayer is pure, and my face is flushed with weeping,
in my eyelids are the shadow of death.
Notice that Jesus went through the same experience. Isaiah 53:3, once again
this is a Messianic prophecy speaking about Jesus, it says, “3 He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows
and acquainted with grief…” notice the idea of sorrows and grief. “…And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was
despised, and we did not esteem Him.”
Baik Ayub
maupun Yesus adalah orang-orang penuh duka, terbiasa dengan kesedihan. Bahkan, simak Ayub 16:16-17
bahwa Ayub benar-benar meneteskan banyak air mata ketika dia menjalani penderitaannya. Dialah
orang yang penuh duka, dia dipenuhi kesedihan. Simak Ayub 16:16-17, Ayub
berkata, “16 Wajahku merah
karena menangis, dan di kelopak mataku ada bayang kematian…” lalu katanya, “…17 walaupun tidak
ada kejahatan di
tanganku, dan doaku tulus…” dengan kata lain,
ini tidak terjadi kepadaku karena aku seorang pendosa besar, karena aku layak
mendapat apa yang terjadi. Di tanganku tidak ada kejahatan, doaku murni, dan
wajahku menjadi merah karena menangis, di kelopak mataku ada
bayang kematian.
Simak bahwa Yesus menjalani pengalaman yang sama. Yesaya
53:3 sekali lagi ini adalah nubuatan mesianik, berbicara tentang Yesus,
dikatakan, “…3 Ia dibenci dan ditolak
oleh manusia, seorang Manusia penuh duka dan yang terbiasa
dengan kesedihan…” simak konsep duka
dan kesedihan, “…dan kita seolah-olah menyembunyikan wajah kita
dariNya; Ia dianggap hina, dan kita
tidak menghargaiNya.”
We've already noticed that Job felt forsaken by God, every earthly support was removed,
in other words, not only did Job lose all of his possessions, he also for all
practical purposes lost the support of his family, he lost the support of his
friends, he lost his physical health, and now it appeared that even God had
forsaken him.
The same is true of Jesus when He hung on the cross, He had nothing in this
world to lean upon.
Notice Job 31:35 here Job wishes
that there would be One in Heaven who would listen to him. He says this, “35 Oh, that I
had one to hear me! Here is my mark. Oh, that the Almighty would answer
me, that my Prosecutor
had written a book!” In other words, “I
wish that God would answer me when I cry out.”
Kita sudah menyimak bahwa Ayub merasa ditinggalkan Allah,
setiap dukungan duniawinya telah
diambil, dengan kata lain, Ayub bukan saja telah
kehilangan semua hartanya, dia juga praktis kehilangan dukungan keluarganya,
dia kehilangan dukungan teman-temannya, dia kehilangan kesehatan jasmaninya,
dan sekarang sepertinya bahkan Allah pun telah meninggalkannya.
Hal yang sama dialami Yesus ketika Dia tergantung di
salib, tidak ada apa pun di dunia ini yang bisa diandalkanNya.
Simak Ayub 31:35 di sini Ayub berharap ada Satu di Surga
yang mau mendengarnya. Dia berkata demikian, “35 Ah, sekiranya ada yang
mendengarkan aku! --Inilah keinginanku! O, seandainya
Yang Mahakuasa mau menjawab aku! Sekiranya Jaksaku telah menuliskan kitab
tuduhannya.” Dengan kata lain, “Semoga Allah mau menjawabku ketika aku berseru.”
Notice Psalm 69:20 and 21, it's speaking here about Jesus and the fact that
Jesus also had no one to listen to Him. He had no one to answer His pleas. It
says there in Psalm 69:20, “20 Reproach
has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness; I looked for someone to take pity,
but there was none;
and for comforters, but I found none. 21 They also gave me gall for my food…” remember we noticed that in the story of
Job “…21 They also gave me gall
for my food and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.”
Both of these men
apparently were forsaken by everyone, they lost everything, and it appeared that even God had turned
against them.
Simak Mazmur 69:20-21, ini
bicara tentang Yesus dan faktanya bahwa Yesus juga tidak punya siapa pun yang
mendengarNya. Dia tidak punya siapa pun untuk menjawab permohonanNya. Dikatakan
di Mazmur 69:20, “20
Teguran telah mematahkan hatiku, dan aku penuh dengan kekecewaan; aku mencari seseorang yang berbelas kasihan, tetapi
tidak ada satu pun; dan para penghibur, tetapi

haus-Ku, mereka memberi Aku cuka untuk

Kedua orang ini
jelas telah ditinggalkan oleh semua, mereka kehilangan semuanya dan tampaknya bahkan Allah
pun telah berbalik dar mereka.
Notice in the case of Jesus, Matthew 27:46, the words that Jesus speaks to
His Father while He's hanging on the cross, Matthew 27:46, this is slightly
before Jesus dies on the cross of Calvary. It says there, “ 46 And about the ninth
hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’…”
You see, Job and Jesus had basically the same prayer. They felt
forsaken by everyone including God Himself, and they were going through
suffering without any apparent reason at all.
Simak dalam kasus Yesus, Matius 27:46, kata-kata yang
diucapkan Yesus kepada BapaNya sementara Dia tergantung di salib. Matius 27:46,
ini sedikit waktu sebelum Yesus mati di atas salib di Kalvari. Dikatakan di
sana, “46

Kalian lihat, Ayub dan Yesus
pada dasarnya menyerukan doa yang sama. Mereka merasa ditinggalkan semua orang termasuk Allah Sendiri,
dan mereka sedang mengalami penderitaan tanpa alasan yang nyata.
Notice Desire of Ages page 753 about
these terrible sufferings of Jesus where He actually sheds these tears, and He
suffers alone. It says there “But now with the terrible weight of guilt He bears,
He cannot see the
Father’s reconciling face…”
See, Jesus could not see His Father's face. “…The
withdrawal of the divine
countenance from the Saviour in this hour of supreme
anguish pierced His heart with
a sorrow that can never be fully understood by man. So great was this agony that His physical
pain was hardly felt.”
Simak Desire of Ages
hal. 753 tentang
penderitaan hebat Yesus di mana dia benar-benar meneteskan air mata, dan Dia
menderita seorang Diri. Dikatakan di sana, “Tetapi sekarang sementara memikul beban perasaan berdosa
yang sangat berat, Dia tidak bisa melihat wajah BapaNya yang mendamaikan…” lihat, Yesus tidak bisa melihat wajah BapaNya.
“…Dipalingkannya wajah Ilahi dari Sang Juruselamat di saat puncak
ketakutanNya, menikam hatiNya dengan kesedihan yang tidak pernah bisa dipahami
seluruhnya oleh manusia. Begitu besar kesengsaraanNya sehingga sakit fisikNya
nyaris tidak terasa…”
You know, you read the story of Job, you don't find Job complaining about
his physical suffering. You don't see, “Oh,
but you know, I have this terrible disease, you know, I have to scratch myself
with the potsherd and I'm bleeding, and everything is so painful.” You never
hear Job complaining about his physical pain because his spiritual anguish is
so great, because his Friend apparently has turned against him, his
family, all of his friends, the multitudes, have turned against him and he
can't understand why this is happening. And with Jesus the same transpired.
Kalian tahu, kita membaca kisah Ayub, kita tidak
menemukan Ayub mengeluh tentang penderitaan jasmaninya. Kita tidak melihat, “Oh, aku punya penyakit yang mengerikan ini, aku harus
menggaruk diriku dengan sekeping pecahan tembikar dan aku berdarah-darah, dan
semuanya begitu menyakitkan.” Kita tidak pernah mendengar Ayub
mengeluhkan sakit fisiknya karena penderitaan rohaninya itu begitu parah,
Sahabatnya ternyata telah berbalik terhadapnya, keluarganya, semua temannya,
orang-orang banyak telah berpaling darinya dan dia tidak bisa mengerti mengapa
ini terjadi. Dan hal yang sama
terjadi pada Yesus.
Notice another statement Desire of Ages
page 753 same page, different statement. “Satan with his fierce
temptations wrung the heart of Jesus. The Saviour could not see through
the portals of the tomb.
Hope did not present to Him His coming forth from the grave a
conqueror, or tell Him of the
Father’s acceptance of the sacrifice.
He feared that sin was so offensive to
God that Their separation was to be eternal…”
And meanwhile Satan is saying to Jesus as he said to Job, “It's because You're bearing all of these
sins that this is happening to You. And if You go forward with it, You're going
to be separated from Your Father forever.”
The difference is that Jesus was actually bearing the sins of the whole
world upon Himself and the Devil was saying to Him, “It's because of those sins that You're suffering this and You're never
going to see Your Father's face again.”

“…Dengan godaan-godaannya yang sengit,
Setan meremas-remas hati Yesus. Sang Juruselamat tidak bisa melihat melampaui
gerbang kubur. Harapan tidak menampakkan kepadaNya kebangkitanNya dari kubur
sebagai seorang pemenang, atau menyampaikan kepadaNya bahwa BapaNya berkenan
menerima kurban itu. Dia takut dosa itu begitu menjijikkan bagi Allah sehingga
perpisahan Mereka bersifat kekal.”
Dan sementara itu Setan berkata kepada Yesus sebagaimana dia berkata
kepada Ayub, “Ini karena Engkau memikul semua dosa ini sehingga hal
ini terjadi padaMu. Dan jika Engkau melanjutkan rencana itu, Engkau akan
dipisahkan dari BapaMu selamanya.”
Bedanya, Yesus sungguh-sungguh sedang memikul Sendiri
dosa seluruh dunia, dan Iblis berkata kepadaNya, “Ini karena
dan dosa-dosa itu maka Engkau menderita ini, dan Engkau tidak akan pernah
melihat wajah BapaMu lagi.”
In the story of Job in the Old Testament, the Devil also accused Job of being a
great sinner. But Job said, “You
can look at my life and in my life I have consecrated myself totally to the
Lord. I fear Him and I reject evil.”
And the Devil whispers to Jesus, you know, “How can You trust a God that treats You this way? If God really loved
You, do You think that God would leave You suffering on the cross like this?” He says, “Sin
is so great that You're going to be eternally separated from Your Father.”
Di kisah Ayub di Perjanjian Lama, Iblis juga menuduh Ayub sebagai seorang pendosa besar. Tetapi Ayub
berkata, “Engkau boleh lihat hidupku, dan dalam hidupku aku telah
menyerahkan diriku sepenuhnya kepada Tuhan. Aku takut padaNya dan aku menolak
yang jahat.”
Dan Iblis berbisik kepada
Yesus, “Bagaimana Engkau bisa
mempercayai Allah yang memperlakukan Engkau seperti ini? Andai Allah
benar-benar mengasihiMu, Kaupikir apakah Allah akan meninggalkan Engkau
menderita di salib seperti ini?” Dia berkata, “Dosa itu sebegitu besarnya
sehingga Engkau akan selamanya terpisah dari BapaMu.”
Notice Job 13:23 and 24, how Job feels this anguish because he looks for
sins and he can't find sins in his life that would justify the experience that
he's going through. Job 13:23 and 24. Here Job says, “23 How
many are my
iniquities and sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin. 24 Why do You hide Your
face, and regard me as Your enemy?” In other words, he's saying, “Show me
my sins.” In fact, at the beginning of the story of Job we find that God
Himself said that Job was a man who feared God, he rejected evil, he was
blameless, and he was upright. In other words, God Himself confessed that, that
Job was a righteous man. And yet Job says,
“Show me my iniquities which would justify what is happening to me now.”
Simak Ayub 13:23-24, bagaimana Ayub merasakan penderitaan
ini karena dia mencari dosa dan dia tidak bisa menemukan dosa dalam hidupnya
yang bisa melayakkan dia mengalami apa yang sedang dialaminya. Ayub 13:23-24, di sini Ayub
berkata, “23 Berapa banyak kesalahan dan dosaku? Beritahukanlah
kepadaku pelanggaran dan dosaku. 24 Mengapa Engkau menyembunyikan
wajah-Mu, dan menganggap aku sebagai musuh-Mu?” Dengan kata lain,
dia berkata, “Tunjukkan
dosa-dosaku.” Sesungguhnya di bagian awal
kisah Ayub kita melihat Allah sendiri berkata bahwa Ayub adalah manusia yang
takut akan Allah, dia menolak yang jahal, dia tidak punya cela,
dan dia benar. Dengan kata lain, Allah sendiri mengakui bahwa Ayub adalah orang
yang benar. Namun Ayub berkata, “Tunjukkan dosa-dosaku yang membuat aku layak menerima

You know, with Job, as I mentioned with Jesus, his physical sufferings were
secondary to his deep spiritual anguish. In fact allow me to read you from Job 9:32
and 33, and then I'm going to read you a passage from Desire of Ages.
Job 9:32 and 33, “32 For He is not a man as I am…” Job is speaking about God
“…that I may
answer Him, and that we
should go to court together. 33 Nor is
there…” now notice this, “…any mediator between us, who may
lay his hand on us both.” In other words,
Job here is pleading for a mediator. He wants somebody to stand between him and
God, and yet there is no one that mediates between God and himself.
Notice Desire of Ages page 686 speaking
about Jesus, it says, “As the substitute and surety for sinful
man, Christ was suffering under divine justice. He saw what justice
meant. Hitherto He had been as
an intercessor for others; now He
longed to have an intercessor for Himself.” So just like Job, Jesus longed to have an intercessor with His Father
because He knew that if He could present His case before His Father, His Father
would see things as He did. And yet the answer of God was silence.
Kalian tahu, dengan Ayub, sebagaimana yang saya katakan dengan
Yesus, penderitaan fisiknya itu nomor dua dibandingkan kesengsaraan rohaninya.
Nah, izinkan saya membacakan dari Ayub 9:32-33, kemudian saya akan membacakan
untuk kalian dari Desire of Ages.
Ayub 9:32-33, “32 Karena Dia bukan manusia seperti
aku,…” Ayub bicara
tentang Allah, “…sehingga aku boleh
menjawab-Nya, dan kami bersama-sama bisa pergi ke pengadilan. 33 Juga
tidak ada…” sekarang simak ini, “…penengah di
antara kami, yang bisa meletakkan tangannya
pada kami berdua!…” dengan kata lain, di sini Ayub memohon adanya seorang
penengah/perantara. Dia ingin ada yang berdiri di antara dia dan Allah, namun
tidak ada yang memediasi antara Allah dan dirinya.

tentang Yesus, dikatakan, “Sebagai pengganti dan jaminan bagi manusia
berdosa, Kristus menderita di bawah keadilan ilahi. Dia melihat apa artinya
keadilan. Sampai saat ini Dia yang menjadi perantara bagi orang-orang lain,
sekarang Dia rindu memilki seorang perantara bagi DiriNya sendiri.”
Jadi seperti Ayub, Yesus rindu punya seorang perantara
pada BapaNya karena Dia tahu bahwa jika Dia bisa mengajukan kasusNya di hadapan
BapaNya, BapaNya akan punya pandangan yang sama dengan DiriNya. Namun jawaban
Allah hanya hening.
Now you remember in our first study that Job had these moments where he was
deep in the valley, and then he would come up to the mountaintop; in other
words, his faith would rise and he would say, “I know that my Redeemer lives…”, “I know that at
the end of the days God is going to resurrect me”, and “in
this flesh of mine I'm going to see God.”
And the fact is, Job 13:15, Job in one of his higher moments
says, “15 Though He
slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him”.
Nah, kalian ingat dalam
pelajaran kita yang pertama, Ayub mengalami saat-saat ketika dia sedang berada
jauh di kedalaman lembah, kemudian dia akan keluar dan berada di puncak gunung;
dengan kata lain imannya akan naik, dan dia berkata, “25 …aku tahu Penebusku hidup…”, “aku tahu bahwa di akhir zaman Allah akan membangkitkan aku”, “26 ….Dan… dalam dagingku
aku akan melihat Allah.” (Ayub 19:25-26)
Dan kenyataannya ialah Ayub, di Ayub 13:15, di saat salah
satu momen ketika dia merasa berada di atas, dia berkata, “15 Walaupun Dia membunuhku, namun aku akan tetap
percaya padaNya. Biarpun demikian, aku hendak membela perilakuku di
hadapan-Nya.”
Do you know Jesus had the same experience? Immediately after Jesus said, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” The very next words that He spoke
expressed faith and confidence in His Father. In one breath He's crying out to
His Father, “Father, I feel that You've
forsaken Me”, but in the next breath He says, “Father into
Your hands I commend My Spirit…” that's Luke
23:46, “…into your hands I commend My Spirit and
having said this He breathed His last.”
In other words, Jesus and Job even though they were going through this intense
experience, refused to let go of the hand of God.
Tahukah kalian Yesus punya
pengalaman yang sama? Segera setelah Yesus berkata, “46 …‘Allah-Ku, Allah-Ku, mengapa Engkau
meninggalkan Aku?’…” (Matius 27:46) kata-kata berikutnya yang Dia
ucapkan menyatakan iman dan kepercayaanNya kepada BapaNya. Dalam satu tarikan
nafas Dia berseru kepada BapaNya, “Bapa, Aku merasa Engkau telah
meninggalkan Aku”, tetapi dengan tarikan
nafas berikutnya Dia berkata, “46 … ‘Ya Bapa, ke dalam tangan-Mu
Kuserahkan Roh-Ku.’…” ini Lukas 23:46, “…ke dalam
tangan-Mu Kuserahkan Roh-Ku.’ Sesudah
berkata demikian, Ia mengembuskan napasNya yang
terakhir…”
Dengan kata lain, Yesus
dan Ayub walaupun mereka mengalami peristiwa yang begitu intens ini, mereka
menolak melepaskan tangan Allah.
Notice Job 27:4-6, here we find that Job refuses to release the
hand of God even though the Devil is telling him, “It's because of all of your sins that this is happening to you. How can
you trust a God that does this to you? How can you love a God that allows you
to suffer in this way?” And the Devil is trying to break his confidence in
God. Job hangs on for dear life to his relationship with God.
Notice Job 27:4. Job say, “4 My lips
will not speak wickedness, nor my
tongue utter deceit. 5 Far be it
from me that I
should say you are right; till I
die I will not put away my integrity from me.” Notice he says “…till I die I
will not put away my Integrity from me. 6 My
righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go; my heart
shall not reproach me as
long as I live…”
Simak Ayub 27:4-6, di sini kita melihat
Ayub menolak melepaskan tangan Allah walaupun Iblis berkata kepadanya, “Ini karena semua dosamu maka hal-hal ini terjadi padamu.
Bagaimana kamu bisa mempercayai Allah yang melakukan ini kepadamu? Mana kamu
bisa mengasihi Allah yang mengizinkan kamu menderita semacam ini?” Dan Iblis berusaha merusak kepercayaannya
pada Allah. Ayub terus memegang erat pada hubungannya
dengan Allah.
Simak Ayub 27:4,
Ayub berkata, “4 bibirku tidak
akan bicara yang jahat, maupun lidahku mengucapkan tipu
daya. 5 Jauh dariku akan mengatakan
kamu benar. Sampai mati pun aku tidak akan menyingkirkan integritasku dari diriku…” Simak dia berkata,
“…Sampai mati pun aku tidak akan menyingkirkan integritasku dari diriku. 6
Kebenaranku kupegang teguh, dan tidak akan
kulepaskan; hatiku tidak akan mencela aku seumur hidupku.”
You know, Job realized that his experience was actually a refining experience
that was going to benefit him in his future life. Notice Job 23:8-10 here Job understands
that the experience that he's going through is a refining experience, that is actually
going to make his character come forth from the furnace as pure gold. He says there,
“8 Look, I
go forward, but He is not there,
and backward, but I cannot perceive Him…” see, I can't find God anywhere. Verse 9, “… 9 When He works on the left
hand, I cannot behold Him; when
He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him…” but then notice
verse 10 “…10 But He
knows the way that I take; when He
has tested me, I shall come forth as gold...” “I know that this
is a good experience for the refinement of my character.”
Kalian tahu, Ayub menyadari bahwa
pengalamannya sesungguhnya adalah
suatu proses pemurnian yang akan bermanfaat baginya
dalam kehidupannya yang akan datang. Simak Ayub 23:8-10, di sini Ayub mengerti
bahwa pengalaman yang dijalaninya adalah suatu pengalaman pemurnian, yang malah
akan membuat karakternya muncul dari tungku api bagaikan emas murni. Dia
berkata di sana, “8 Lihatlah, aku berjalan ke depan, tetapi Ia tidak
di sana; dan aku berjalan ke belakang,
tetapi aku tidak melihat Dia…” lihat, aku tidak
bisa menemukan Allah di mana pun. Ayat 9, “…9 Bila Dia bekerja di sebelah tangan kiri, aku
tidak bisa melihatNya, bila Dia beralih ke tangan kanan, aku tidak
bisa melihat Dia…” tetapi simak ayat 10, “…10 Tetapi Ia
tahu jalan yang kuambil; setelah Ia menguji aku, aku akan keluar seperti emas…” “Aku tahu ini
adalah pengalaman yang baik demi pemurnian karakterku.”
By the way do you know that Jesus also went through suffering to
prepare His character so that He could serve as our Mediator in the Heavenly
court? It was also a refining experience for Christ. Notice Hebrews 5:7-10 it's
speaking about the sufferings of Jesus, and it says, “7 who, in the days of His flesh…” that is while He was on this earth, “…when He had offered up prayers and
supplications, with vehement cries and tears…” see the experience of Job there
“…and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was
heard because of His godly fear,8 though He
was a Son, yet He
learned obedience by the things which He suffered…” doesn't mean that Jesus was disobedient, it
means that He grew ever more in obedience. And so it says, “…8 though He was a
Son, yet He
learned obedience by the things which He suffered 9 And having been
perfected…” that means refined; having his character
been set once and for all “…He became the author of eternal salvation
to all who obey Him…”
Nah, tahukah kalian bahwa Yesus juga mengalami penderitaan
untuk mempersiapkan karakterNya supaya Dia bisa melayani sebagai Perantara kita
di pengadilan surgawi. Itu juga suatu pengalaman untuk
pemurnian buat Kristus. Simak Ibrani 5:7-10 bicara tentang
penderitaan Yesus, dikatakan, “7 yang semasa hidup-Nya sebagai manusia…” yaitu ketika Dia
hidup di bumi, “…setelah Ia
mempersembahkan doa dan permohonan dengan ratap tangis dan air mata…” lihat, pengalaman Ayub di sini, “…dan air mata kepada Dia yang sanggup
menyelamatkan-Nya dari maut, dan karena kesalehan-Nya Ia telah didengarkan. 8
Dan sekali pun Ia adalah Anak, namun Ia telah belajar taat dari apa yang telah diderita-Nya…” tidak berarti Yesus tadinya tidak taat, artinya Dia
semakin bertumbuh melalui ketaatan. Maka dikatakan, “…8 Dan sekali pun Ia adalah Anak, namun Ia telah belajar taat dari apa yang telah diderita-Nya,9dan
sesudah Ia disempurnakan,…” artinya terpoles sangat halus, setelah karakterNya
dimantapkan sekali untuk selamanya, “…Ia
menjadi pencipta keselamatan yang abadi bagi
semua orang yang taat kepada-Nya.”
Now it's interesting also to notice that Job seeks for sin in his life and
he cannot find any sin in his life. Notice Job 31:5-6. here Job says, “5 If I have
walked with falsehood, or if my foot has hastened to deceit, 6 let me be weighed on honest scales, that God may know
my integrity.” In other words,
he says, “I'm willing to have God weigh
me on His scales, and He's going to see that I have integrity, that there is no
sin in my life which would bring this about that I'm suffering.”
Nah, yang menarik juga ialah melihat bahwa Ayub mencari
dosa dalam hidupnya tetapi dia tidak bisa menemukannya. Simak Ayub 31:5-6, di
sini Ayub berkata, “5
Jikalau aku telah hidup dengan kepalsuan,
atau jika kakiku telah bergegas ke penipuan, 6
biarlah aku ditimbang dengan neraca yang jujur, agar
Allah boleh tahu integritasku.” Dengan kata lain
Ayub berkata, “Aku bersedia ditimbang Allah di neracaNya, dan Dia akan melihat bahwa aku
punya integritas, bahwa tidak ada dosa dalam hidupku yang layak mendatangkan
apa yang sedang aku derita.”
By the way in Desire of Ages page 761
we find that Jesus as He hung on the cross was also sinless. Notice Desire of Ages page 761. Of course He was
sinless in His own character but He was bearing the sins of the world. Ellen
White says this, “Could one sin have been found in Christ, had He in one particular yielded to Satan to escape the
terrible torture, the enemy of God and man would have triumphed. Christ bowed His head and died, but He held fast His faith and His submission
to God.” Not one sin could be found in Jesus other than the sins that He was bearing
for the world.

mendapati Yesus ketika Dia tergantung di salib juga tidak punya dosa. Simak Desire of Ages

Yesus tidak punya dosa dari karakterNya sendiri tetapi Dia sedang memikul
dosa-dosa dunia. Ellen White mengatakan ini, “…Andaikan ada satu dosa saja ditemukan pada Kristus,
andaikan Dia pernah sekali saja menyerah kepada Setan untuk meloloskan DiriNya dari penyiksaan yang hebat, maka musuh Allah dan manusia
sudah menang. Kristus menundukkan kepalaNya dan mati, tetapi Dia memegang teguh
imanNya dan penyerahanNya kepada Allah.” Tidak ada satu dosa pun yang
bisa ditemukan pada Yesus selain dosa-dosa yang dipikulNya bagi dunia.
In other words, both Job and Jesus lost every earthly support. The Devil tried
to shake their confidence and their relationship with God the Father, but the
Devil could not do it with Job, and the Devil could not do it with Jesus.
Dengan kata lain, baik
Ayub maupun Yesus kehilangan
semua dukungan duniawi. Iblis berusaha mengguncang kepercayaan mereka dan
hubungan mereka dengan Allah Bapa, tetapi Iblis tidak berhasil pada Ayub dan
Iblis juga tidak berhasil pada Yesus.
By the way, do you know that in the experience of Job the vile character of Satan
was revealed before the whole universe? We noticed in Job chapter 1 and
Job chapter 2 that this experience is taking place in the presence of the
Heavenly council. In other words, God is saying to the Heavenly council, “Look at Job!” And He's saying to the
Devil, “Take everything he has, take his
health, only don't kill him. And you'll notice that he's going to continue
serving Me because he loves Me even if calamities come.”
Nah, tahukah kalian bahwa melalui pengalaman Ayub, karakter jahat Setan terkuak di
hadapan seluruh alam semesta? Kita simak di Ayub pasal 1 dan
Ayub pasal 2, bahwa pengalaman ini terjadi di hadapan mata dewan Surgawi.
Dengan kata lain, Allah berkata kepada dewan Surgawi, “Lihatlah
Ayub!” Dan Dia berkata kepada Iblis, “Ambil
semua miliknya, ambil kesehatannya, hanya jangan bunuh dia. Dan kamu akan
melihat bahwa dia akan tetap mengabdi kepadaKu karena dia mengasihi Aku
walaupun malapetaka datang padanya.”
God the Father said the same about Jesus before the Heavenly beings, “I'm going to send Him to the world. You
can do your utmost to tempt Him, you can do your utmost to make Him suffer, you
can take everything from Him and you will see that He will be faithful to Me.”
Allah Bapa mengatakan yang sama tentang Yesus di hadapan
dewan Surgawi. “Aku akan mengutusNya ke dunia. Kamu bisa melakukan
apa saja untuk mencobai Dia, kamu boleh melakukan yang maksimal untuk
membuatNya menderita, kamu boleh ambil segalanya dari Dia dan kamu akan melihat
Dia tetap akan setia kepadaKu.”
In fact, allow me to read you a very significant passage, Desire of Ages page 761 about the sufferings
of Jesus. Desire of Ages page 761, speaking
about the death of Jesus on the cross and the way that the Devil made Him
suffer.
“Satan saw that his disguise was torn away. His administration
was laid open before the unfallen angels and before
the Heavenly universe. He had revealed himself as a murderer. By shedding the blood
of the Son of God, he had uprooted himself from the sympathies of the
Heavenly beings. Henceforth his work was restricted. Whatever attitude he might assume,
he could no longer await the angels
as they came from the Heavenly
courts, and before them accuse Christ’s brethren of being clothed with the garments of blackness and the defilement of sin. The last link of sympathy between Satan and the Heavenly world was broken.”
Nah, izinkan saya membacakan suatu kutipan yang sangat
signifikan, Desire of
Ages hal. 761 mengenai penderitaan Yesus. Desire of Ages
hal. 761, bicara
tentang kematian Yesus di salib dan cara Iblis membuatNya menderita.
“…Setan melihat penyamarannya telah terbongkar,
pemerintahannya terbuka di depan para malaikat yang tidak berdosa dan di depan
seluruh alam semesta. Dia telah menyatakan dirinya sebagai pembunuh. Dengan
menumpahkan darah Anak Allah, dia telah mencabut dirinya dari simpati
makhluk-makhluk surgawi. Mulai saat itu pekerjaannya terbatas. Sikap apa pun
yang dipakainya, dia tidak bisa lagi menunggu para malaikat yang datang dari
pengadilan surgawi, dan di hadapan mereka mendakwa bahwa saudara-saudara
Kristus itu berjubahkan kegelapan dan kenajisan dosa. Mata rantai simpati yang terakhir antara Setan dengan
dunia surgawi pun putus…
In other words, the story of Job was given in the Old
Testament to show the Heavenly intelligences what was going to happen when
Jesus would come to this world. In fact
I have no doubts whatsoever that as Jesus was going through His experience, the
people in Heaven, the beings in Heaven were remembering the experience of Job,
and they were saying this experience of Jesus is taking place on a much larger
scale than the experience of Job. The experience of Job, in other words, illustrated
the experience through which Jesus went.
Dengan kata lain, kisah Ayub diberikan di Perjanjian Lama
untuk menunjukkan kepada makhluk-makhluk surgawi apa yang akan terjadi saat
Yesus datang ke dunia ini. Bahkan, tidak diragukan lagi ketika Yesus menjalani
pengalamanNya itu, makhluk-makhluk di Surga teringat pengalaman Ayub, dan
mereka berkata bahwa pengalaman Yesus ini terjadi dalam skala yang jauh lebih besar daripada

Now there are two senses in which Jesus exceeded the experience of Job. You
remember that I mentioned that we're dealing with typology here. Job is the
type and Jesus is the anti-type. Job is the shadow and Jesus is the substance
or the reality. You know the shadow is never identical to the substance. In
other words, the type is never as great as the anti-type. In other words, Job is a small scale model of the
experience that Jesus would go through.
There are two senses in which Jesus exceeded Job:
1. first of all Job was not allowed to die.
Jesus did die.
2. and secondly Job was not bearing upon
himself the sins of the world.
In other words,
Job was innocent and yet he was suffering. Jesus was innocent, but He was
bearing upon Himself the sins of the whole world, and that is what led to the
sufferings of Jesus.
So in other words, Jesus was far greater than Job, His sufferings were
greater because He was bearing sin. The Devil hated Jesus all the more than he
hated Job.
Nah, ada dua pengertian di mana Yesus melampaui apa yang
dialami Ayub. Kalian ingat saya pernah mengatakan bahwa kita sedang berurusan
dengan tipologi di sini. Ayub adalah tipenya dan Yesus itu antitipenya. Ayub
adalah bayangannya dan Yesus itu substansi atau realitanya. Kalian tahu, bayangan
itu selamanya tidak persis dengan substansinya. Dengan kata lain, tipe itu
tidak pernah sebagus antitipenya. Dengan kata lain, Ayub adalah model skala
kecil dari pengalaman yang akan dialami oleh Yesus.
Ada dua pengertian di mana Yesus melampaui Ayub:
1. Ayub tidak diizinkan mati. Yesus mati.
2. Ayub tidak memikul sendiri dosa-dosa dunia.
Dengan kata lain Ayub tidak bersalah, namun dia menderita.
Yesus tidak bersalah, tetapi Dia sedang memikul dosa-dosa seluruh dunia, dan
itulah yang menyebabkan penderitaan Yesus.
Jadi dengan kata lain, Yesus jauh lebih besar daripada
Ayub, penderitaanNya lebih besar karena Dia sedang memikul dosa-dosa. Iblis
membenci Yesus jauh lebih hebat daripada Ayub.
Now what was the secret of the victory of Jesus in His trials here on earth?
Well, it was the same secret that Job had when he overcame
the Devil, as the Devil came and put him through all of this suffering.
You know Job
was close to God in times of prosperity. We noticed that in our study
last time, that Job kept his Integrity when things went well. He was a family
man, he offered the sacrifices for each of his children on a regular basis,
daily the Bible says. In fact, Job himself says, “In times of prosperity I was clothing to the naked, I was eyes to the
blind, I was a blessing of giving necessary things to the poor.” In other
words, “I use all of my riches to benefit
humanity.” We noticed that in our last study. In other words, Job had a
very strong relationship with God in times of prosperity. And because
he had this strong grasp on God in times of prosperity, when times of adversity and difficulty became, he could lean on the
experience which he had developed previously with God.
Nah, apakah rahasia kemenangan Yesus dari
pencobaan-pencobaanNya di dunia ini? Nah, itu adalah rahasia yang sama yang dimiliki Ayub ketika dia mengalahkan
Iblis, saat Iblis datang dan membuat dia
mengalami semua penderitaan itu. Kalian tahu, Ayub dekat kepada Allah di masa sejahtera.
Kita sudah menyimak itu di pelajaran kita yang lalu, bahwa Ayub mempertahankan
integritasnya ketika semuanya baik-baik. Dia mengasihi keluarganya, dia
mempersembahkan kurban bagi setiap anak-anaknya secara teratur, setiap hari, menurut
Alkitab. Bahkan Ayub sendiri berkata, “Di masa
sejahtera aku adalah pakaian bagi yang telanjang, mata bagi yang buta, aku
adalah berkat dengan memberikan hal-hal yang dibutuhkan orang-orang miskin.” (Ayub
29:12-17). Dengan kata lain, “Aku
gunakan semua kekayaanku demi kepentingan kemanusiaan.” Kita sudah simak ini dalam pelajaran kita yang lalu. Dengan kata lain, Ayub punya hubungan yang sangat
kuat dengan Allah di masa sejahtera. Dan karena dia punya
pegangan kuat pada Allah di masa sejahtera, ketika datang masa buruk dan kesukaran, Ayub bisa
bersandar pada pengalaman yang telah dijalin sebelumnya dengan Allah.
Now I want to read you a passage in Desire
of Ages page 756 where Ellen White
describes the secret of the victory of Jesus. Once again the Desire of Ages page 756 speaking about Jesus as He hangs on the
cross. “Amid the awful darkness, apparently forsaken of God,…”
not really forsaken of God, because Job
wasn't forsaken of God either, it just appeared that way “…Amid the awful darkness, apparently forsaken of God,
Christ had drained the last dregs in the cup of human woe. In those dreadful hours He had relied…” notice this, “…In those dreadful hours He had relied upon the evidence
of His Father’s acceptance
heretofore given Him…” in other words, the evidences of His Father's presence up till this point,
in His previous experience. She continues saying,
“…He was acquainted with the character
of His Father; He understood His justice, His mercy, and His great
love.
By faith He rested in Him whom it had ever been His joy to obey…” do you see that His past experience colored the sufferings that He went
through? Once again,
“…By faith He rested in Him whom it had ever been His joy to obey. And as in submission He committed Himself
to God, the sense of the loss of
His Father’s favor was withdrawn. By faith, Christ was victor.”
Sekarang saya mau membacakan sebuah kutipan di Desire
of Ages hal. 756 di mana Ellen White menggambarkan rahasia kemenangan Yesus. Sekali lagi, The
Desire of Ages hal. 756, bicara tentang Yesus saat Dia tergantung di salib, “…Di tengah kegelapan yang mengerikan,
tampaknya telah ditinggalkan Allah…” tidak benar-benar ditinggalkan

kehadiran BapaNya hingga saat itu, dalam pengalamanNya sebelumnya. Ellen White
melanjutkan berkata, “…Dia kenal tabiat BapaNya Dia mengerti
keadilanNya, kemurahanNya, dan kasihNya yang besar. Dengan iman, Dia bersandar
pada Sang Bapa yang selalu Dia patuhi dengan penuh sukacita…” apakah kalian melihat bahwa pengalamanNya yang lampau mewarnai penderitaan
yang dialaminya? Sekali lagi, “…Dengan iman,
Dia bersandar pada Sang Bapa yang selalu Dia patuhi dengan penuh sukacita. Dan
sebagai tanda kepatuhanNya, Dia menyerahkan Dirinya kepada Tuhan, maka
memudarlah perasaan bahwa Dia telah kehilangan perkenan BapaNya. Dengan
mengandalkan iman, Kristus menjadi pemenang…”
Now do you remember in the experience of Job, that after he went through
these terrible trials and tribulations, that at the end of the book appears the
individual who caused all of the sufferings of Job. At the beginning of the
book his enemy is called Satan. At the end of the book, Satan is no longer
referred to with that name. He is called what? He is called Leviathan. And God
asks Job, He says, “Job, are you able to
fish Leviathan out of the sea, and to cut him in pieces? Or to take him as your
servant?” Of course Job would have understood immediately when God spoke of
Leviathan that this was the enemy of God, because in that cultural context it's
been discovered archaeologically that there was a creature called Leviathan or
Lotan, who had several heads, who was considered to be the enemy of the gods.
And so, suddenly it dawns on Job. He says,
“Oh, it's Leviathan who is doing this to me.” And then after God shows him
this portrait of Leviathan, Job says, “Now
I know that You can do all things. You can even defeat Leviathan. You can even
defeat the Devil.”
Nah, apakah kalian ingat pada pengalaman Ayub, setelah
dia mengalami semua ujian dan kesukaran yang mengerikan ini, pada akhir kitab
itu muncullah individu yang menyebabkan semua penderitaan Ayub. Di awal kitab
itu, musuh Ayub disebut Setan. Di bagian akhir kitab itu Setan tidak lagi
disebut dengan nama itu. Dia disebut apa? Dia disebut Leviatan.
Dan Allah bertanya kepada Ayub, Dia berkata, “Ayub, apakah kamu bisa memancing Leviatan keluar dari
laut, dan mencincangnya jadi potongan-potongan kecil? Atau mengambilnya menjadi
hambamu?” Tentu saja Ayub lalu segera
paham ketika Allah bicara tentang Leviatan, bahwa ini adalah musuh Allah,
karena di konteks budaya di sana secara arkeologis sudah ditemukan adanya seekor
makhluk yang disebut Leviatan atau Lotan, yang punya banyak kepala dan dianggap
sebagai musuh para dewa. Maka, tiba-tiba Ayub jadi paham, dia berkata, “Oh,
jadi Leviatan yang melakukan ini kepadaku.”
Kemudian setelah Allah menunjukkan gambaran Leviatan ini kepadanya, Ayub
berkata, “Sekarang aku tahu Engkau bisa melakukan apa saja. Engkau bahkan bisa
mengalahkan Leviatan. Engkau bahkan bisa mengalahkan Iblis.”
By the way, do you know that we're told in Scripture that Jesus is going to
defeat Leviathan, He's going to defeat the Devil and destroy him? Notice in the
Book of Revelation if you go with me to Revelation, let's read first of all in
chapter 12, and we're going to read about this multi-headed creature.
Revelation 12 and notice verse 9. It says, “ 9 So the great dragon was cast
out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives
the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out
with him.” Now this casting
out that is spoken of here, is the fact that the Devil before Jesus died on the
cross, could go to the Heavenly courts
representing this world, but after Jesus died on the cross he was cast out of
Heaven as the representative of this world.
Nah, tahukah kalian di Kitab Suci dikatakan bahwa Yesus
akan mengalahkan Leviatan, Dia akan mengalahkan Iblis dan membinasakannya?
Simak kitab Wahyu, jika kalian ke Wahyu bersama saya, mari kita baca lebih dulu
pasal 12, dan kita akan baca tentang makhluk
berkepala banyak ini. Wahyu 12 dan simak ayat 9, dikatakan, “ 9
Dan naga besar itu dilemparkan keluar, si ular tua, yang disebut
Iblis dan Satan, yang menyesatkan seluruh
dunia, dia dilemparkan ke bumi, dan malaikat-malaikatnya dilemparkan keluar bersama-sama dengan dia.” Nah, pelemparan
keluar yang dibicarakan di sini ialah karena Iblis sebelum kematian Yesus di
salib, dia bisa pergi ke istana Surgawi mewakili dunia ini. Tetapi setelah
Yesus mati di salib, Iblis sebagai wakil dari dunia ini, dilemparkan keluar dari Surga.
Now notice the names that he's given.
ü He's called the Great Dragon
ü he's called The Serpent of old
ü and he's called Satan
Do you know it's
very interesting we notice in our last study, in Isaiah chapter 27 that
Leviathan is called “the dragon”, and he is called “the serpent”. So you put it together:
ü the Dragon
ü Leviathan
ü the serpent
ü Satan, mentioned in the Book of Job
Make reference to Satan the enemy of Job and the enemy of God.
Sekarang simak nama-nama yang diberikan padanya:

Now the question is, what is going to be the end of this being who is
called the Devil, Satan, the dragon, and the serpent? Notice Revelation 20:7
and following, “7 Now when the thousand years have expired,
Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations
which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather
them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth
and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down
from God out of Heaven and…” what? “…and devoured them…” in other words, Satan, his angels and all of the wicked
people who oppressed Jesus, and the Devil who oppressed Job, eventually are going to be destroyed by the Lord Himself, just like He prophesied in Job chapter 41.
Sekarang pertanyaannya ialah,
bagaimana akhir dari makhluk ini yang disebut Iblis, Setan, naga, dan ular?
Simak Wahyu 20:7 dan seterusnya, “7 Dan
setelah masa seribu tahun itu berakhir, Setan
akan dilepaskan dari penjaranya, 8dan ia akan pergi menyesatkan bangsa-bangsa
pada keempat penjuru bumi, Gog dan Magog, guna mengumpulkan
mereka untuk berperang dan jumlah mereka sama dengan banyaknya pasir di laut. 9
Maka naiklah mereka ke seluruh dataran bumi, dan
mengepung perkemahan orang-orang kudus
dan kota yang dikasihi itu. Dan api turun dari Allah dari langit dan…” apa? “…melahap
mereka. …” Dengan kata lain, Setan,
malaikat-malaikatnya, dan semua orang jahat yang pernah menindas
Yesus, dan Iblis yang menindas Ayub, pada akhirnya
akan dibinasakan oleh Tuhan Sendiri, sama seperti yang Dia
nubuatkan di Ayub pasal 41.
And then you remember in the story of Job, that Job received a double
amount of the blessings that he had enjoyed before his trials. And of course the
Book of Revelation says that God is going to make a new Heavens and a new earth,
and those who have been oppressed by the Devil. Jesus Himself who went through these severe trials, is going to sit on the throne of God, and He's
going to reign on this earth forever and ever among His people. And so the
story of Job will have reached its fullest fulfillment at the end of the Millennium.
Kemudian kalian ingat kisah Ayub, bahwa Ayub menerima dua
kali lipat berkat yang dinikmatinya sebelum ujian-ujiannya. Dan tentu saja
kitab Wahyu mengatakan bahwa Allah akan membuat langit baru dan bumi baru, dan
mereka yang dulu ditindas oleh Iblis. Yesus sendiri yang telah
melewati ujian-ujian berat ini, akan duduk di takhta Allah dan Dia akan
memerintah di bumi selama-lamanya di antara umatNya. Dengan demikian kisah Ayub
mencapai penggenapannya yang lengkap di akhir Millenium.
Now there's one further dimension of the Book of Job which I'm going to
mention only in passing, and that is, that the experience of Job also is an illustration of
what's going to happen to God's people during the great final tribulation
in the history of this world. There are many texts in the Bible. I'll only
mention the concept. Perhaps those who are watching this now will be encouraged
to go to Scripture and look for the final fulfillment of this story of Job. But
the Bible tells us that in the end time, God's people are going to lose
the support of their family, they're going to lose the support of their
friends.
You can read it there in Matthew 24, in Mark 13, and Luke 21. They're going to
lose the support of friends, the nations are going to arise against them, and
they're going to go through a severe time of tribulation such as the world has
never seen. They're going to lose everything that they have. They're going
to lose houses, they're going to lose automobiles, they're going to lose the
money in the bank, they're going to lose every single earthly support on planet earth.
And when they go through the severe time of trouble, it's going to even appear
that God has forsaken them on this earth. In fact the story of the widow in
Luke chapter 18 where it says that this widow kept on coming, and coming, and
coming to the judge, so the judge would do justice against her adversary. The
adversary of course here is the Devil. And finally the judge says, “I'm going to do justice to her.” The
same is going to happen during the time of trouble. God's people will cry out day and
night, they will plead with the Lord to deliver them from the hands of
their enemies, who are being used by the Devil to persecute God's people. And
yet for
a while at least God will keep His silence. But just like in the Book
of Job where God after chapter 37 now is revealed in a great theophany. In other words,
He's revealed in Creation. At the end of time God is going to be revealed in
the midst of great scenes of nature. He's going to speak to His people
and He's going to invite His people to inherit the Kingdom, which was lost by
Adam. In other words, God's people are going to go through the same experience
that Job went through. They're going to suffer the same sufferings that he
suffered. They're going to feel like God has forsaken them but God will not
have forsaken them. God will be as close as ever even if they do not feel Him.
Sekarang ada satu lagi dimensi dari kitab Ayub yang akan
saya singgung hanya sekilas, dan itu ialah, pengalaman Ayub juga merupakan ilustrasi dari apa yang
akan terjadi kepada umat Allah selama Masa Kesukaran Besar dalam
sejarah dunia ini. Ada banyak ayat di Alkitab. Saya hanya akan menyebut

akan kehilangan dukungan teman-teman, bangsa-bangsa akan bangkit melawan
mereka, dan mereka akan mengalami suatu masa kesukaran yang belum
pernah dikenal dunia sampai sekarang. Mereka akan kehilangan segala milik mereka.
Mereka akan kehilangan rumah, mereka akan kehilangan mobil, mereka akan
kehilangan uang di bank, mereka akan
kehilangan setiap dukungan
duniawi di planet bumi. Dan ketika mereka melalui Masa Kesukaran
Besar itu, sepertinya Allah juga telah menelantarkan mereka di dunia ini.
Sesungguhnya kisah janda di Lukas 18 di mana dikatakan janda ini terus-menerus
datang, dan datang, dan datang ke si hakim agar hakim itu mau memberikan
keadilan atas musuhnya. Si musuh di sini tentu saja adalah Iblis. Dan akhirnya
hakim itu berkata, “Aku akan memberinya keadilan.” Hal yang sama akan terjadi selama Masa Kesukaran Besar. Umat Allah akan berseru siang
dan malam, mereka akan memohon Tuhan untuk menyelamatkan mereka
dari tangan musuh mereka, yang dipakai oleh Iblis untuk mempersekusi umat
Allah. Namun setidaknya untuk
sedikit waktu lamanya Allah akan bungkam. Tetapi seperti di
kitab Ayub di mana Allah setelah pasal 37 sekarang dinyatakan
dalam theofani (manifestasi yang nyata) yang besar. Dengan kata lain, Allah
dinyatakan dalam Penciptaan. Di
akhir masa Allah akan dinyatakan di tengah-tengah adegan-adegan besar dari alam.
Dia akan berbicara kepada umatNya dan Dia akan mengundang umatNya untuk
mewarisi Kerajaan yang dulu dihilangkan Adam. Dengan kata lain, umat Allah akan
melalui pengalaman yang sama yang dialami Ayub. Walaupun mereka akan menderita
kesengsaraan yang sama yang diderita Ayub, mereka akan merasa seolah-olah Allah
telah meninggalkan mereka. Tetapi Allah tidak meninggalkan mereka. Allah ada
malah lebih dekat walaupun mereka tidak merasakan kehadiranNya.
Now what can we learn from the story of Job? We can learn the fact that Job was
faithful to God in these severe trials because he knew God from the prosperous
times. In other words, he had a connection with God when things went well.
Now, these days we don't have persecution, we have many material possessions,
we have everything that the heart could desire, but are we developing that relationship
with God in these times of prosperity? Because times of adversity are
coming, where we're going to lose every earthly support. Are we so connected
with God that no matter if we lost everything, if we lost family, spouses,
friends, if the whole world turned against God's people, if we lost all of our
possessions, if we lost our health, if it appeared like we were going to lose
our life, would our relationship with God be so strong that we would say like
Job, “though He slay me yet will I trust in
Him”? That is the kind of faith that we are
going to have to develop in the end time.
Nah, apa yang bisa kita pelajari dari kisah Ayub? Kita
bisa belajar faktanya bahwa Ayub
itu setia kepada Allah dalam ujian-ujian yang berat ini karena dia mengenal
Allah di masa-masa sejahtera. Dengan kata lain, dia sudah punya hubungan dengan
Allah ketika semuanya baik-baik. Nah, di zaman kita sekarang
tidak ada persekusi, kita punya banyak harta materi, kita punya semua yang
diinginkan hati, tetapi apakah
kita membangun hubungan dengan Allah di masa sejahtera ini? Karena
masa kesukaran akan datang, di mana kita akan kehilangan semua dukungan duniawi.
Apakah kita sudah sedemikian terhubung dengan Allah sehingga walaupun kita
kehilangan segalanya, jika kita kehilangan keluarga, pasangan hidup,
teman-teman, jika seluruh dunia berbalik memusuhi umat Allah, jika kita
kehilangan semua milik kita, jika kita kehilangan kesehatan kita, jika
tampaknya sepertinya kita juga akan kehilangan nyawa kita, akankah
hubungan kita dengan Allah sedemikian kuat sehingga kita bisa berkata seperti
Ayub, “15
Walaupun Dia membunuhku, namun aku akan tetap
percaya padaNya…”(Ayub
13:15)? Iman seperti inilah yang harus kita kembangkan pada akhir
masa.
In fact, I'd like to end by reading a text that we find in Revelation
chapter 13, here it says in verse 9, “9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 He who leads into captivity shall go into
captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword…” and then it says,
“…Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”
Notice Revelation 14:12. “12 Here is the patience of the saints; here
are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
Yes, my friends, God's people will keep the faith. God's people like Job
will be patient, and in the end they will be victorious because they trust
their life to the Lord.
Nah, saya ingin
mengakhiri dengan membacakan ayat yang ada di Wahyu pasal 13, di sini dikatakan
di ayat 9, “ 9 Jika ada yang punya telinga, hendaklah ia mendengar! 10 Dia yang membawa orang masuk penawanan, dia akan
masuk ke dalam penawanan; dia yang membunuh dengan pedang, harus dibunuh
dengan pedang…” lalu dikatakan, “…Di sinilah
kesabaran dan iman orang-orang kudus.”
Simak Wahyu 14:12, “12 Di sinilah kesabaran
orang-orang kudus, inilah mereka yang memelihara perintah-perintah
Allah dan iman Yesus.”
Ya, teman-teman, umat Allah akan memelihara iman. Umat
Allah seperti Ayub akan sabar, dan pada akhirnya mereka akan menjadi
pemenang karena mereka mempercayakan hidup mereka kepada Tuhan.
