Okay, we are on page 21 of our syllabus, right at the middle of the page.

We've been talking about the chronological point at which the gift of prophecy would rise in the last days, and basically what we did is show:

ü   that the Little Horn thought that it could change two things: the times ~ God's prophetic times or God's prophetic calendar ~ and the Law of God.

ü   And then in the time of the end, God would raise up a people that would restore the true prophetic scenario, would restore the times, and would also restore the Law of God,

ü   and God called Ellen White to be the messenger to the remnant, to restore both of these things.

Now let's continue here at the middle of page 21.

The Seventh-Day Adventist Church today finds itself at a hermeneutical crossroads. The word “hermeneutics” means how we interpret the Bible. Some theologians within the church are even now questioning the soundness of the historical hermeneutical methodology, and I'll just make a parenthesis there.

v   There's a pastor of a rather large institutional Church of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church today,

that wrote an article for Adventist Today ~ which is a magazine from the liberal fringe of Adventism ~ where he says that the second Beast of Revelation chapter 13 is not the United States, that the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has become paranoid by its interpretation of that Beast as being the United States.

And that is only one example.

v   There are others that are trying to point our eyes to the fulfillment of prophecy in Islam over in the Middle East.

v   And there are people who are reinterpreting the location of the Trumpets,

they're saying the Trumpets are all future, and they're literal.

I mean there's almost like you wonder whether they ever really understood the governing principle of prophecy that is used by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. So let's go back to the material.

v   Some are offering Preterist ~

that is they're applying prophecies to the past ~ Preterist interpretations of prophecy.

v   And others are proposing Futurist interpretations of prophecies,

that the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has traditionally understood in a historical manner.

v   Others are making dual applications of prophecies,

and these are prophecies that have clearly been fulfilled already.

 

Nah, mari kita lanjutkan di bagian tengah hal. 21 ini.

Gereja MAHK hari ini mendapatkan dirinya berada di persimpangan hermeneutis. Kata “hermeneutis” berarti bagamana kita menerjemahkan Alkitab. Ada theolog-theolog di dalam gereja bahkan sekarang ini sedang mempertanyakaan kebenaran metode hermeneutis historisme, dan saya berikan sisipan di sini.

v   Ada seorang gembala dari sebuah gereja di institusi MAHK yang cukup besar hari ini

yang menulis sebuah artikel untuk majalah Adventist Today ~ yang adalah majalah dari kelompok liberal Adventisme ~ di mana dia mengatakan bahwa Binatang kedua Wahyu 13 bukanlah Amerika Serikat, bahwa gereja MAHK telah menjadi paranoid dengan interpretasinya bahwa Binatang itu adalah Amerika Serikat.

Dan ini baru satu contoh.

v   Ada yang lain yang berusaha mengarahkan mata kita ke penggenapan nubuatan ke Islam di Timur Tengah.

v   Dan ada orang-orang yang menginterpretasikan ulang lokasi Terompet-terompet (Wahyu 8),

mereka mengatakan bahwa Terompet-terompet ini semuanya masih di masa depan, dan itu adalah peristiwa-peristiwa literal.

Sungguh kita jadi bertanya-tanya, apakah mereka ini benar-benar mengerti prinsip yang menguasai nubuatan yang dipakai gereja MAHK.

Jadi mari kita kembali ke materi kita.

v   Ada yang menawarkan interpretasi Preterist ~

yaitu mereka mengaplikasikan nubuatan-nubuatan ke waktu lampau ~ interpretasi Preterist untuk nubuatan-nubuatan.

v   Dan yang lain mengusulkan interpretasi Futurist

untuk nubuatan-nubuatan, yang selama ini dipahami gereja MAHK menurut cara historisme.

v   Yang lain lagi menggunakan aplikasi ganda

untuk nubuatan-nubuatan, dan ini untuk nubuatan-nubuatan yang jelas-jelas sudah digenapi.

 

 

Is it any wonder that some of these same theologians in our church are committed to political correctness when it comes to the preaching about the Little Horn, the sea Beast, and the earth Beast with lamb-like horns? Is it any surprise that some of the scholars within God's remnant church are even encouraging the Seventh-Day Adventist Church to build bridges of understanding with Rome? And I can read you statements of scholars that teach in Seventh-Day Adventist institutions, that are saying this.

 

Apakah mengherankan beberapa dari theolog-theolog yang sama di dalam gereja kita berkomitmen untuk selalu tepat secara politis sehubungan dengan mengkhotbahkan tentang si Tanduk Kecil, Binatang yang muncul dari laut, dan Binatang yang muncul dari bumi dengan tanduk yang seperti domba? Now let me ask you, if God raises up a prophet at the end of time to restore the Law and to restore God's prophetic calendar, do you think the Devil is going to stay with his arms crossed, or is he going to try and counteract the correction? He's going to try and react. Now that's our next section. The book of Revelation informs us that Satan is not going to stay with his arms crossed while God's remnant Church restores the prophetic times and the Law.

Revelation 13:11-18 describes a future period when Protestants in the United States will do two things, continuing what the papacy did during the 1260 years. This Beast that will arise from the earth is going to do the same things that the Little Horn did during 1260 years:

1.   they will enforce the mark of the Beast, that is the change in the Law.

Is that what the Little Horn did during the 1260 years, changed the day of worship? Yeah.

So what is the United States going to do at the end of time? They're going to enforce the change, and eventually it will be on pain of death. This will be the future enforcement of the papacy’s change in the Law.

2.   they will become the Beasts’ false prophet, by teaching the papacy’s counterfeit prophetic scenario. That is the change in the times.

Is Protestantism doing that today? Which day of worship does Protestantism teach today? Sunday.

What is their method of interpreting prophecy? If you read my book Futurism’s Incredible Journey you're going to find that after the Protestant Reformation two Roman Catholic scholars say, “We have to counteract, we have to arrest the growth of Protestantism. We're losing entire countries to the papacy.”

 

Wahyu 13:11-18 menggambarkan suatu periode di masa depan ketika golongan Protestan di Amerika Serikat akan melakukan dua hal, dalam melanjutkan apa yang dilakukan Kepausan selama 1260 tahun di masa lampau. Binatang yang muncul dari bumi ini akan melakukan hal-hal yang sama yang dilakukan si Tanduk Kecil selama 1260 tahun:

1.   Mereka akan memberlakukan secara paksa tanda Binatang, inilah perubahan Hukumnya.

Inikah yang dilakukan Tanduk Kecil selama 1260 tahun, mengubah hari ibadah? Iya.

Maka apa yang akan dilakukan Amerika Serikat di akhir zaman? Mereka akan memberlakukan perubahan itu, dan akhirnya itu akan disertai ancaman hukuman mati. Ini merupakan pemberlakukan di masa depan dari perubahan Hukum  yang dibuat Kepausan.

2.   Mereka akan menjadi nabi palsunya si Binatang dengan mengajarkan skenario palsu Kepausan. Inilah perubahan dalam waktu-waktu nubuat.

Apakah Protestantisme melakukan itu sekarang ini? Hari ibadah mana yang diajarkan Protestantisme sekarang? Hari Minggu.

Apa metode mereka dalam menginterpretasikan nubuat? Jika kalian membaca buku saya Futurism’s Incredible Journey kalian akan tahu bahwa setelah Reformasi Protestan, dua orang pakar Alkitab Katolik berkata, “Kita harus menyerang balik. Kita harus menghentikan pertumbuhan Protestantisme. Kita kehilangan negara-negara untuk Kepausan.”

 

 

So a guy by the name of Luis del Alcazar, a Jesuit from Spain, wrote a commentary in Revelation. He said, “No, no, no! This Little Horn of Daniel 7 that was an individual called Antiochus Epiphanes, he lived in 165 BC. And the Beast, that was Nero, during the time of the Roman emperors.” By the way that is the Roman Catholic method of interpreting prophecy today. It's called Preterism. The mainline Protestant churches of the world today use that method to interpret prophecy. I went to several Protestant commentaries from the mainline churches: Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, etc. they’re Preterists. They believed that these prophecies of the Little Horn and the Beasts were fulfilled with Antiochus Epiphanes and they were fulfilled with the Roman emperors, Nero being the primary candidate.

Now if these prophecies were fulfilled with Antiochus Epiphanes and with Nero what relevance do they have in relationship to the Roman Catholic Church? None. So they're looking to the past for the fulfillment.

 

Maka seorang bernama Luis del Alcazar, seorang Jesuit dari Spanyol, menulis komentar tentang kitab Wahyu. Dia berkata, “Bukan, bukan, bukan! Tanduk Kecil Daniel 7 itu adalah seseorang yang bernama Antiochus Epiphanes, yang hidup di tahun 165 BC. Dan Binatang itu adalah Nero di zaman kekaisaran Roma.” Nah, itulah cara Roma Katolik menginterpretasikan nubuatan sekarang ini. Namanya Preterisme. Gereja-gereja Protestan aliran utama sekarang ini menggunakan metode itu untuk menginterpretasikan nubuatan. Saya mempelajari beberapa komentar Protestan gereja aliran utama: Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, dll. mereka Preterist. Mereka meyakini bahwa nubuatan-nubuatan tentang Tanduk Kecil dan Binatang-binatang itu sudah digenapi oleh Antiochus Epiphanes dan kaisar-kaisar Roma, Nero calon utamanya.

Nah, jika nubuatan-nubuatan ini digenapi oleh Antiochus Epiphanes dan Nero, apa relevansinya dengan gereja Roma Katolik? Tidak ada. Maka mereka memandang ke masa lampau untuk penggenapannya.

 

 

Most conservative Protestants today are Futurists and Futurism was established by a guy by the name of Francisco de Ribera, also a Jesuit from Spain, Roman Catholic, wrote a commentary where he tried to show that the Antichrist had not risen yet, the Antichrist is a nasty individual who will rise in the Middle East, he will rebuild a Jewish temple, he will rule there for three and a half years, he will persecute the Jews. Does that sound familiar? So if the Antichrist, the Little Horn and the Beast are future in Israel, after the rapture of the church, is there any relevance to the Roman Catholic papacy fulfilling prophecy? Not at all.

 

Kebanyakan Protestan konservatif sekarang adalah Futurist. Dan Futurisme diciptakan oleh seorang bernama Francisco de Ribera, juga seorang Jesuit dari Spanyol, Roma Katolik, yang menulis sebuah komentar di mana dia berusaha menunjukkan bahwa Antikristus belum bangkit, bahwa Antikristus adalah seseorang yang lalim yang masih akan muncul di Timur Tengah, dia akan membangun kembali Bait Suci Yahudi. Dia akan memerintah di sana selama 3½ tahun, dia akan mempersekusi bangsa Yahudi. Apakah ini terdengar familier? So what happened with the Roman Catholic Church? They simply, not only changed the Sabbath, but they changed the method of interpreting prophecy to hide who changed the Sabbath.

 

Jadi apa yang terjadi dengan gereja Roma Katolik? Mereka semata-mata bukan hanya mengubah Sabat tetapi mereka mengubah metode menginterpretasikan nubuatan untuk menyembunyikan siapa sesungguhnya yang telah mengubah Sabat.

 

 

Now let's continue here. For most conservative Protestants today, the United States is the good guy, and Islam is the deadly enemy. After 9/11 all eyes have turned to the terrorists in the Middle East. Is that true? The government, the media, and even many evangelical churches see militant Islam as the deadly enemy of the West. Many right-wing talk-show hosts consider any criticism of the policies of the United States as unpatriotic and unchristian. What an overwhelming surprise, folks, it will be when they finally discover that the United States by joining hands with the papacy will commit national apostasy that will lead to national ruin.

 

Sekarang mari kita lanjut. Bagi kebanyakan Protestan konservatif sekarang, Amerika Serikat adalah “tokoh baik”, dan Islam adalah musuh yang mematikan. Setelah 9/11 semua mata tertuju kepada teroris di Timur Tengah. Apakah itu benar? Pemerintah, media, bahkan banyak gereja evangelis memandang Islam militant sebagai musuh mematikan dunia Barat. Banyak program TV yang dipandu pembawa-pembawa acara sayap kanan menganggap kritik apa pun terhadap kebijakan Amerika Serikat sebagai tindakan tidak patriotik dan tidak kristiani. Betapa nanti mereka akan mendapat kejutan besar, Saudara-saudara, ketika akhirnya mereka menyadari bahwa Amerika Serikat dengan menggandeng tangan Kepausan akan melakukan kemurtadan nasional yang akan membawa kepada kehancuran nasional.

 

 

And Ellen White says that when the loud cries are proclaimed and the remnant church shows that Babylon the apostate religion, fallen, she says that people will with their mouth open ~ and I'm paraphrasing ~ they'll say, “We have never heard anything like this before,” and they will take their position on the side of the Lord. What a shock it will be when they realize that prophecy was being fulfilled right before their eyes in Rome and in the United States while they were looking for the enemy in the Middle East. Satan is a master at smoke screens and diversions. You know to use a football terminology that’s what they call the counter-play.

You know those of you who are into football know what I mean. It's when the blockers, you know, they all block right, and so the other team says, “Ah, the runners are coming this way,” and then the runner runs down the left side.

The Devil is an expert in smoke screens, counter-plays and diversions, he does not want the world to know the true issues in the final conflict, and therefore he has changed the meaning of Bible prophecy to hide who changed the Law. He has deceived the religious world into thinking that the Antichrist will be a nasty individual who will arise and sit in a rebuilt Jerusalem temple for three and a half literal years, after the church has been snatched away to Heaven.

 

Dan Ellen White berkata bahwa ketika seruan nyaring dikumandangkan, dan gereja umat yang sisa menunjukkan Babilon, agama murtad yang telah jatuh, dia mengatakan bahwa orang-orang akan dengan mulut menganga ~ dan saya memakai kata-kata saya sendiri ~ akan berkata, “Kami belum pernah mendengar yang seperti ini sebelumnya” dan mereka akan mengambil posisi di pihak Tuhan. Iblis adalah ahlinya membuat counter-play, tabir asap, dan pengalihan fokus, dia tidak mau dunia tahu isu-isu sesungguhnya di konflik yang terakhir, dan oleh karena itu dia mengubah makna nubuatan Alkitab untuk menyembunyikan siapa yang telah mengubah Hukum. Dia telah menipu dunia relijius untuk berpikir bahwa Antikristus adalah seorang manusia lalim yang akan muncul dan duduk di Bait Suci Yerusalem yang dibangun kembali selama 3½ tahun literal setelah gereja diangkat ke Surga.

 

 

What importance do Futurist preachers give to the book of Revelation? This is an important point. On the surface it might appear that they are very much interested in it, because they talk and write about it all the time. Aren't these evangelical preachers John Hagee and  Tim LaHaye and all these guys, aren't they always talking about what's going to happen in the Tribulation, the Rapture, and everything? Why would they be talking about this if the church is going to be raptured to Heaven before any of that happens? Are you with me?

 

Seberapa pentingnya kitab Wahyu bagi para pengkhotbah Futurist? Ini adalah poin yang penting. Di permukaan tampak seolah-olah mereka punya minat besar pada kitab Wahyu karena mereka bicara dan menulis tentangnya sepanjang waktu. Bukankah para pengkhotbah evangelis macam John Hagee dan Tim LaHaye dan yang lain-lain selalu bicara tentang apa yang akan terjadi di Masa Kesukaran Besar, di Pengangkatan Rahasia, dan semuanya itu? Now let's continue pursuing this. According to most ~ if not all ~ Futurists, when John was told by a voice from Heaven to come up hither, this was a reference to the rapture of the church. You know Revelation 4:1,  God says to John,  “¹ … ‘Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter’…” (KJV).   Futurists believe that the rest ~ this is important ~ that the rest of the book of Revelation from that point on, will be fulfilled with the literal Jews in the Middle East, after the church is gone from planet Earth.

Why is that so significant?

 

Nah, mari kita lanjut membahas ini. Menurut kebanyakan Futurist ~ kalaupun tidak semuanya ~ ketika Yohanes dipanggil suatu suara dari Surga untuk naik ke atas, itulah referensi mereka kepada pengangkatan gereja. Kalian tahu, Wahyu 4:1 Allah berkata kepada Yohanes, “¹…‘Naiklah kemari dan aku akan menunjukkan kepadamu apa yang harus terjadi sesudah ini.’…”  Futurist meyakini bahwa sisa ~ ini penting ~ bahwa sisa kitab Wahyu mulai titik itu seterusnya, akan digenapi oleh bangsa Yahudi literal di Timur Tengah, setelah gereja sudah lenyap dari planet Bumi.  

Mengapa ini begitu signifikan?

 

 

Listen, think about the implications of this. Seventh-Day Adventists have traditionally believed that the origin and destiny of our movement is clearly portrayed in the Little Book episode of Revelation 10. Remember? Eat it, it'll be sweet in your mouth and bitter in your stomach. We believe that applies to 1844 to the remnant Church. We also believe that our divinely appointed origin is portrayed in Revelation 12:17, which we've already studied; and that our distinctive message and mission to the world is found in Revelation 14:6-12.

But now listen. But if Revelation 4 through 22 applies only to the literal Jews during the future Tribulation after the church is in Heaven, then our divine origin, message, and mission are gone, we have no reason to exist. 

 

Dengarkan, pikirkan tentang implikasinya. MAHK turun-temurun meyakini bahwa asal usul dan takdir gerakan kami itu digambarkan dengan jelas di episode gulungan kitab kecil Wahyu 10. Ingat? How many churches in the world are preaching the Three Angels’ Messages? How many non-Adventist churches in the world are preaching the Three Angels’ Messages? None!

And one reason is, if Revelation 4 through chapter 20 applies to the future after the church is gone, Revelation 14 is irrelevant, it doesn't apply to us, because it applies to those who are left behind. The Devil is a sly individual, isn't he? He knows how to mute our message is by changing our method.

Furthermore ~ continuing here ~ furthermore according to the future scenario, the enemies of God's people will not even come on the scene until after the rapture, so why worry about them now? If we are going to be gone, why even bother to speak about the Beast’s image, and his mark, if that's after the rapture of the church? Why even bother with it? Why bother to call people out of Babylon, if that takes place after the rapture of the church? Focusing on literal Israel in the future in the Middle East hides the true identity of the Beast, and the false prophet, does it? People will be looking for these powers at the wrong time and in the wrong place.

And so the papacy and the United States will be fulfilling prophecy right before people's eyes, and they will not be able to see it, because they will be looking in the wrong place, at the wrong time, for the wrong Antichrist.

 

Berapa gereja di dunia yang mengkhotbahkan Pekabaran Tiga Malaikat? Berapa gereja non-MAHK di dunia yang mengkhotbahkan Pekabaran Tiga Malaikat? Tidak ada!

Dan salah satu alasannya ialah, jika Wahyu 4 hingga 22 diaplikasikan ke masa depan setelah gereja lenyap, maka Wahyu 14 tidak relevan lagi, itu tidak ada hubungannya dengan kita karena itu berlaku kepada mereka yang ditinggalkan di dunia. Iblis itu makhluk yang culas, kan? Dia tahu bagaimana caranya membungkam pekabaran kami dengan mengubah metode kami.

Lebih jauh ~ lanjut di sini ~ lebih jauh, menurut skenario masa depan, musuh-musuh umat Allah bahkan tidak akan muncul dalam adegan hingga setelah pengangkatan, jadi untuk apa mengkhawatirkan mereka sekarang? Jika pada waktu itu toh kita sudah tidak di sini, untuk apa repot-repot bicara tentang patung Binatang dan tandanya, jika itu terjadinya setelah pengangkatan gereja? Untuk apa bingung dengan itu? Untuk apa repot-repot memanggil orang keluar dari Babilon jika itu terjadi setelah pengangkatan gereja? Dengan fokus pada Israel literal di Timur Tengah di masa depan menyembunyikan identitas asli Binatang itu dan nabi-nabi palsu, bukan?  Orang-orang akan mencari kekuasaan-kekuasaan ini pada waktu yang salah dan di tempat yang salah.

Maka Kepausan dan Amerika Serikat akan menggenapi nubuatan di depan mata, dan mereka tidak akan melihatnya karena mereka memandang ke tempat yang salah, ke waktu yang salah, mencari Antikristus yang salah.

 

 

The very message, mission, and identity of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church depend on our method of interpreting Revelation, and I would say Daniel also.

Ø   If the fulfillment of Revelation 10 is yet future ~ like some in our own church are suggesting ~

then it has nothing to do with the origin and mission of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Ø   If the fulfillment of Revelation 12:17 is still in the future,

then it has nothing to do with the origin and identification of the remnant church that arose shortly after 1844.

I firmly believe that God called Ellen White to set the record straight when it comes to end-time events.

The book Great Controversy is a vital book for this day and age. It is the best commentary ever written on the book of Revelation. People say, what book do you recommend to understand Revelation? Great Controversy. No, don't misunderstand me. Everything is not on the surface in The Great Controversy. Ellen White comments on many things, and she never quotes the verses. And one thing that we want to do in this class later on, is we're going to find out how to detect what Ellen White has to say about something, when she doesn't quote the verses that refer to that. See, we have to do some detective work.

And like Daniel 11, some people say Ellen White doesn't say anything about Daniel 11:40-45 because she never quotes the verses, she never even uses the language anywhere in her writing. So she had nothing to say. Oh yeah? She had a lot to say, she just doesn't use the terminology. So you have to study the structure, you have to do a little detective work to find out where she's commenting on things, even though she doesn't use the specific verses.

 

Pekabaran, misi, dan identitas gereja MAHK tergantung pada metode kita menginterpretasikan kitab Wahyu, dan saya ingin menambahkan kitab Daniel juga.

Ø   Jika penggenapan Wahyu 10 masih di masa depan ~ seperti pendapat beberapa orang di gereja kami sendiri ~

maka itu tidak ada kaitannya dengan asal usul dan misi gereja MAHK.

Ø   Jika penggenapan Wahyu 12:17 masih di masa depan,

maka itu tidak ada hubungannya dengan  asal usul dan identifikasi gereja umat sisa yang bangkit tidak lama setelah 1844.

Saya benar-benar yakin Allah memanggil Ellen White untuk mengoreksi yang salah sehubungan dengan peristiwa-peristiwa akhir zaman.

Buku The Great Controversy adalah buku yang sangat penting untuk masa ini. Itu adalah komentar untuk kitab Wahyu yang paling bagus yang pernah ditulis. Orang bertanya, buku mana yang Anda rekomendasikan untuk memahami kitab Wahyu? Great Controversy. Nah, jangan salah paham. Di Great Controversy tidak semuanya terpapar di permukaannya. Ellen White mengomentari banyak hal, dan dia tidak mengutip ayat-ayatnya. Ellen White once warned one of our school teachers about the dangers of his Futurist and Preterist views, concerning the prophecies that have made us what we are as a people. Ellen White was aware of Preterism and Futurism and she warned against it. Here is one quotation from two long letters that she wrote to John Bell, who was a schoolteacher. This is what she stated, “We have a sleepless adversary, and he is constantly at work upon human minds that have not had a personal experience in the teachings of the people of God for the past fifty years…”  Now listen to this, “…Some will take the truth applicable to their time, and  place it in the future. Events in the  train of prophecy…”  see, what is prophecy? It's a train.  See, that's historicism, the historical method. She says,  “…Events in the  train of prophecy that had their fulfillment away in the past are made…” what?  “…future, and thus by these theories the faith of some is undermined.” (MR 1236 Testimonies Concerning the Views of Prophecy held by John Bell, part 1, pg. 2.4)

 

Ellen White pernah mengingatkan salah seorang guru sekolah kami tentang bahaya pandangan Futurist dan Preteristnya mengenai nubuatan-nubuatan yang telah menjadikan kami sebagai umat. Ellen White tahu tentang Preterisme dan Futurisme dan dia mengingatkan terhadap keduanya. Ini salah satu kutipan dari dua surat panjang yang ditulisnya kepada John Bell, seorang guru. Inilah yang dikatakan Ellen White, “…Kita memiliki musuh yang tidak pernah tidur, dan dia terus-menerus bekerja pada otak manusia yang tidak memiliki pengalaman pribadi dalam ajaran-ajaran umat Allah selama 50 tahun terakhir…”  Sekarang dengarkan ini.   “…Beberapa orang akan mengambil kebenaran  yang diaplikasikan ke zaman mereka dan menempatkannya di masa depan. Peristiwa-peristiwa dalam rangkaian nubuatan…”  lihat, nubuatan itu apa? Itu sebuah rangkaian. Lihat, itulah historisisme, metode historis. Ellen White berkata, “…Peristiwa-peristiwa dalam rangkaian nubuatan yang penggenapannya sudah lewat di masa lampau dijadikan…”  apa?    “…masa depan. Dan dengan demikian, melalui teori-teori ini, ada yang imannya dilemahkan.” (MR 1236 Testimonies Concerning the Views of Prophecy held by John Bell, part 1, hal. 2.4)

 

 

Are you understanding the importance of the Spirit of Prophecy in these last days, when it comes to interpreting Bible prophecy? Ellen White was not only raised up to restore the Commandments of God, to say, you know, God's people will be Law-keepers because they love the Lord, they're going to keep the Sabbath in honor of the Creator. God not only raised her up for that. God raised her up to provide a clear picture of the entire end-time scenario, as it is taking place, and as it will take place. Because if you don't understand that, you're going to end up on the wrong side.

 

Apakah kalian paham pentingnya Roh Nubuat di hari-hari akhir sekarang sehubungan dengan menginterpretasikan nubuatan Alkitab? Ellen White bukan hanya dibangkitkan untuk memulihkan Perintah-perintah Allah, untuk mengatakan umat Allah akan menjadi pemelihara Hukum karena mereka mengasihi Tuhan, mereka akan memelihara Sabat sebagai penghormatan kepada Sang Pencipta. Allah tidak hanya membangkitkan Ellen White untuk itu. Allah membangkitkannya untuk memberikan gambaran yang jelas tentang seluruh skenario akhir zaman, sementara itu sedang terjadi, dan sebagaimana itu akan terjadi. Karena jika kita tidak memahami itu, kita akan berakhir di pihak yang salah.

 

 

Now let's go to the next section. The historical sequence of Revelation 13.

Let's review Daniel 7. I like to review a lot. My wife says, “You repeat, and repeat.” And I say to my wife, “How do you suppose that a parrot learns to talk?” By repeating, right? So it's by repetition that we learn. You know, the more we repeat, the more it is recorded in our memory, because we are impacted by our words, believe it or not. And so let's review Daniel 7.

Ø  Lion

Ø  Bear

Ø  Leopard

Ø  fourth Beast

o   for a while by itself

o   10 horns, that kingdom is divided

o   Little Horn 1260 years.

It must lose its dominion at the end of the 1260 years, because if it didn't, then it ruled longer than 1260. If it lost it before the 1260, then it didn't rule 1260. So it loses its power at the end, and then you don't have much after that. You know that this power is going to be ruling at the end because it will be destroyed by Christ.  So we know it must recover its power at some point after the 1260 years, but it's not real clear there in Daniel 7.

 

Sekarang mari kita ke bagian berikutnya. Urut-urutan historis Wahyu 13.

Mari kita ulangi Daniel 7. Saya suka mengulang-ulang. Istri saya berkata, “Kamu mengulangi, dan mengulangi.” Dan saya berkata kepada istri saya, “Menurut kamu bagaimana burung beo belajar bicara?” Dengan mengulang-ulang, kan? Jadi dengan mengulang-ulang itu kita belajar. Semakin banyak kita ulang, semakin itu terekam dalam ingatan kita karena percaya atau tidak, kita terpengaruh oleh kata-kata kita.

Jadi mari kita ulangi Daniel 7.

o   Selama waktu tertentu berkuasa sendiri

o   10 tanduk, kerajaannya terbagi

o   Tanduk Kecil selama 1260 tahun

Tentunya pada akhir 1260 tahun ini dia kehilangan kekuasaannya, karena seandainya tidak, tentunya dia berkuasa lebih lama daripada 1260 tahun. Andai dia kehilangan kekuasaannya sebelum masa 1260 tahun, maka tidak dikatakan dia berkuasa selama 1260 tahun. Jadi dia kehilangan kekuasaannya pada akhir 1260 tahun, dan setelah itu tidak banyak yang kita dapat lagi. Kita hanya tahu bahwa kekuasaan ini akan berkuasa di akhir zaman karena dia akan dimusnahkan oleh Kristus (saat kedatanganNya yang kedua). Maka kita tahu tentunya suatu saat setelah periode 1260 tahun itu dia mendapatkan kekuasaannya kembali, tetapi ini tidak jelas terlihat di Daniel 7.

 

 

Revelation 12 begins in the Old Testament.

The woman has the male Child in her womb. 

Ø  Babylon

Ø  Medo-Persia

Ø  and Greece,

Old Testament period.

Ø  then you have the dragon Beast.

o   That's the same as the fourth Beast of Daniel 7.

o   The dragon Beast has how many horns? Has ten horns.

o   And then we find that the dragon Beast with ten horns persecutes whom? The woman.

For how long? “Time, times, and the dividing of time” the 1260 years.

Ø   But Revelation 12 takes us a step further,

because it tells us, that the earth helped the woman, by providing refuge.

Ø   And then it speaks about a final persecution that will come against God's people,

against those who keep the Commandments of God and has the Testimony of Jesus Christ.

So Revelation chapter 12 takes you beyond what Daniel 7 explicitly says, because it speaks about the earth helping the woman towards the end of the 1260 years, and then it speaks about a final persecution by the dragon against God's people. It's the same dragon that persecuted during the 1260 years, right? So is the dragon  which persecuted the woman ~  Satan through the papacy ~ is that going to have a resurrection and also persecute at the end? Absolutely!

Ø  lalu binatang Naga

o   Ini sama dengan binatang keempat Daniel 7.

o   Lalu binatang naga ini punya berapa tanduk? 10 tanduk.

o   Kemudian kita lihat binatang naga dengan 10 tanduk ini mempersekusi siapa? Perempuan itu.

Berapa lama? “satu masa, masa-masa, dan setengah masa” periode 1260 tahun.

Ø   Tetapi Wahyu 12 membawa kita lebih jauh selangkah,

karena dia mengatakan Bumi menolong perempuan itu dengan memberinya tempat perlindungan.

Ø   Kemudian ada persekusi akhir yang akan mengenai umat Allah,

kepada mereka yang memelihara Perintah-perintah Allah, dan memiliki Kesaksian Yesus Kristus.

Maka Wahyu pasal 12 membawa kita melampaui apa yang dikatakan secara terperinci di Daniel 7, karena Wahyu 12 bicara tentang Bumi menolong perempuan itu menjelang akhir periode 1260 tahun, kemudian dia bicara tentang persekusi terakhir oleh naga itu terhadap umat Allah. Itu adalah naga yang sama yang mempersekusi selama periode 1260 tahun, benar? Jadi naga yang mempersekusi perempuan itu ~ Setan melalui Kepausan ~ apakah dia akan mengalami kebangkitan dan mempersekusi lagi di akhir zaman? Tepat sekali!

 

 

Now with that in mind we go to Revelation 13.

Revelation 13 also helps us understand the time when God will restore the gift of prophecy to the church. In fact Revelation 13 follows the same basic historical sequence as Daniel 7 and Revelation 12. I want you to see the parallel. Revelation 13 is going to follow the same order as Revelation 12 and as Daniel 7.

 

Dengan mengingat ini, kita ke Wahyu 13.

Wahyu 13 juga membantu kita mengerti waktu ketika Allah akan memulihkan karunia nubuat kepada gereja. Bahkan Wahyu 13 mengikuti urutan historis dasar yang sama dengan Daniel 7 dan Wahyu 12. Saya mau kalian melihat paralelnya. Wahyu 13 akan mengikuti urutan yang sama seperti Wahyu 12 dan Daniel 7.

 

 

Notice the sequence of Revelation 13.

Revelation 13:2 mentions the first three beasts of Daniel 7, it says, “ ² Now the Beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion…”  is that the Old Testament period? Yes! Is that the same as Daniel 7? Is that the same as the period when the woman is crying out for the Deliverer? That’s the same period. But now we have a fourth Beast.

Notice Revelation 12:3 it says, “…³ And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and…” what?  “…ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.” So is there a fourth Beast? Yes! What Beast is this? It is Rome. So you have a dragon Beast doesn't have ten horns. Yes, according to what we studied the ten horns come out afterwards, Daniel 7 makes that clear, right? So you have to superimpose one prophecy on the other,  you have to compare one with the other, just like you have to compare one gospel with another.

You know, you look at the inscription above the cross. You know, one evangelist says, “Jesus the King of the Jews”, one of them has “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews”. So if you want to know what the complete inscription had, you have to go from one evangelist to the other. You do the same in prophecy.

You have to go from Daniel 7, to Revelation 12, to Revelation 13. You have to complement all of these prophecies, that follow the same sequence. Are you following me or not?

 

Simak urutan Wahyu 13.

Wahyu 13:2 menyebut tiga binatang pertama Daniel 7, dikatakan, “² Nah, binatang yang kulihat itu serupa dengan macan tutul, dan kakinya seperti kaki beruang dan mulutnya seperti mulut singa…”  apakah ini zaman Perjanjian Lama? Ya! Apakah ini sama dengan Daniel 7? Apakah ini periode yang sama ketika perempuan itu berteriak memanggil Sang  Penyelamat? Periode yang sama. Tetapi sekarang ada Binatang keempat.

Simak Wahyu 12:3 berkata, “…³ Maka tampaklah suatu tanda yang lain di langit; dan lihatlah, seekor naga merah padam yang besar, berkepala tujuh dan…” apa?  “…bertanduk sepuluh, dan di atas kepalanya ada tujuh mahkota…”  Nah, apakah ada binatang keempat? Ya! Binatang ini mewakili siapa? Roma. Jadi ada binatang naga yang tidak punya 10 tanduk. Ya, menurut apa yang sudah kita pelajari, ke-10 tanduk itu muncul belakangan, Daniel 7 membuat itu jelas, kan? Jadi kita harus menumpangkan satu nubuatan di atas yang lain, kita harus membandingkan yang satu dengan yang lain, sama seperti kita harus membandingkan satu injil dengan yang lain. 

Bila kalian melihat tulisan di atas salib, satu penginjil mengatakan, “Yesus, Raja orang Yahudi” (Mat. 27:37, Mar. 15:26); yang lain menulis “Yesus dari Nazaret, Raja orang Yahudi”(Yoh. 19:19). Jadi jika kita mau tahu apa tulisannya yang lengkap kita harus menyimak dari satu penginjil ke penginjil yang lain. Kita berbuat yang sama dengan nubuatan.

Kita harus pergi dari Daniel 7, ke Wahyu 12, ke Wahyu 13. Kita harus membuat semua nubuatan yang mengikuti urutan yang sama, menjadi lengkap. Apakah kalian paham atau tidak?

 

 

Now, so you have this fourth Beast, this dragon Beast, after the first three. It has ten horns, but then it's going to do something.

Notice Revelation 13:2, Now this dragon Beast is going to give his throne and his power and his authority to the Beast from the sea. It says,“  ² Now the Beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion…” and now notice the dragon, this is the fourth Beast, right? With the ten horns.  “…The dragon gave him (the Beast)…” his what?  “…his power, his throne, and great authority...” 

 

Nah, sekarang ada Binatang keempat ini, binatang naga ini, setelah tiga yang sebelumnya. Naga ini punya 10 tanduk, tetapi dia akan berbuat sesuatu.

Simak Wahyu 13:2, sekarang binatang naga ini akan memberikan takhtanya dan kekuatannya dan kuasanya kepada Binatang yang keluar dari laut. Dikatakan, “² Nah, binatang yang kulihat itu serupa dengan macan tutul, dan kakinya seperti kaki beruang dan mulutnya seperti mulut singa…”  dan sekarang simak. Naga itu, ini adalah binatang keempat, kan? Yang punya 10 tanduk,    “…Dan naga itu memberikan kepadanya [kepada Binatang yang keluar dari laut]…” apanya? “…kekuatannya, dan takhtanya dan kekuasaannya yang besar.”

 

 

So what is the next power on the scene after the dragon Beast that has ten horns? It is another Beast that receives its power from the dragon. And how long does that Beast rule? Well, let's notice Revelation 13:5 and 7, is this power the same as the Little Horn? Is the Beast the same as the Little Horn? Yeah it's in the same identical spot in the sequence, and it does the same thing.

Notice verse 5, “⁵ And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies…” did the Little Horn do that? Yes,  “…and he was given authority to continue…” how long?   “…for forty-two months….” Same time period. I won't go into how 42 months is equal to “time, times, and a dividing of time” and 1260 days, you already know that. Notice verse 7,  “… ⁷ It was granted to him to make war with the saints…” is that what the Little Horn did? Yes,  “…and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.”

So are we following the same sequence? After the dragon with ten horns, do you have the Beast that rules the same time period: forty-two months? Yeah, it's following the same order Revelation 13.

 

Jadi kekuasaan apa yang berikutnya muncul setelah binatang naga yang punya 10 tanduk? Binatang yang lain yang menerima kekuatannya dari naga itu. Dan berapa lama Binatang ini berkuasa? Nah, mari simak Wahyu 13:5 dan 7, apakah kekuasaan ini sama dengan Tanduk Kecil? Apakah Binatang ini sama dengan Tanduk Kecil? Iya! Dia ada di tempat yang sama dalam urut-urutan sejarah dan dia melakukan hal yang sama.

Simak ayat 5, “ ⁵ Dan kepada Binatang itu diberikan mulut, yang berbicara kata-kata sombong dan kata-kata hujat…” apakah Tanduk Kecil berbuat begitu? Ya. “…dan kepadanya diberikan  kuasa untuk terus berlanjut…”  berapa lama?   “…selama empat puluh dua bulan lamanya…”  periode waktu yang sama. Saya tidak akan membahas bagaimana 42 bulan itu sama dengan “satu masa, masa-masa, dan setengah masa” dan 1260 hari, kalian sudah tahu itu. Simak ayat 7, “…⁷ Dan ia diperkenankan untuk berperang melawan orang-orang kudus…”  itukah yang dilakukan si Tanduk Kecil? Ya!   “…dan untuk mengalahkan mereka. Dan autoritas diberikan kepadanya atas setiap suku, bahasa, dan bangsa…”

Jadi apakah kita mengkuti urut-urutan yang sama? Setelah naga yang punya 10 tanduk, apakah ada Binatang yang berkuasa di periode waktu yang sama: 42 bulan? Ya, itu mengikuti urut-urutan yang, Wahyu 13.

 

 

But what happens at the end of its period of dominion the 42 months? Something happens. Notice Revelation 13:10, “ ¹⁰ He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity…”  who was it that led into captivity? The papacy, the Beast. How long did it lead into captivity? 1260 years. “…he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword…” who killed with the sword? The papacy. So the same sword that the papacy used to kill, was the sword that was going to give it its deadly wound. Are you with me? Somebody might say, “Well, but it doesn't say there that the Beast, it says ‘he, whoever kills’, ‘whoever leads into captivity’,  doesn't say it's the Beast.” Well, we know from verse 14 that it is the Beast.    

 

Tetapi apa yang terjadi di akhir periode kekuasaannya yang 42 bulan? Sesuatu terjadi. Simak Wahyu 13:10, “¹⁰ Dia yang membawa orang masuk penawanan, dia sendiri akan masuk ke dalam penawanan…”  siapa yang membawa orang masuk penawanan? Kepausan, Binatang itu. Berapa lama dia membawa orang masuk penawanan? 1260 tahun. “…dia yang membunuh dengan pedang, ia harus dibunuh dengan pedang…”  siapa yang membunuh dengan pedang? Kepausan. Maka pedang yang sama yang dipakai Kepausan untuk membunuh, adalah pedang yang akan memberinya (memberi Kepausan) luka yang mematikan. Apakah kalian paham? Mungkin ada yang akan berkata, “Tapi di sini tidak dikatakan Binatang itu, di sini dikatakan, ‘dia yang membunuh’, ‘dia yang membawa orang masuk penawanan’, tidak dikatakan dia itu si Binatang.” Nah, kita tahu dari ayat 14 bahwa itu adalah si Binatang.  

 

 

Notice verse 14 speaking about this Beast from the earth,“ ¹⁴ And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the Beast…” that is the second Beast, that does this, in honor of the first Beast,  “…telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the Beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.”

So who is that, that lead into captivity and wounded with the sword? The Beast, the Beast that ruled how long? 42 months.

 

Simak ayat 14 yang bicara tentang Binatang yang muncul dari Bumi, “¹⁴ Ia menyesatkan mereka yang diam di bumi dengan tanda-tanda, yang telah diizinkan untuk dilakukannya di depan mata Binatang itu,…”  ini bicara tentang Binatang kedua yang melakukan ini sebagai penghormatan kepada Binatang pertama,   “…menyuruh mereka yang diam di bumi, supaya mereka mendirikan patung Binatang itu  yang telah terluka oleh pedang, namun hidup.”

Jadi siapakah itu yang membawa kepada penawanan dan terluka oleh pedang? Binatang itu, Binatang yang berkuasa berapa lama? 42 bulan.

                                                                                

 

Now the question is what is the sword that gave the wound to the Beast? See, the Beast used the sword to kill God's people, so the same sword that the Beast used to kill God's people, is the sword that is going to give the deadly wound to the Beast. So the question is what is the sword? Many times people answer, “the Word of God,” because Ephesians  says that the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God,  but in the Bible symbols are flexible, they don't always mean the same thing. You have to take into account the context.

For example if I mention a “lion”, what does a lion represent symbolically? Can it represent Jesus? Can it represent the Devil ~ he goes as a roaring lion. Can it represent Babylon? Can it represent Judah, the son of Jacob? Yeah. So just because you find “lion” doesn't always mean the same thing.

“Leaven” represents sin, but it also in the parable that Jesus gave of leaven, it represents the Holy Spirit, that's placed in the church and causes the church to grow.

So just because you have “sword” here and one text in the Bible says that “the sword” is the Bible,  it can't be the Bible here, because the papacy did not use the Bible to kill people, are you following me or not? The sword that the papacy used to kill, is a sword that would give it the deadly wound. The papacy did not use the Bible to kill anyone. So you have to go to another text that tells you what the sword means in other contexts. And in Romans 13:1-4 you have this explanation. “¹ Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God…” what does this mean when it says, the “governing authorities”? What is that referring to? The civil power to the state. Verse 2,  “…² Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. ³ For rulers…” there it's clear  “…are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority?...” in other words, do you want to not fear the government?  “…Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. ⁴ For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear…” what?  “…the sword in vain…”  So who bears the sword? The civil power.

 

Nah, pertanyaannya ialah, pedang itu apa yang mengakibatkan luka pada Binatang itu? Lihat, Binatang itu menggunakan pedang untuk membunuh umat Allah, maka pedang yang sama yang dipakai Binatang itu untuk membunuh umat Allah, itulah pedang yang akan dipakai untuk memberikan luka yang mematikan kepada Binatang itu. Jadi pertanyaannya ialah pedang itu apa? Seringkali orang menjawab, “Firman Allah”, karena di Efesus 6:17 dikatakan bahwa pedang Roh adalah Firman Allah, tetapi di Alkitab simbol-simbol itu fleksibel, mereka tidak selalu punya arti yang sama. Kita harus mempertimbangkan konteksnya.

Misalnya, jika saya menyebut “singa”, singa itu mewakili apa secara simbolis? Bisakah itu mewakili Yesus? Bisakah itu mewakili Iblis ~ dia berkeliaran sebagai singa yang mengaum (1 Pet. 5:8)? Bisakah itu mewakili Babilon? Bisakah itu mewakili Yehuda anak Yakub? Iya. Jadi karena kita bertemu “singa” tidak selalu berarti hal yang sama.

“Ragi” mewakili dosa, tetapi di perumpamaan yang diberikan Yesus tentang ragi, itu melambangkan Roh Kudus, yang ditempatkan di dalam gereja yang membuat gereja bertumbuh.

Maka hanya karena kita melihat “pedang” di sini dan satu ayat di Alkitab mengatakan “pedang” itu Firman Allah, di sini “pedang” tidak mungkin Firman Allah karena Kepausan tidak menggunakan Firman Allah untuk membunuh orang. Kalian paham tidak? Pedang yang dipakai Kepausan untuk membunuh adalah pedang yang akan memberikan Kepausan luka yang mematikan. Kepausan tidak memakai Alkitab untuk membunuh siapa pun. Jadi kita harus ke ayat yang lain yang mengatakan apa makna “pedang” di konteks yang lain. Dan di Roma 13:1-4 ada penjelasan ini. “¹ Hendaknya tiap orang takluk kepada  pemerintah yang berwewenang, sebab tidak ada pemerintah kecuali dari Allah; dan pemerintah-pemerintah yang ada, ditetapkan oleh Allah…”  apa maksudnya “pemerintah yang berwewenang”? Ini mengacu kepada apa? Kekuasan sipil negara. Ayat 2, “…² Sebab itu barangsiapa melawan pemerintah, ia melawan ketetapan Allah dan mereka yang melakukannya, akan mendatangkan hukuman atas diri mereka senndiri. ³ Karena penguasa…”  di sini jelas,  “…tidaklah menakutkan bagi perbuatan yang baik, melainkan bagi yang jahat. Maukah kamu tidak takut kepada pemerintah? …”  dengan kata lain, apakah kamu mau tidak takut kepada Pemerintah?   “…Perbuatlah apa yang baik dan kamu akan beroleh pujian darinya. ⁴ Karena dia adalah pelayan Allah untuk kebaikanmu. Tetapi jika engkau berbuat jahat, takutlah, karena dia tidak menyandang…” apa? “…pedang dengan percuma,…” Jadi siapa yang menyandang pedang? Kekuatan sipil.

 

 

What does that mean that the civil power bears the sword? Does the civil power have the right to punish someone who kills somebody? Does it have a right to punish someone who steals somebody else's property? Does it have a right to sentence children who abuse their parents? Yes! How about somebody who ruins somebody else's reputation by lies, false witness? Yes! The civil power has been established to preserve the civil order, and it has the sword which means that if somebody violates the civil order, it can use the sword to punish individuals who violate civil Law. The problem is, the papacy used the sword not to punish violations of civil Law, but to punish violations of the first table of the Law. And what was it that the papacy used? The papacy used the power of the governments of Europe to kill those who are not in harmony with the church. Do you know how it worked?

 

Apa artinya kekuatan sipil yang menyandang pedang? Apakah kekuatan sipil punya hak untuk menghukum seseorang yang telah membunuh orang? Apakah dia punya hak untuk menghukum seseorang yang mencuri harta orang lain? Apakah dia punya hak untuk menghukum anak-anak yang menyiksa orangtua mereka? Ya! Bagaimana dengan seseorang yang merusak reputasi orang dengan kebohongan, saksi dusta? Ya! Kekuatan sipil ditetapkan untuk mempertahankan ketertiban sipil, dan dia punya pedang, artinya jika ada orang yang melanggar ketertiban sipil, dia bisa menggunakan pedang itu untuk menghukum individu-individu yang melanggar hukum sipil. Masalahnya, Kepausan menggunakan pedang itu tidak untuk menghukum pelanggar hukum sipil, melainkan untuk menghukum pelanggaran loh batu Hukum yang pertama. Dan apa yang digunakan Kepausan? Kepausan menggunakan kekuasaan pemerintah-pemerintah di Eropa untuk membunuh mereka yang tidak selaras dengan gereja. Tahukah kalian bagaimana cara kerjanya?

 

 

First of all there was a church trial, there was an inquisition, a church trial, where you had the priests and you had Cardinals and everything to examine the so-called heretic. And after the church trial usually they would determine that the person was guilty of heresy. But the church didn't take people and kill him; what they would do is, they would say to the Emperor as in the case of John Huss, they would say, “Hey, the church found this guy guilty of heresy, you’ve got to kill him!” And so the papacy used the power of the state, used the civil power to persecute those who were not in harmony with its teachings and its practices.  It joined church and state, and this is the subject for next year's Anchor. We are going to study all these prophecies.  They're fascinating, there's so much that we haven't seen as Adventist in these prophecies, because we have the tendency simply to repeat and repeat and repeat what has been written, and what people have said, and we don't go to the text and study it for ourselves. There's so much more there than meets the eye. And by the way I'm a good solid Adventist. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to interpretation of prophecy, but there's so many details that confirm and strengthen our view as Seventh-Day Adventist, our view of Bible prophecy. It's amazing. And so we find  in this particular case, in Revelation chapter 13 the same sequence that we found in Daniel 7, and that we found in Revelation chapter 12.

 

Pertama, gereja akan mengadili, akan ada inkuisisi (penyidikan), pengadilan gereja, di mana para imam, kardinal, dan mereka semuanya memeriksa orang yang dituduh bidat. Now, let's go back to our material.

You understand what “the sword” means? By the way what was the power that gave the papacy its deadly wound?  France. It was the civil power of France. Did France take away the sword? France said, “Listen, you've been using us to persecute people, now you're going to get a little persecuting yourself.” The sword of France, the state, rose against the papacy and gave the papacy its deadly wound. The sword that the papacy had used is a sword that gave the papacy its deadly wound. Was that the end of the story? No!

 

Nah, mari kita kembali ke materi kita.

Kalian sudah paham “pedang” itu berarti apa? Nah, kekuasaan mana yang memberikan luka yang mematikan kepada Kepausan? Perancis. Kekuatan sipil Perancis. Apakah Perancis menyingkirkan pedangnya? Perancis berkata, “Dengar, kamu sudah memperalat kami untuk mempersekusi orang-orang, sekarang kamu sendiri akan merasakan sedikit persekusi.” Pedang Perancis, negara itu, bangkit melawan Kepausan dan memberikan luka yang mematikan kepada Kepausan. Pedang yang dipakai Kepausan adalah pedang yang memberikan luka yang mematikan kepada Kepausan. Apakah itu akhir ceritanya? Tidak!

 

 

Revelation 13:11. At the time that the papacy receives its deadly wound, another Beast rises from the earth. What does the earth represent?  We encountered the earth in Revelation 12, didn't we? The earth represents the territory of the United States that provided refuge for the persecuted ones in the old world. But now we have a Beast that rises from the earth, a Beast rises in that territory, are you understanding me? What does a Beast represent? A nation or a kingdom. Now in that territory that provided refuge for the woman, now a nation is going to arise in that territory. It's following the same sequence. Are you with me? And that nation is going to have two horns like a lamb, but it is going to speak like a dragon. Which dragon? Listen carefully, folks. There's one point that we've missed as Adventist. The dragon in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation always represents Satan working through Rome.

ü   What was the power that tried to destroy Christ when Christ was born?

Satan working through Rome, Herod.

ü   What was the power that tried to destroy God's people during the 1260 years?

The Little Horn was the papacy, but who was behind it? The dragon persecuted the woman. It was the Devil working through Rome.

So my question is, if this Beast from the earth speaks like a dragon, he's speaking like Rome. You didn't get that. You guys say Rome tried to kill the Child, and Rome persecuted the church; and then you have the same dragon, you say well that dragon you know it represents China because they use a dragon. No! You have to respect context. And so if it speaks like a dragon, it’s speaking like Satan, through the instrumentality of Rome. And by the way, that can be proved beyond a shadow of any doubt.

 

Wahyu 13:11. Pada waktu Kepausan menerima lukanya yang mematikan, ada Binatang lain yang muncul dari bumi. Bumi melambangkan apa? Kita sudah bertemu dengan “bumi” di Wahyu 12, bukan? “Bumi” melambangkan teritori Amerika Serikat yang memberikan tempat perlindungan bagi mereka yang dipersekusi di dunia lama (Eropa). Tetapi sekarang ada satu Binatang yang muncul dari bumi, satu Binatang yang muncul di teritori itu. Apakah kalian paham? Binatang melambangkan apa? Suatu bangsa atau suatu kerajaan. Nah, di teritori yang memberikan tempat perlindungan bagi perempuan itu, suatu bangsa akan bangkit di sana. Ini mengikuti urutan yang sama. Apakah kalian paham? Dan bangsa itu akan memiliki dua tanduk seperti domba, tetapi dia akan bicara seperti naga. Naga yang mana? Dengarkan baik-baik, Saudara-saudara. Ada satu poin yang kita lewatkan sebagai orang-orang Advent. Naga dalam nubuatan-nubuatan Daniel dan Wahyu itu selalu mewakili Setan yang bekerja melalui Roma.

ü   Apakah kekuasaan yang berusaha membunuh Kristus ketika Kristus lahir?

Setan yang bekerja melalui Roma, Herodes.

ü   Apakah kekuasaan yang berusaha memusnahkan umat Allah selama periode 1260 tahun?

Tanduk Kecil adalah Kepausan, tapi siapa yang ada di belakangnya? Naga itu yang mempersekusi perempuan itu. Itulah Iblis yang bekerja melalui Roma.

Jadi pertanyaan saya ialah, jika Binatang yang muncul dari bumi ini bicara seperti naga, dia bicara seperti Roma. Kita tidak menangkap itu. Kita berkata Roma yang berusaha membunuh Anak itu, dan Roma mempersekusi gereja; lalu ada naga yang sama, dan kita mengatakan nah, naga itu mewakili Cina karena mereka memakai lambang naga. Tidak! At the bottom of page 25, listen carefully, every Beast that we find in Daniel 7 fights against the previous Beast to take away its power.

ü  The bear annihilates the lion,

ü  the leopard annihilates the bear,

ü  and the dragon takes care of the leopard.

But in this case, this Beast from the earth instead of fighting against the Beast that existed before, it helps it recover its power. Are you with me?

You say how do you know that?

The bottom of the page. This Beast speaks like a dragon. And the dragon represents Satan working through Rome. We're told that it exercises all of the authority of the first Beast. So by whose authority does this Beast from the earth function? It exercises all of the authority of the first Beast which represents the papacy. It commands everyone to worship the first Beast. It makes an image of the first Beast. It imposes the mark of the first Beast. Are you with me?

Basically what this is saying is that the United States is going to be the instrument that Satan is going to use to restore the power of the papacy. So the deadly wound was not healed ini 1929, because it's not Italy that would heal the deadly wound, it is the United States that will return the sword of civil power to the papacy. Are you with me?

 

Di bagian bawah hal. 25, dengarkan baik-baik, setiap binatang yang kita lihat di Daniel 7 memerangi binatang sebelumnya untuk merampas kekuasaannya:

ü  Beruang melenyapkan singa.

ü  Macan tutul melenyapkan beruang.

ü  Dan naga melenyapkan macan tutul.

Tetapi di kasus ini, Binatang yang muncul dari bumi, bukannya berperang melawan Binatang yang sudah ada sebelumnya, dia malah membantunya mendapatkan kekuasaannya kembali. Apakah kalian paham?

Kalian berkata, dari mana kita tahu itu?

Bagian bawah halaman. Binatang ini bicara seperti naga. Dan naga itu lambang Setan bekerja melalui Roma. Kita diberitahu bahwa dia mengeksekusi semua autoritas Binatang yang pertama. Maka oleh autoritas siapa Binatang yang muncul dari bumi ini berfungsi? Dia menjalankan semua autoritas Binatang yang pertama yang mewakili Kepausan. Dia memerintahkan semua orang untuk menyembah Binatang yang pertama. Dia membuat patung Binatang yang pertama. Dia memberlakukan secara paksa tanda Binatang pertama. Kalian paham?

Pada dasarnya apa yang dikatakan di sini ialah, Amerika Serikat akan menjadi alat yang dipakai Setan untuk memulihkan kekuasaan Kepausan. Jadi luka yang mematikan itu tidak disembuhkan di tahun 1929, karena bukan Italia yang akan menyembuhkan luka yang mematikan itu, melainkan Amerika Serikat yang akan mengembalikan pedang kekuasaan sipil kepada Kepausan. Kalian paham?

The first Beast changed the times and the Law, so the second Beast must mirror these two characteristics. Is that clear? It makes an image of the first Beast, hello!

Revelation 13:13 and 16:13, notably the Beast from the earth is called what? Hmm, what is the Beast from the earth called? The false prophet. Why would the Devil raise a false prophet? In response to the true prophet. Are you seeing the connection with Revelation 12:17? God says, “I'm going to restore the true gift of prophecy to God's people in the end time.” This prophet will be instrumental in establishing a people that keep God's holy Law and a people that have a true comprehension of Bible prophecy.

Does the Devil know that God was going to raise such a prophet? He says, “What I'm going to do is, I am going to enforce the mark of the Beast ~ which is the change in the Law ~ and I am going to raise a false prophet to hide the true prophet who is trying to establish the true prophetic scenario.” So let's go back here.

The Beast from the earth is called the false prophet. We are told that this false prophet will perform signs and wonders, even bringing fire down from heaven in the sight of men. It says there, “ ¹³ He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” And then a little bit later on, in Revelation  it says, “ ¹³ And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the Beast, and out of the mouth of the…” what?  “…false prophet.” 

So is the Devil going to raise a false prophet

to try and counteract the message of the true prophet? Absolutely! So are you seeing the connection here?

The Little Horn thinks that he can change what? Times and Law.

God says, “At the end of this period, I will raise up a movement that will say that we're supposed to keep God's Law, and that will have the true gift of prophecy in its midst, and show the true prophetic scenario.”

So the Devil says, “I will respond by raising up a false prophet that will impose the mark of the Beast, the change in the Law, and that will change God's prophetic scenario.”

How many of you are understanding what we're saying?

Who is that prophet that God raised up? Ellen White, folks! Just read the book Great Controversy, it's like reading the newspaper.

 

Wahyu 13:13 dan 16:13, khusunya Binatang yang muncul dari bumi dinamakan apa? Hmmm, Binatang yang keluar dari bumi disebut apa? Nabi palsu. Mengapa Iblis mau membangkitkan seorang nabi palsu? Sebagai respon kepada nabi yang sejati. Apakah kalian melihat hubungannya dengan Wahyu 12:17? Allah berkata, “Aku akan memulihkan karunia nubuat yang sejati kepada umat Allah pada akhir zaman.” Nabi ini akan berperan dalam menegakkan suatu umat yang memelihara Hukum Allah yang kudus dan yang memiliki pemahaman sejati mengenai nubuatan Alkitab.

Apakah Iblis tahu bahwa Allah akan membangkitkan seorang nabi seperti ini? Dia berkata, “Apa yang akan aku lakukan ialah, aku akan memberlakukan dengan paksa tanda Binatang ~ yang adalah perubahan Hukum ~ dan aku akan membangkitkan seorang nabi palsu untuk menutupi nabi yang sejati yang berusaha menunjukkan skenario nubuatan yang benar.” Jadi mari kita kembali.

Binatang yang muncul dari bumi disebut nabi palsu. Kita mendapat tahu bahwa nabi palsu ini akan mengadakan tanda-tanda dan mujizat-mujizat, bahkan sampai menurunkan api dari langit di hadapan manusia.

Dikatakan, “¹³ Dan ia mengadakan tanda-tanda yang dahsyat, bahkan ia menurunkan api dari langit ke bumi di depan mata semua orang…”  Lalu sedikit lebih lanjut, di Wahyu 16 dikatakan,  “…¹³ Dan aku melihat tiga roh najis yang menyerupai katak keluar dari mulut naga dan dari mulut Binatang dan dari mulut…”  apa?   “…nabi palsu…” 

Jadi apakah Iblis akan membangkitkan nabi palsu untuk berusaha dan melawan pekabaran nabi yang sejati? Tentu saja! Jadi apakah kalian melihat kaitannya di sini?

Si Tanduk Kecil berpikir dia bisa mengubah apa? Waktu-waktu nubuatan dan Hukum Allah.

Allah berkata, “Pada akhir periode ini, Aku akan membangkitkan suatu gerakan yang akan mengatakan kita harus memelihara Hukum Allah, yang akan memiliki karunia nubuat yang benar di tengah-tengah mereka, dan menunjukkan skenario nubuatan yang benar.”

Maka Iblis berkata, “Aku akan merespon dengan membangkitkan seorang nabi palsu yang akan memberlakukan dengan paksa tanda Binatang ~ yaitu perubahan dalam Hukum ~ dan yang akan mengubah skenario nubuatan Allah.”

Berapa dari kalian yang paham apa yang dikatakan di sini?

Siapa nabi yang dibangkitkan Allah? Ellen White, Saudara-saudara! Baca sajalah buku The Great Controversy, itu seperti membaca surat kabar.

 

 

Now let's finish by talking about characteristics of false prophets.

False prophets have two characteristics, two main characteristics in the Bible.

1.   they teach God's people to disobey God's Law, and

2.   they tell people what they want to hear, portraying prophecy as it will not be fulfilled.

Are those the characteristics that we've been discussing?

Let's read the main passage in Scripture that describes false prophets.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5.  Moses had this clear long ago.

“¹If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder…” see any connection with what we’ve just read in Revelation 13, false prophet will perform what? Signs and wonders to deceive the whole world,  “… ² and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods’—which you have not known—‘and let us serve them,’ ³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ⁴ You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His Commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. ⁵ But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken in order to turn you away from the Lord your God…” are you catching the picture? What does the false prophet do? He turns people away from the Commandments of God. What does a true prophet do? Just the opposite.

 

Nah, mari kita akhiri dengan bicara tentang karakteristik nabi-nabi palsu.

Nabi-nabi palsu punya dua karakteristik, dua karakteristik utama, menurut Alkitab.

1.   Mereka mengajar umat Allah untuk melanggar Hukum Allah, dan

2.   Mereka mengatakan kepada manusia apa yang ingin mereka dengar, menggambarkan nubuatan tidak seperti bagaimana itu nanti akan digenapi.

Apakah itu karakteristik-karakteristik yang sedang kita bahas?

Mari kita baca ayat-ayat di Kitab Suci yang memberikan deskripsi tentang nabi-nabi palsu.

Ulangan 13:1-5, sudah lama ini dijelaskan Musa.

“¹ Apabila di tengah-tengahmu muncul seorang nabi atau seorang pemimpi, dan ia memberikan kepadamu suatu  tanda atau mujizat…”  lihat apa ada kaitannya dengan  yang baru kita  baca di Wahyu 13, nabi palsu akan membuat apa? Tanda-tanda dan mujizat-mujizat untuk menyesatkan seluruh dunia, “…² dan tanda atau mujizat itu terjadi, dan dia berkata kepadamu, katanya, ‘Mari kita mengikuti allah lain’ ~ yang tidak kaukenal ~ ‘dan mari kita berbakti kepadanya’, ³ janganlah engkau mendengarkan perkataan nabi atau pemimpi itu; sebab TUHAN, Allahmu, sedang menguji kamu untuk mengetahui, apakah kamu sungguh-sungguh mengasihi TUHAN, Allahmu, dengan segenap hatimu dan dengan segenap jiwamu. ⁴ Engkau harus hidup menurut TUHAN, Allahmu dan takut akan Dia, dan memelihara Perintah-perintahNya, dan mendengarkan suara-Nya; engkau harus melayani Dia  dan berpaut erat-erat padaNya. ⁵  Tetapi nabi atau pemimpi itu haruslah dihukum mati karena Ia telah berbicara untuk mengalihkan kamu dari TUHAN, Allahmu…”  apa kalian menangkap gambarnya? Nabi palsu berbuat apa? Dia mengalihkan orang dari Perintah-perintah Allah. Nabi yang asli berbuat apa? Yang sebaliknya.

 

 

Notice Jeremiah 26:4-6, I want you to notice that Law and the gift of prophecy are linked together.  “ ⁴ And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord, ‘If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My…” what?  “…in My Law which I have set before you, ⁵ to heed the words of My servants…” whom?  “…the prophets whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them (but you have not heeded), ⁶ then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’…”

So what is “keep My Law” and “listen to My…” what?  “…to My prophets.”  Interesting, both things linked together.

 

Simak Yeremia 26:4-6 saya mau kalian menyimak bahwa Hukum Allah dan karunia nubuat terkait satu sama lain. “⁴ Dan kamu akan berkata kepada mereka, ‘Beginilah firman TUHAN: Jika kamu tidak mau mendengarkan Aku, untuk hidup dalam…” apa?   “…HukumKu, yang telah Kutunjukkan di hadapanmu, ⁵ untuk mendengarkan perkataan hamba-hamba-Ku…” siapa? “…para nabi, yang telah Kuutus kepadamu dengan tidak menunda-nunda waktu, — tetapi kamu tidak mau mendengarkan— ⁶ maka Aku akan membuat rumah ini sama seperti Silo, dan akan membuat kota ini menjadi kutuk bagi segala bangsa di bumi.’…” 

Jadi “memelihara HukumKu” dan “mendengarkan…” apa?  “…nabi-nabiKu”. Menarik. Kedua hal ini terkait satu sama lain.

 

 

Isaiah 8:20 links the Law and the Testimony. Isaiah 8:20, folks, when it says “the Law” it's speaking about the writings of Moses, of which the Ten Commandments are a portion; and “the Testimony” would be the prophets up till that point, because the Testimony is the Testimony of Jesus.

And so if somebody rises and said, “I'm a spokesman for God”, what is the litmus test to see whether they're true or counterfeit?  “To the Law and to the Testimony…” that means to the writings of Moses and the prophets, which is all the writings that existed up to this point “…if they do not speak according to this word…” if they don't speak in harmony with the Law and with the prophets,  “…it is because there is no light in them…” they are in darkness.

 

Yesaya 8:20 menghubungkan Hukum dan Kesaksian. Yesaya 8:20, Saudara-saudara, ketika dikatakan “Hukum” itu bicara tentang tulisan-tulisan Musa, di mana Kesepuluh Perintah termasuk di dalamnya; dan “Kesaksian” adalah tulisan nabi-nabi hingga saat itu, karena “Kesaksian” adalah kesaksian Yesus.

Jadi jika ada yang muncul dan mengatakan “Saya jurubicara Allah”, apakah uji kelayakannya untuk melihat apakah mereka asli atau palsu? “²⁰ Bandingkan dengan Hukum dan dengan Kesaksian…”  ini artinya dengan tulisan-tulisan Musa dan para nabi, yang berarti seluruh tulisan yang ada hingga saat itu. “…Jika mereka tidak berbicara sesuai dengan perkataan ini…” jika mereka tidak bicara selaras dengan Hukum dan dengan tulisan para nabi, “…itu karena tidak ada terang di dalam mereka…”  mereka berada dalam kegelapan.

 

 

1 Corinthians 14:32 says, “ ³² And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.”  In other words, if a prophet arises, he must speak in harmony with previous prophets. False prophets are detected by their attitude towards the Law of God.

 

1 Korintus 14:32 berkata, “³² Dan Roh bernubuat itu tunduk kepada nabi-nabi.” Dengan kata lain, jika muncul seorang nabi, dia harus bicara selaras dengan nabi-nabi sebelumnya. Nabi-nabi palsu dideteksi melalui sikap mereka terhadap Hukum Allah.

 

 

Matthew 7:15, and 21-23, “¹⁵ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. ²¹ Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. ²² Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ ²³ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you…” why doesn't He know these individuals who supposedly prophesied in His name?  “…‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’…” Incidentally that word “lawlessness” is translated in 1 John 3:4 “transgression of the Law” that's one word,  the word ἀνομία [anomia] in Greek. So this could be very well translated: “depart from Me, you transgressors of the Law”. Are you catching the picture?

 

Matius 7:15 dan 21-23, “¹⁵ Waspadalah terhadap nabi-nabi palsu, yang datang kepadamu dengan  kulit domba, tetapi sesungguhnya mereka adalah serigala yang buas. ²¹Bukan setiap orang yang berseru kepadaKu, ‘Tuhan, Tuhan!’ akan masuk ke dalam Kerajaan Sorga, melainkan dia yang melakukan kehendak Bapa-Ku yang di sorga ²² Pada hari itu banyak orang akan berseru kepada-Ku, ‘Tuhan, Tuhan, bukankah kami bernubuat dalam nama-Mu, dan mengusir setan dengan nama-Mu, dan mengadakan banyak mujizat dalam nama-Mu?’ ²³ Pada waktu itulah Aku akan menyatakan kepada mereka, ‘Aku tidak pernah mengenal kamu!…”  mengapa Dia tidak mengenal orang-orang ini yang katanya telah bernubuat dalam namaNya?  “…‘Aku tidak pernah mengenal kamu!  Enyahlah dari Aku, kamu sekalian yang mempraktekkan ketidakadanya Hukum!’…” 

Nah, kata itu   “ketidakadanya Hukum”  di 1 Yohanes 3:4 diterjemahkan  “…pelanggaran Hukum”, itu satu kata dalam bahasa Greeka yaitu ἀνομία [anomia]. Jadi ini bisa diterjemahkan   “…Enyahlah dari Aku, kamu sekalian yang melanggar Hukum!’…” Apakah kalian menangkap gambarnya?

 

 

You read Jeremiah, we're told there in Jeremiah that the people loved certain prophets that came and said, “Peace, peace, all's well.” They said this, you know, “What Jeremiah was saying, that we should subject ourselves to the king of Babylon, don't buy it. Nebuchadnezzar is never going to come. This city is never going to fall. It's going to stand forever. God has promised it.” And the people love to hear that and say, “Aaah, what a wonderful message, thank you so much.” But there was no light in them, because they preached what people wanted to hear. Jesus said, “beware of the moment when everybody speaks well of you, because they did this with the false prophets.” And you know, this makes me reach a very interesting conclusion, and that is, you look today at the most popular person in the world, it's Francis I, hands down, he was even on Rolling Stone magazine's cover! Say, how in the world could he ever be on that magazine? But you know, he's been on Time, he's been on all of these magazines, and people rant and rave about him. Even 78% of Americans look at him favorably. And you know he's just loved everywhere. And so you say, “Well, you know, he's got to be God's emissary, because everybody loves him.” Is that so? Jesus said, you know, so they love the false prophets. Incidentally do you know why they love him so much? Because he says what the world wants to hear.  “Who am I to judge gay people?” And he speaks about global warming, a favorite subject of the secular media. And he speaks about the need to feed the poor, and so people say, wow! You know what, and I'm not saying that's a bad message, but it's what the world wants to hear. But true prophets will tell the truth, and they will be hated. There is no prophet that I know of in Scripture that was loved by the people they were sent to.

 

Kita  baca Yeremia, kita mendapat tahu dari Yeremia bahwa manusia menyukai nabi-nabi tertentu yang datang dan berkata, “Damai, damai, semuanya baik-baik.” Mereka berkata demikian, “Apa yang dikatakan Yeremia bahwa kita harus tunduk kepada raja Babilon, jangan dengarkan itu. Nebukadnezar tidak akan pernah datang. Kota ini tidak akan pernah jatuh. Kota ini akan terus berdiri selamanya. Allah sudah menjanjikannya.” Dan orang-orang suka mendengar itu dan berkata, “Aaah, betapa bagusnya pesan itu, terima kasih banyak.” Tetapi tidak ada terang dalam pesan itu karena mereka mengkhotbahkan apa yang ingin didengar manusia. Yesus berkata, “waspadalah pada saat ketika semua orang bicara baik tentang kamu, karena para nabi palsu berbuat demikian.” (Luk. 6:26) Dan kalian tahu, ini membuat saya tiba pada kesimpulan yang sangat menarik, yaitu, hari ini kita lihat orang yang paling populer di dunia, mudah sekali itulah Francis I, dia bahkan tampil di sampul majalah Rolling Stone! Heran, bagaimana dia bisa sampai berada di majalah itu? Tetapi kalian tahu, dia sudah pernah ada di majalah Time, dia pernah ada di semua majalah, dan orang-orang memuji dan mengelu-elukan dia. Bahkan 78% orang Amerika menyukainya. Dan dia dicintai di mana-mana. Maka orang berkata, “Nah, dia pasti utusan Allah karena semua orang mencintai dia.” Apa benar begitu? Yesus berkata, seperti itulah orang-orang mencintai nabi-nabi palsu.

Tahukah kalian mengapa orang begitu mencintainya? Karena dia mengatakan apa yang dunia suka dengar. “Siapa saya kok menghakimi orang-orang gay?” Dan dia bicara tentang global warming, topik favorit media sekuler. Dan dia bicara tentang keharusan memberi makan yang miskin, maka orang-orang berkata, wow! Kalian harus tahu, saya tidak mengatakan itu pesan yang buruk, tetapi itulah yang suka didengar dunia. Namun nabi-nabi sejati akan memberitahukan kebenaran, dan mereka akan dibenci. Saya tidak pernah tahu ada nabi di Kitab Suci yang dicintai oleh bangsa kepada siapa dia diutus.

 

 

In fact, you might have heard this story, and I'll conclude with this our session this morning. My wife and I last year were invited to go to New Jersey, and I had a series of meetings there in a church in West New York, but West New York is in New Jersey. And one afternoon the lady who invited us to go there, invited us to her house to have a meal. So that afternoon we went, it was before the meeting, and we noticed that not only we were there, but there was also a young man whom we had not you know we hadn't officially met, although he had been in all the previous meetings. And so he shared his testimony with us there at the table.

He said, “You know I was standing on a street corner one Sabbath morning, and I saw this lady walking down the street, very nicely dressed with a Bible in her hand.” He says, “I thought to myself where in the world can this lady be going on a Saturday morning dressed up so well with a Bible?” Because it was like 8:30 near Sabbath school time. And so he went to her and he said, “Ma'am, where are you going so nicely dressed with the Bible?”

She says, “Oh, I'm going to church.”

He said, “You can't be going to church, today’s Saturday, you got the day wrong, people go to church on Sundays.”

She said, “No, not us. We go to the church on Saturday.”

He says, “Really? There's a church that keeps Saturday?”

She said, “Of course, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, that’s my church.”

He says, “Well, can I go with you?”

She said, “Sure, come right along with me.”

So together they went to the church. When he got to the entrance he says to the elder who was greeting people there, he said, “Is this the church that keeps the Seventh-Day Sabbath?”

And the elder said, “Yes, it is.”

He said, “Well, then this is my church.  So I went into the church, sat down, enjoyed Sabbath school.”

During the worship service the pastor read a quotation from Ellen White, he said, “Let's see what Ellen White has to say in the Spirit of Prophecy.”

So this young man never heard the name, he says, “Huh, Ellen White? I wonder who she was? I think when I go home I'm going to Google the name and I'm going to see who that Ellen White was.”

Well, you know when you go to the websites, 90% of them are just inimical to Ellen White. I mean they just terrible, terrible, in their comments about Ellen White. By the way, everything they say has been answered by the White Estate. You know you can go to the White Estate website, and they have an answer for everything that they criticize. You'll find some of those things in the book 101 Questions and some of the material in the syllabus. So anyway he went home, Googled the name Ellen G. White, all of these terrible websites come out, lambasted that she was a plagiarist, she was a liar, her predictions were not fulfilled, you know, she was involved in Freemasonry, all these things.

And so the young man said, “I thought to myself, is this really the church that I want to belong to?” He said, “I think I'll go next Saturday.” So he decided he'd go to church the next Saturday. And so he goes to church after having looked at all of these negative websites about Ellen White.

And the elder was there, and he met him, he said, “Come on in, glad you're here.”

And the young man sat down.

And I'm telling you the story as he told it afterwards.

He said, “You know, after I looked at all of these websites, I said, man, is this the kind of church that I really would like to belong to? I don't think so,” he said, “but then I started thinking. I can't think of one single prophet in the Bible that the people liked, in fact most of them were hated. So if Ellen White is hated so much, she must have been on the right track.”

And so he says to the elder, “You know I've been doing some research on Ellen G. White I'd like to know if you have anything that she's written that I could read.”

And the elder said, “Oh, of course, I have a book, the book the Great Controversy.”

And he says, “Well, can I have a copy?”

He says, “Yes, you can have it.” So the elder gave him a copy of Great Controversy.

He went home, read the book in a week, the whole book, you're talking 800 pages in Great Controversy, he read the whole thing. And the next Sabbath he came to church, and the elder was there and he said, “Sir, there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind, now that I've read this book, that this woman was inspired by the Holy Spirit,” he says, “because I've studied history, I can see what's happening in the world, and what she wrote so long ago is so precise with what has happened, and what is happening now.”

To make a long story short, this individual who decided to research things for himself instead of going by the negative websites, was baptized, and he became a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church very recently, just last year. And as he told the story he says, “Now I'm witnessing to my family, I'm witnessing to my fellow workers, I'm witnessing to anyone that I can find, and I'm distributing copies of the book the Great Controversy.”

 

Nah, mungkin kalian sudah pernah mendengar kisah ini, dan saya akan mengakhiri sesi kita pagi ini dengan kisah ini. Tahun lalu, istri saya dan saya pergi ke New Jersey, saya harus menghadiri serangkaian pertemuan di sebuah gereja di New York barat, tetapi New York barat terletak di New Jersey. Dan suatu sore ibu yang mengundang kami ke sana, mengundang kami ke rumahnya untuk makan. Jadi petang itu kami datang ke rumahnya sebelum pertemuan, dan kami lihat bukan hanya kami di sana tetapi juga ada seorang muda yang belum kami kenal secara pribadi, walaupun dia sudah hadir di pertemuan-pertemuan sebelumnya. Dia berkata, “Suatu Sabat pagi saya berdiri di sudut jalan, dan saya melihat seorang ibu berjalan ke arah saya, berpakaian sangat bagus membawa Alkitab di tangannya.” Katanya, “Saya berpikir, ibu ini mau ke mana Sabtu pagi berpakaian rapi begini dengan membawa Alkitab?” Karena itu sekitar pukul 08:30 dekat-dekat jam Sekolah Sabat. Maka dia mendatangi si ibu dan dia berkata, “Bu, mau ke mana berpakaian bagus begini membawa Alkitab?”

Ibu itu berkata, “Oh, saya mau ke gereja.”

Dia berkata, “Tidak bisa ke gereja, hari ini Sabtu. Ibu salah hari, orang ke gereja pada hari Minggu.”

Kata si ibu, “Tidak, kami tidak. Kami ke gereja hari Sabtu.”

Dia berkata, “Sungguh? Adakah gereja yang memelihara Sabtu?”

Ibu itu berkata, “Tentu saja, gereja Masehi Advent Hari Ketujuh, gereja saya.”

Dia berkata, “Bolehkan saya ikut?”

Ibu itu berkata, “Tentu saja, mari jalan bersama saya.”

Jadi mereka berjalan bersama ke gereja. Ketika tiba di pintu masuk, dia berkata kepada Tua-tua jemaat yang menyambut orang-orang di sana. Dia berkata, “Ini gereja yang memelihara Sabat hari ketujuh?”

Dan tua-tua itu berkata, “Betul.”

Dia berkata, “Nah, kalau begitu, betul ini gereja saya. Jadi saya masuk, duduk, dan menikmati Sekolah Sabat.”

Selama kebaktian, pendeta membacakan kutipan dari Ellen White. Dia berkata, “Mari kita lihat apa kata Ellen White tentang Roh Nubuat.”

Nah, orang muda itu tidak kenal nama itu, dan dia berpikir, “Ellen White? Siapa dia? Nanti kalau pulang aku akan menggoogle nama itu dan aku akan mencari siapa itu Ellen White.”

Nah, kita tahu bila kita ke situs, 90% isinya memusuhi Ellen White. Maksud saya komentar-komentar mereka tentang Ellen White sungguh-sungguh mengerikan. Nah, ketahuilah, semua yang mereka tuduhkan sudah dijawab oleh White Estate. Kita bisa ke situs White Estate, dan di sana ada jawaban untuk segala sesuatu yang mereka kritisi. Kita bisa menemukan beberapa darinya ada di buku 101 Questions, dan beberapa materi di diktat.

Nah, jadi orang muda itu pulang, mencari nama Ellen White di Google, dan muncullah semua situs yang mengerikan itu, yang mencela Ellen White seorang plagiat, seorang pembohong, nubuatan-nubuatannya tidak digenapi, dia terlibat kelompok Freemasonry, semua hal itu.

Maka orang muda ini berkata, “Saya berpikir, apa benar saya mau masuk ke gereja seperti ini?” Dia berkata, “Saya pikir Sabtu depan saya ke sana lagi.” Jadi dia memutuskan dia akan ke gereja itu Sabtu depannya. Dan dia ke gereja itu setelah dia membaca semua situs yang bernada negatif terhadap Ellen White. 

Dan Tua-tua yang di sana menemuinya, dia berkata, “Ayo masuk, senang Anda datang.”

Dan orang muda itu pun duduk.

Dan saya menceritakan kisah ini sebagaimana dia menceritakannya kemudian.

Dia berkata, “Kalian tahu, setelah saya membaca semua situs itu, saya berkata, ‘wah, apakah saya ingin masuk ke gereja seperti ini? Saya rasa tidak.’ Tetapi saya lalu berpikir. Saya tidak bisa mengingat ada satu pun nabi di Alkitab yang disukai manusia, malah kebanyakan dari mereka dibenci. Jadi jika Ellen White begitu dibenci, tentunya dia ada di jalur yang benar.”

Maka dia berkata kepada tua-tua itu, “Saya telah membuat riset tentang Ellen G. White. Saya ingin tahu jika Anda punya tulisannya yang bisa saya baca.”

Dan tua-tua itu berkata, “Tentu saja, saya punya buku, The Great Controversy.”

Dia berkata, “Bolehkah saya mendapatkan satu copy?”

Tua-tua itu menjawab, “Ya, boleh Anda ambil ini.” Jadi tua-tua itu memberinya satu copy The Great Controversy.

Dia pulang, membaca buku ini dalam satu minggu, seluruh buku itu, 800 halaman Great Controversy, dia membaca habis seluruhnya. Dan Sabat berikutnya dia datang lagi ke gereja dan tua-tua itu ada di sana dan dia berkata, “Pak, tidak ada keraguan sama sekali di pikiran saya setelah saya membaca buku ini, perempuan ini memang diilhami oleh Roh Kudus,” katanya, “karena saya sudah mempelajari sejarah, saya bisa melihat apa yang sedang terjadi di dunia, dan apa yang ditulis Ellen White di masa lampau itu begitu tepat dengan apa yang telah terjadi, dan apa yang sedang terjadi sekarang.”

Untuk menyingkat cerita, orang ini yang memutuskan untuk meriset sendiri daripada mempercayai situs-situs yang negatif, dia dibaptis, dan menjadi anggota gereja MAHK, baru-baru saja, tahun lalu. Dan seperti yang dia ceritakan dia berkata, “Sekarang saya bersaksi kepada keluarga saya, saya bersaksi kepada rekan-rekan sekerja saya, saya bersaksi kepada setiap orang yang saya temui, dan saya membagi-bagikan buku The Great Controversy.”

 

 

Folks, if we don't cry out, the stones will. God will find a way of sharing the message. If it's not us, God has a thousand ways of which we know none. The main thing is that we must study for ourselves, we must research these things for ourselves. Let's not take what other people say. People didn't love Ellen White, even in her day; because she said things that they didn't want to hear, she was politically incorrect, she rebuked sin, she openly was critical of wrong decisions that were made, even by the highest leaders in the church, and therefore she was disliked, because nobody likes to be rebuked. And yet rebuke can be one of the greatest blessings for our own personal experience.

 

Saudara-saudara jika bukan kita yang berseru, batu-batu yang akan berseru. Allah akan mencari jalan untuk membagikan pekabaran itu. Jika bukan kita, Allah punya 1001 cara yang tidak satu pun kita ketahui. Yang penting ialah kita harus mempelajari sendiri, kita harus meriset hal-hal ini untuk diri sendiri. Jangan mempercayai apa kata orang lain. Manusia tidak mencintai Ellen White, bahkan di zamannya sendiri; karena dia mengatakan hal-hal yang tidak ingin mereka dengar, dia tidak tepat secara politis, dia menegur dosa, dia terang-terangan mengkritisi keputusan-keputusan salah yang dibuat, bahkan oleh pimpinan-pimpinan tertinggi di gereja. Dan itulah mengapa dia tidak disukai, karena tidak ada manusia yang suka ditegur. Padahal teguran itu bisa menjadi salah satu berkat paling besar dalam pengalaman pribadi kita.

 

 

And so as we've examined this particular subject, we know that God called Ellen White at the right time, in the right place, and with the right message. It is clearly delineated in the chronology of the prophecies of Daniel 7, the prophecy of Revelation 12, and the prophecy of Revelation chapter 13. And I might mention also, that it's contemplated in other prophecies which we did not cover, like Joel chapter 2. You know, in Revelation chapter 6 where it speaks about the great earthquake, and then it speaks about the signs in the sun, the moon, the falling of the stars, and the prophetic gift is presented within the context of those signs, shortly after those signs appear. So there are many ways in which this can be approached, in any way that you approach it, you will find if you have a sincere heart and an open mind that God has raised up this special gift for this time, and this place, and woe to us if we don't take advantage of this wonderful gift.

 

Maka, setelah kita menyimak topik khusus ini, kita tahu bahwa Allah telah memanggil Ellen White pada saat yang tepat, di tempat yang tepat, dengan pekabaran yang tepat. Itu dengan jelas dinyatakan di kronologi nubuatan-nubuatan Daniel 7, nubuatan Wahyu 12, dan nubuatan Wahyu 13. Dan boleh saya tambahkan, itu disinggung juga dalam nubuatan-nubuatan lain yang tidak kita liput, seperti Yoel pasal 2. Kalian tahu, di Wahyu pasal 6 di mana dibicarakan tentang gempa bumi besar, kemudian tentang tanda-tanda pada matahari, bulan, dan jatuhnya bintang-bintang, dan karunia nubuat itu disampaikan dalam konteks tanda-tanda itu, tidak lama setelah munculnya tanda-tanda itu. Jadi ada banyak cara ini bisa disimak, dengan cara apa pun kita menyimaknya, jika kita punya hati yang tulus dan pikiran yang terbuka, kita akan mendapati bahwa Tuhan telah membangkitkan karunia istimewa ini untuk masa ini, dan tempat ini, dan celakalah kita jika kita tidak memanfaatkan karunia yang luar biasa ini.
