What I am going to share with you this afternoon is not all my own. At the beginning of this class you were sent a book, and the book is called The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy, written by Terry Heagy. We found out about this book a few years ago when she sent us a complimentary copy, and that’s been a real blessing because I don’t know of any other book that has been written by an Adventist to face this idea that the Sabbath is supposed to be kept according to a lunar calendar. So this book is the only one that I know of. I am not even sure that the Biblical Research Institute has written anything on this issue of the lunar Sabbath. Terry is a lay person, she’s, I think she’s a stay-at-home Mom, but she has some friends that kept the Sabbath according to the lunar calendar, and so she dedicated many, many hours ~ perhaps I would say days and months and perhaps years ~ to study this idea of keeping the lunar Sabbath. And the result is this book that we sent to you at the beginning of the class.

 

Apa yang mau saya bagikan kalian petang ini bukan bahan saya sendiri. Pada awal kelas ini kalian dikirimi sebuah buku, dan buku itu judulnya The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy, tulisan Terry Heagy. Jadi buku ini adalah satu-satunya yang saya tahu. Bahkan saya tidak yakin apakah The Biblical Research Institute pernah menulis sesuatu tentang isu Sabat lunar ini. Terry adalah orang awam, saya rasa dia adalah seorang ibu rumah tangga, tetapi dia punya teman-teman yang memelihara hari Sabat berdasarkan penanggalan lunar, maka dia mendedikasikan banyak, banyak waktu ~ mungkin bisa saya katakan berhari- hari dan berbulan-bulan dan barangkali bertahun-tahun ~ untuk mempelajari konsep memelihara Sabat lunar ini. Dan hasilnya ialah buku ini yang kami kirimkan kalian pada permulaan kelas ini.

 

 

What I am going to do is, I am going to synthesize a lot of the material that she has in her book, plus I have added a few thoughts of my own, but I thought it would be a good idea at the beginning of the class to give credit where credit is due. Of course ultimately truth belongs to God, but the human instrument that God used is Terry Heagy. So, with that in mind, let’s go to our material page 1 of 8 pages that we are going to study this afternoon. And basically I am going to follow the material pretty closely and I trust that you’ll be able to understand. I tried to simplify it as much as I could, the ~ oh, let’s see ~ the 100 and some pages, 150 pages I synthesized it in 8 pages, the most important parts of the book, where I considered to be the most important parts.

 

Yang akan saya lakukan ialah, saya akan merangkum banyak dari bahan yang ada di dalam bukunya itu, plus saya menambahkan beberapa pemikiran saya sendiri. Tetapi saya anggap baik pada awal kelas ini untuk memberikan penghargaan kepada yang berhak menerimanya. Tentu saja sebenarnya kebenaran yang mutlak itu milik Allah, namun manusia yang dipakai Allah sebagai alatNya ialah Terry Heagy. Maka dengan mengingat hal ini, marilah kita ke bahan kita halaman 1 dari 8 halaman yang akan kita pelajari petang ini. Dan pada dasarnya pembahasan ini mengikuti bahan tersebut sedekat mungkin dan saya yakin kalian akan bisa memahaminya. Saya telah mencoba menyederhanakan seratusan lebih halaman itu  sebisanya ~ oh, 150 halaman itu dalam 8 halaman, bagian yang terpenting dari buku itu, yang saya anggap bagian-bagian yang paling penting.

 

 

Now, let’s talk first of all about what the lunisolar calendar is.

You might be saying, lunisolar?

The “luni” part is from the word “lunar” which means moon. And of course “solar” means sun. So it’s a calendar that depends on the moon and on the sun.

 

Nah, pertama-tama marilah kita bahas apakah penanggalan atau kalender lunisolar itu.

Kalian mungkin berkata, lunisolar?

“Luni” berasal dari kata “lunar” yang artinya bulan. Dan tentu saja “solar” berarti matahari. Maka ini ialah suatu kalender berdasarkan bulan dan matahari.

 

 

Now the first visible new moon which is known as the crescent moon, is the beginning for certain Hebrew Feasts.

The problem with this method of calculation is that on some days the moon might not be visible and according to those who keep the Sabbath according to the moon, the seven-day cycle of the Sabbath begins on that same day as the Feasts.

So in other words the weekly Sabbath begins at the time of the crescent moon.

Thus, the day of the new moon or the crescent moon is also the first day of the Sabbath.

And so according to them, the Sabbath should be kept  the 1^st, the 8^th, the 15^th, the 22^nd, and the 29^th of the month, because the crescent moon will be the first, and then every 7^th day after the crescent moon, you observe the Sabbath.

Now if you do it by the number of the day during the month, the Sabbath would fall on a different day every week. Are you following me or not? It’s like your birthday.

 

Nah, bulan baru yang pertama tampak, yang dikenal dengan sebutan bulan sabit, merupakan awal dari Perayaan-perayaan Yahudi.

Masalah dengan metode penghitungan ini ialah, ada hari-hari di mana bulan mungkin tidak terlihat, dan menurut mereka yang memelihara Sabat menurut bulan ini, siklus Sabat tujuh hari dimulai pada hari yang sama dengan Perayaan-perayaan.  

Jadi dengan kata lain, Sabat mingguan dimulai pada saat bulan sabit.

Maka, hari bulan baru atau bulan sabit juga adalah hari Sabat yang pertama.

Dan menurut mereka, Sabat itu harus dipelihara pada hari ke-1, hari ke-8, hari ke-15, hari ke-22, dan hari ke-29 setiap bulannya, karena bulan sabit itu ialah hari yang pertama,  kemudian setiap hari ke-7 setelah bulan sabit itu, Sabat dipelihara.

Nah, jika Sabat dipelihara sesuai angka tanggal setiap bulan, maka Sabat itu akan jatuh pada hari yang berbeda setiap minggu. Apakah kalian bisa mengikuti atau tidak? Itu sama seperti hari ulangtahun kita. 

 

 

Now continuing, thus the day of the new moon or the crescent moon is also the first 7^th day  Sabbath of the month. And then the 8^th, the 15^th, the 22^nd, and the 29^th of the month  are the succeeding seventh day Sabbaths of that month. Thus, the Sabbath can fall on a different day of the week every week. For this reason, the Sabbath is called ‘luni’  because the moon marks the day when the Sabbath is to be kept, the new moon or the crescent moon,  and it is ‘solar’ because the sun determines the length of the day according to many lunisolar advocates, from sunrise to sunrise!

So you understand why it’s called “lunisolar”? “Luni” because it begins with the first day of the month and it’s determined by the moon, the crescent moon; and “solar” because the length of the day is determined by the sun which is 24 hours.

 

Lanjut, maka hari bulan baru atau bulan sabit juga adalah hari Sabat yang pertama dalam bulan itu. Kemudian hari ke-8, ke-15, ke-22, dan ke-29 bulan tersebut adalah hari Sabat-sabat berikutnya dalam bulan itu. Maka, hari Sabat bisa jatuh pada hari yang berbeda-beda setiap minggu. Inilah alasannya Sabat ini dikatakan “luni” karena bulan yang dipakai untuk menentukan di hari mana Sabat itu harus dipelihara, bulan baru atau bulan sabit; dan juga “solar” karena matahari menentukan panjangnya hari, yang menurut banyak pendukung lunisolar, berlaku dari matahari terbit hingga matahari terbit!

Jadi, kalian paham mengapa ini disebut “lunisolar”? “Luni” karena dimulai pada hari pertama bulan dan itu, ditentukan oleh bulan yaitu bulan sabit; dan “solar” karena panjangnya hari ditentukan oleh matahari yaitu 24 jam.

 

 

Now, there are problems with this Lunisolar Calendar.  The lunar month has only 29 days and sometimes it has 30 days, so obviously it is impossible for more than four complete weeks to fit into the moon’s phases without having a day leftover, right? Because four full weeks would be how many days? Would be 28 days. But the lunar month has 29 and sometimes it has 30, so you have days leftover. So what do Lunisolar advocates do with this?

 

Nah, ada masalah dengan penanggalan lunisolar ini. Bulan lunar hanya memiliki 29 hari, dan terkadang 30 hari, maka jelas tidak mungkin ada lebih dari empat minggu lengkap yang muat dalam fase-fase bulan itu tanpa meninggalkan hari yang tersisa, betul? Karena empat minggu yang lengkap ialah berapa hari? 28 hari. Tetapi bulan lunar punya 29 dan terkadang 30 hari, jadi ada hari yang tersisa. Apa yang dilakukan para pendukung lunisolar dengan masalah ini?

 

 

So, according to the lunisolar advocates, the week resets at the next New moon. Therefore, we have two Sabbaths, one right after the other at the end of the month. Feast-keepers call this a ‘long weekend’. So in other words if the last Sabbath of the month is on the 29^th of the month and the next crescent moon is on the 1^st day of the month, you have a short period between one Sabbath and the other. Are you following me or not? So they call this a “long weekend”.

 

Maka, menurut para pendukung lunisolar ini, siklus satu minggu itu diatur ulang atau direset saat bulan baru berikutnya. Oleh sebab itu akan ada dua Sabat yang satu mengikuti yang lain pada akhir bulan. Para pemelihara Perayaan-perayaan menamakan ini “weekend panjang”. Jadi dengan kata lain, jika Sabat yang terakhir dalam bulan itu terjadi pada hari ke-29 di bulan itu, sementara bulan sabit berikutnya terjadi pada hari pertama dari bulan itu, maka ada suatu periode yang singkat antara satu Sabat dengan Sabat berikutnya. Apakah kalian mengikuti saya atau tidak? Jadi mereka menyebut ini “weekend panjang”.

 

 

But it gets even more interesting! There is no mention in the Manna episode of two Sabbaths coming one right after the other and the need for people to pick up triple or quadruple quantities of bread for the “long weekend”.

 

Tapi ini semakin menarik! Di kisah tentang manna, tidak pernah disebutkan adanya dua Sabat yang terjadi berurutan yang satu mengikuti yang lain, maupun keharusan orang-orang untuk memungut jatah manna tiga kali lipat atau empat kali lipat untuk periode “weekend panjang.”

 

 

Feast-keepers call the extra day at the end of the month a “non day”. However, every day has an evening and morning. If a day has an evening and morning,  how can you say that it’s a “non-day”? Nowhere in the Bible is there the slightest hint of such a thing as a non-day. What would a person do on a non-day? Would they work, would they rest on a non-day? The Bible is silent on this matter.

 

Para pemelihara Perayaan-perayaan menamakan hari yang lebih pada akhir bulan itu “bukan-hari”. Tetapi setiap hari memiliki satu petang dan satu pagi. Jika hari itu memiliki satu petang dan satu pagi, bagaimana bisa dikatakan itu adalah “bukan-hari”? Di Alkitab tidak pernah disinggung sedikit pun tentang sesuatu seperti “bukan-hari” ini. Apa yang harus dilakukan orang pada saat “bukan-hari”? Apakah mereka harus bekerja? Apakah mereka harus beristirahat pada “bukan-hari”? Alkitab bungkam tentang hal ini.

 

 

There is no such thing as the resetting  of the week with each new or crescent moon. God established a simple way of keeping the Sabbath—every seventh day of the weekly cycle, was determined by the sun at Creation. Thus, the sun, not the moon, determines the weekly recurrence of the Sabbath and its length.

So far so good?

 

Sama sekali tidak ada pengaturan ulang dari siklus mingguan pada setiap bulan baru atau bulan sabit.  Pada saat Penciptaan Allah telah menentukan cara yang sederhana untuk memelihara Sabat ~ setiap hari yang ketujuh dari siklus mingguan, yang ditentukan oleh matahari. Dengan demikian, mataharilah dan bukan bulan yang menentukan kapan Sabat mingguan itu terjadi lagi dan lamanya berlangsung.

Sampai di sini semuanya jelas?

 

 

A critical question to ask is how can we know which day is number one during Creation week if the moon determines the days of the week? God made the moon on the fourth day, in the middle of the first week. The Bible describes the week as six evenings and mornings with the Sabbath ending it, so where would the Lunar Sabbath fit into that first week of Creation? There is no way of knowing the phase of the moon when the moon was created and even if it was a crescent moon when it was made on the fourth day of creation, the Sabbath could not have  fallen on day one or on day eight of that very first lunar month, because the moon comes into existence on the fourth day. Do you understand what this is saying? It opens up a can of worms. 

Now, the moon is not the foundation of Creation week; God created it to help define the seasons of the year, and the difference of course between day and night.

 

Pertanyaan kritis yang harus diajukan ialah, jika bulan yang menentukan hari-hari dalam satu minggu bagaimana kita bisa tahu hari yang mana adalah hari pertama saat Penciptaan? Allah menciptakan bulan pada hari keempat, di tengah-tengah minggu yang pertama. Alkitab menerangkan bahwa ada enam petang dan pagi dalam minggu tersebut, dan Sabat yang menutupnya. Jadi di mana Sabat lunar ini bisa masuk dalam minggu pertama Penciptaan? Tidak ada cara untuk mengetahui fase apa bulan itu pada saat bulan itu diciptakan, dan kalaupun saat diciptakan pada hari keempat  bulan itu dalam fase bulan sabit, Sabat tidak mungkin jatuh pada hari pertama atau hari ke-8 dari bulan lunar yang pertama ini, karena bulan, baru ada pada hari keempat. Apakah kalian paham apa yang dikatakan di sini?  “Solusi” ini justru menciptakan lebih banyak keruwetan lagi.

Nah, bulan bukanlah fondasi minggu Penciptaan. Allah menciptakan bulan untuk membantu menentukan musim setiap tahun, dan tentunya untuk membedakan antara siang dan malam.

 

 

Let’s talk about the Feasts and the Lunisolar Calendar.

Those who keep the Sabbath according to a lunar reckoning commit the same mistake as the Feast-keepers.

They argue in the following way: The observance of the Feasts depended on the moon, the Sabbath is one of the Feasts and therefore we must determine the weekly recurrence of the Sabbath by the moon as well. Are you understanding the reasoning?

 

Marilah kita membahas tentang Perayaan-perayaan dan penanggalan lunisolar.

Mereka yang memelihara Sabat menurut perhitungan lunar membuat kesalahan yang sama yang dilakukan para pemelihara Perayaan-perayaan.

Argumentasi mereka ialah: Perayaan-perayaan dipelihara berdasarkan bulan. Karena Sabat adalah salah satu Perayaan, maka kami harus menentukan siklus pengulangannya menurut bulan juga. Apakah kalian paham alasan ini?

 

 

Now, let me read you how it is described by the author of this book. “All the lunisolar arguments seem to boil down to whether God tied the Sabbath to the same method as calculating the Feasts by the moon, or if He set up a weekly cycle at Creation for the Sabbath and preserved it to our day.”  The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy, p. 151.

So basically what we are saying is that their argument is based on the idea that the Sabbath is one of the Feasts, and because the Feasts were determined by the moon so the Sabbath must also be determined by the moon.

But as we noticed in our last class, there is really a distinction between the Ceremonial Feast days and the seventh day Sabbath. The Sabbath is to be kept besides the Feasts of the Lord.

Jadi pada dasarnya apa yang dikatakan ialah, argumentasi mereka berdasarkan konsep bahwa Sabat adalah salah satu Perayaan, dan karena Perayaan ditentukan oleh perhitungan lunar, maka Sabat harus ditentukan oleh perhitungan lunar juga.

Tetapi sebagaimana telah kita simak dalam kelas kita yang lalu, sesungguhnya ada suatu perbedaan yang jelas antara hari-hari Perayaan Seremonial dengan Sabat Hari Ketujuh. Sabat ini harus dipelihara terpisah dari Perayaan-perayaan Tuhan.

 

 

Now we have evidence that Jesus did not keep a Lunar Sabbath. John 7:2 states that Jesus observed the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem and the great day of the Feast was the last day of its observance (John 7:37-39). Now, bear with me on this.

The last day of the Feast of Tabernacles falls on the 22^nd  of the Jewish month (Leviticus 23:36). So what day would be the day that Jesus was there for the great day of the Feast where He said, “he who has thirst, come to Me and drink”? That would be on the 22^nd day of the month, right?

Now, according to Feasts-keepers and also believers in the lunisolar Sabbath, that day would be what? It would be a Sabbath, remember the Sabbath is the 1^st, the 8^th, the 15^th, the 22^nd, the 29^th? So that must have been on a Sabbath, that great day of the Feast.

But there is a serious problem. And that is, that in the very next chapter we are told that it was a Sabbath and Jesus had a controversy with those individuals, with the Jewish religious leaders (John 8:2; 9:14, 15) because He healed a man blind from birth from his blindness. So what day would have been the Sabbath then? The great day of the Feast was the 22^nd of the month, we know that from the Jewish calendar, and the next day was when Jesus healed the man born blind. Then Jesus did not keep a lunar Sabbath. Are you with me or not?

 

Nah, kita punya bukti bahwa Yesus tidak memelihara Sabat lunar. Yohanes 7:2 menyatakan bahwa Yesus merayakan Perayaan Tabernakel di Yerusalem, dan puncak perayaan tersebut adalah hari perayaannya yang terakhir (Yohanes 7:37-39). Sekarang, dengarkan baik-baik. Hari terakhir Perayaan Tabernakel jatuh pada hari ke-22 bulan Yahudi (Imamat 23:36). Maka, hari apa itu saat Yesus ada di sana untuk merayakan hari puncak perayaan tersebut di mana Dia berkata, "Barangsiapa haus, baiklah ia datang kepada-Ku dan minum!”? Itu tentunya pada hari ke-22 dari bulan tersebut, betul?

Nah, menurut para pemelihara Perayaan-perayaan dan juga para peyakin Sabat lunar, hari itu mestinya hari apa? Hari Sabat, ingat, Sabat mereka ialah pada hari ke-1, ke-8, ke-15, ke-22, ke-29?  Maka hari itu haruslah hari Sabat, hari puncak Perayaan Tabernakel itu. Tetapi ada masalah besar. Dan itu ialah, di pasal berikutnya, kita diberitahu hari di pasal berikutnya itu yang Sabat di mana Yesus berselisih dengan orang-orang, para pemuka Yahudi (Yohanes 8:2; 9:14, 15) karena Yesus telah menyembuhkan seorang yang buta sejak lahir dari kebutaannya. Kalau begitu, hari mana yang sebenarnya hari Sabat? Kita tahu dari penanggalan Yahudi bahwa puncak Perayaan Tabernakel itu ialah pada hari ke-22 dari bulan itu, dan hari berikutnya ialah ketika Yesus menyembuhkan orang yang buta sejak lahirnya. Berarti Yesus tidak memelihara Sabat lunar. Apakah kalian paham?

 

 

Now, let’s talk about the Seventy Weeks and Pentecost.

The prophecy of the 70 weeks works only with uninterrupted cycles of sevens. Would you agree with that? It won’t work if you have ‘non days’ if you have “non years”, it’s not going to work. Applying the year-day principle you’d have to have successive days in other words. There can be no “non-days” in the formula.  If a week was sometimes eight or nine days as in the Lunar Sabbath theory, the cycle of seventy sevens/eights/nines would not point us to what year? To the year 31 AD. This prophecy of the Seventy Weeks works only with precise cycles of what? Of sevens, that’s right.

 

Sekarang, marilah kita bahas tentang nubuatan 70 minggu (Daniel 9:24) dan Pentakosta.

Nubuatan 70 minggu/70 sabat hanya bisa berfungsi bila siklus-siklus tujuh harinya tidak terpotong. Apakah kalian setuju? Nubuatan 70 minggu tidak berfungsi jika ada “bukan-hari”, jika ada “bukan-tahun”, nubuatan itu tidak bisa berfungsi. Dengan kata lain, untuk mengaplikasikan prinsip satu hari nubuatan sama dengan satu tahun literal maka hari-harinya harus terjadi berurutan. Tidak bisa ada “bukan-hari” dalam rumus penghitungannya. Jika dalam satu minggu terkadang ada delapan atau sembilan hari seperti teori Sabat lunar, maka siklus 70 kali tujuh masa/delapan masa/sembilan masa tidak akan tiba pada tahun berapa? Tahun 31 AD. Nubuatan 70 minggu ini hanya berfungsi dengan siklus berapa yang tepat? Siklus tujuh, betul. 

 

 

Furthermore, the Feast of Pentecost will only work with continuous cycles of sevens as well. You remember that Pentecost was determined by seven seventh and then the 50^th day was the day of Pentecost? So can you have “non-days” in that formula? Absolutely not. You see, the prophecy of Pentecost makes the lunar Sabbath theory untenable.

Israel was to count seven consecutive seven-day weeks from the day after the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread. After counting 49 days, they were to celebrate Pentecost on the 50th day. This cycle would not work if there were non-days during the month. Are we clear?

 

Lebih jauh, Perayaan Pentakosta juga hanya bisa berfungsi dengan siklus tujuh yang tak terputus. Kalian ingat Pentakosta ditentukan oleh tujuh kali tujuh hari kemudian hari ke-50 adalah hari Pentakosta? Jadi, bisakah ada “bukan-hari” dalam rumus itu? Sama sekali tidak. Kalian lihat, nubuatan Pentakosta membuat teori Sabat lunar gugur.

Orang Israel harus menghitung tujuh kali berturut-turut mingguan tujuh hari, mulai dari setelah hari Sabat Roti Tidak Beragi. Setelah menghitung 49 hari, mereka harus merayakan Pentakosta pada hari ke-50. Siklus ini tidak bisa berfungsi kalau ada “bukan-hari” dalam bulan itu. Apakah jelas? 

 

 

Now, the Lunar Sabbath supporters believe:

1.   That the day is marked by the rising and setting of the sun.

Not all of them, but many of them believe that the day begins at sunrise not at sunset.

Ellen White disagrees with that, because Ellen White says that the day begins when? It begins at evening, at sunset.

But at least they believe that the day 24 hours is determined by the rising and the setting of the sun. 

2.   Those who believe in the lunisolar Sabbath, believe that the day begins with the rising sun.

Ellen White disagrees with that. She agrees that the day is 24 hours, is determined by the rising and setting sun, but she disagrees that the day begins with the rising of the sun instead of the setting of the sun.

3.   Another point is  the weekly cycle began at Creation and is determined by the moon, not the sun.

Those who believe the lunisolar Sabbath believe that.

Ellen White what? Disagrees with that point of view. 

4.   Jesus could not have been crucified on Friday according to those who keep the lunar Sabbath, in the year 31 AD. 

Ellen White disagrees. She says that Christ was crucified on Friday, and she says that was in the year 31.

5.   Finally, the crucifixion of Jesus according to those who keep the lunar Sabbath, took place on a Wednesday, not on a Friday.

The serious implication of this is that Jesus did not rest in the grave the entire Sabbath day. Ellen White strongly disagrees.

So immediately you see a conflict between the writings of Ellen White and those who believe in keeping a lunisolar Sabbath.

 

Nah, pendukung Sabat lunar meyakini:

1.   Bahwa hari itu ditentukan oleh terbit dan terbenamnya matahari.

Banyak dari mereka, walaupun tidak semuanya, meyakini bahwa hari itu dimulai saat terbitnya matahari, bukan saat terbenamnya matahari.

Ellen White tidak setuju dengan pendapat itu karena Ellen White berkata hari itu dimulai kapan? Dimulai saat petang, saat matahari terbenam.

Tetapi, sedikitnya mereka meyakini bahwa ke-24 jam dalam sehari itu ditentukan oleh terbit dan terbenamnya matahari.

2.   Mereka yang meyakini Sabat lunisolar, meyakini bahwa hari itu dimulai saat terbitnya matahari.

Ellen White tidak setuju dengan pendapat itu. Ellen White setuju bahwa satu hari itu 24 jam dan ditentukan oleh terbit dan terbenamnya matahari, namun dia tidak setuju bahwa hari itu mulai saat terbitnya matahari dan bukan terbenamnya matahari.

3.   Point yang lain ialah siklus mingguan dimulai saat Penciptaan dan ditentukan oleh bulan, bukan oleh matahari.

Mereka yang meyakini Sabat lunisolar meyakini ini.

Bagaimana Ellen White? Tidak setuju dengan pendapat tersebut.

4.   Yesus tidak mungkin disalibkan di tahun 31 AD pada hari Jumat menurut mereka yang memelihara Sabat lunar. 

Ellen White tidak sependapat, dia berkata bahwa Kristus disalibkan pada hari Jumat dan dia berkata itu terjadi di tahun 31 AD.

5.   Akhirnya, menurut mereka yang memelihara Sabat lunar, penyaliban Yesus terjadi pada hari Rabu bukan pada hari Jumat.

Akibat serius yang timbul dari pendapat ini ialah Yesus tidak beristirahat di dalam kubur sepanjang hari Sabat. Ellen White sangat tidak sependapat.

Jadi segera kita melihat adanya pertentangan antara tulisan Ellen White dengan mereka yang meyakini pemeliharaan Sabat lunar.

 

 

As can be seen, lunisolar advocates agree with Ellen White on some counts and disagree with her on others. In this, they make a selective use of Ellen White when she agrees with their lunisolar calendar.

 

Sebagaimana yang kita lihat, para pendukung lunisolar sependapat dengan Ellen White dalam beberapa hal dan tidak sependapat dengan Ellen White dalam hal-hal lain. Dengan demikian mereka memakai Ellen White secara selektif, bila Ellen White sependapat dengan penanggalan lunisolar mereka.

 

 

So, what did Ellen White teach about the day, the week and the Sabbath? So now we are going to examine what Ellen White believed about these time periods.

Many lunisolar Sabbath keepers believe that the Sabbath begins at sunrise. They explain away Ellen White’s clear comments to the contrary by admitting that she did believe that Sabbath began at sunset but she simply did not have all the light. Therefore, this becomes a matter of the reliability of Ellen White’s inspiration. Notice her clear comments about when the day begins, not at sunrise but at sunset, just like the Bible teaches. I want to read these statements:

“At last Jesus was at rest. The long day of shame and torture was ended. As the last rays of the setting sun ushered in the Sabbath…” so when did the Sabbath begin, at sunrise? No. She says, “…As the last rays of the setting sun ushered in the Sabbath the Son of God lay in quietude in Joseph's tomb. His work completed, His hands folded in peace, He rested through the sacred hours of the Sabbath day.”

Is that a clear statement of when the day begins? Absolutely. That’s The Desire of Ages, p. 769.

 

Jadi, apa yang diajarkan Ellen White tentang hari, tentang satu minggu dan tentang Sabat?

Maka sekarang kita akan memeriksa apa yang diyakini Ellen White tentang periode-periode waktu ini.

Banyak pemelihara Sabat lunisolar meyakini bahwa Sabat mulai saat matahari terbit. Perhatikan komentar Ellen White tentang kapan hari itu dimulai, bukan saat matahari terbit melainkan saat matahari terbenam, sama dengan yang diajarkan Alkitab. “Akhirnya Yesus beristirahat. Hari yang panjang yang dipenuhi penghinaan dan penyiksaan berakhir. Saat sinar terakhir matahari yang terbenam mengantarkan masuknya Sabat…”   jadi kapan Sabat dimulai? Saat matahari terbit? Tidak. Ellen White berkata, “…Saat sinar terakhir matahari yang terbenam mengantarkan masuknya Sabat, Anak Allah terbaring dengan tenang di kubur Yusuf. PekerjaanNya telah selesai, tanganNya terlipat dalam damai, Dia beristirahat selama jam-jam kudus hari Sabat.”

Ini kan pernyataan yang jelas tentang kapan hari itu dimulai? Tepat sekali. Itu dari The Desire of Ages, hal. 769.

 

 

The Desire of Ages, p. 771. “The Sabbath was now drawing on, and it would be a violation of its sanctity for the bodies to hang upon the cross. So, using this as a pretext, the leading Jews requested Pilate that the death of the victims might be hastened, and their bodies be removed…” when?  “…before the setting of the sun.”  

Once again it was urgent to bury Jesus before the setting of the sun so that His body would be in the tomb, when? On the Sabbath.

 

The Desire of Ages, hal. 771, “Sabat sekarang menjelang dan tubuh-tubuh yang masih tergantung di salib merupakan pelanggaran kekudusannya. Maka, dengan alasan ini, para pemuka Yahudi memohon kepada Pilatus agar kematian korban-korban itu boleh dipercepat dan tubuh-tubuh mereka dipindahkan…”  kapan?   “…sebelum matahari terbenam.”

Sekali lagi, menguburkan Yesus sebelum matahari terbenam sudah mendesak supaya tubuhNya boleh berada di dalam kubur, kapan? Pada hari Sabat.

 

 

Here’s another one. This is The Desire of Ages, p. 774. “The women were last at the cross, and last at the tomb of Christ. While the evening shades were gathering, Mary Magdalene and the other Marys lingered about the resting place of their Lord, shedding tears of sorrow over the fate of Him whom they loved. And they returned and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment." (Luke 23:56).

So the Sabbath begins while the evening shades were gathering.

So those who believe in the lunisolar Sabbath  that the day begins at sunrise are in direct opposition to the writings of Ellen While. She believed that it was at evening when the sun sets.

 

Ini satu lagi. Ini dari The Desire of Ages, hal. 774. “Orang-orang perempuan adalah yang terakhir di dekat salib, dan yang terakhir di kubur Kristus. Sementara tabir senja merapat, Maria Magdalena dan Maria-Maria lainnya masih enggan meninggalkan tempat persemayaman Tuhan mereka, sambil meneteskan air mata duka atas nasib Dia yang mereka kasihi. Dan mereka pulang dan beristirahat pada hari Sabat sesuai dengan Perintah Allah.” (Lukas 23:56)

Jadi Sabat dimulai saat tabir senja merapat.

Maka mereka yang meyakini Sabat lunisolar bahwa hari itu dimulai saat matahari terbit merupakan kontradiksi langsung dengan tulisan Ellen White. Ellen White meyakini itu petang hari saat matahari terbenam.

 

 

Another thing that Ellen While believed is that the sun determines the length of the day. And by the way, in this lunar-Sabbath-keepers agree that the day is 24 hours long and it’s marked by the rising and setting of the sun.  I’ve read these statements before but let me read them once again.

“When the Lord declares that He made the world in six days and rested on the seventh day, He means the day of twenty-four hours, which He has marked off by the rising and setting of the sun.”   Twenty four hours, the rising and setting of the sun. That’s Testimonies to Ministers, p. 135.

 

Hal lain yang diyakini Ellen White ialah matahari yang menentukan panjangnya hari. Dan ketahuilah, dalam hal ini para pemelihara Sabat lunar setuju bahwa satu hari itu 24 jam dan ditentukan oleh terbit dan terbenamnya matahari. Saya sudah membacakan pernyataan-pernyataan ini tadi tetapi izinkan saya membacakan lagi.

“Ketika Tuhan menyatakan bahwa Dia telah menciptakan dunia dalam enam hari dan berhenti pada hari ketujuh, yang dimaksudNya ialah hari yang 24 jam, yang telah ditentukanNya dengan terbit dan terbenamnya matahari.” Dua puluh empat jam, terbit dan terbenamnya matahari. Itu dari Testimonies to Ministers, hal. 135.

In Selected Messages, volume 3, p. 317, she wrote, “God rested on the seventh day, and set it apart for man to observe in honor of His creation of the heavens and the earth in six literal days. He blessed, sanctified, and made holy the day of rest. When men are so careful to search and dig to see in regard to the precise period of time, we are to say: ‘God made His Sabbath for a round world and when the seventh day comes to us in that round world, controlled by…” the moon that rules the night. Thank you very much, let’s go back.   “…When men are so careful to search and dig to see in regard to the precise period of time, we are to say: ‘God made His Sabbath for a round world and when the seventh day comes to us in that round world, controlled by the sun that rules the day, it is the time in all countries and lands to observe the Sabbath. In the countries where there is no sunset for months, and  again no sunrise for months, the period of time will be calculated by records kept. . . .’”

 

Di Selected Messages, volume 3, hal. 317, Ellen White menulis, “Allah berhenti pada hari ketujuh, dan memisahkannya untuk dipelihara manusia sebagai penghormatan pada PenciptaanNya atas langit dan bumi selama enam hari literal. Allah memberkati, menguduskan, dan menjadikan hari perhentian itu kudus. Bila manusia begitu cermat mencari dan menggali untuk melihat mengenai periode waktu yang tepat, kita harus berkata, ‘Allah telah menjadikan Sabat bagi dunia yang bulat dan ketika hari yang ketujuh datang kepada kita di dunia yang bulat itu, dikendalikan oleh…”  bulan yang memerintahkan malam… (suara-suara protes) Terima kasih banyak, mari kita kembali, “…Bila manusia begitu cermat mencari dan menggali untuk melihat mengenai periode waktu yang tepat, kita harus berkata, ‘Allah telah menjadikan Sabat bagi dunia yang bulat dan ketika hari yang ketujuh datang kepada kita di dunia yang bulat itu, dikendalikan oleh matahari yang memerintahkan siang, itulah waktunya di semua negara dan tempat untuk memelihara Sabat. Di negara-negara di mana tidak ada matahari terbenam selama berbulan-bulan, dan juga tidak ada matahari terbit selama berbulan-bulan, periode waktunya akan dihitung menurut  catatan yang ada.”

 

 

Here's another one. Selected Messages, volume 3, p. 317, “The Lord accepts all the obedience of every creature He has made, according to the circumstances of time in the sun-rising and sun-setting world. The Sabbath was made for a round world, and therefore obedience is required of the people that are in perfect consistency with the Lord's created world.” --Letter 167, 1900.

 

Ini yang lain. Selected Messages, volume 3, hal. 317. “…Tuhan menerima kepatuhan setiap makhluk yang telah diciptakanNya, menurut kondisi waktu di dunia di mana matahari terbit dan terbenam. Sabat diciptakan untuk dunia yang bulat, karena itu kepatuhan diminta dari manusia yang dalam keserasian yang sempurna dengan dunia yang diciptakan Tuhan.” --Letter 167, 1900.

 

 

And one more, same Volume 3 of Selected Messages, pp. 318, 319, she is writing to a certain sister, who is confused, “My sister, let not your faith fail. We are to stand fast by our colors, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. All those who hold the beginning of their confidence firm unto the end will keep the Seventh-day Sabbath, which comes to us as marked by…”  the moon, that’s not what she says,   “…which comes to us as marked by the sun. The fallacy of the day line…”  that’s the international date line, “…is a trap of Satan to discourage. I know what I am speaking about. Have faith in God. Shine where you are, as a living stone in God's building.” 

 

Dan satu lagi, Volume 3 yang sama dari Selected Messages, hal. 318, 319, Ellen Whtie menulis kepada seorang jemaat perempuan yang bingung, “Saudaraku, imanmu jangan goyah. Kita harus berdiri teguh menurut ciri khas kita, yaitu Perintah-perintah Allah dan iman Yesus. Semua yang berpegang teguh pada iman mula-mula mereka hingga akhir akan memelihara Sabat Hari Ketujuh, yang datang kepada kita sebagaimana ditandai oleh…”    bulan, bukan itu katanya, “…yang datang kepada kita seabgaimana ditandai oleh matahari. Kesalahan batas hari…”  maksudnya batas hari internasional, “…adalah jebakan Setan untuk melemahkan. Saya tahu betul apa yang saya katakan. Percayalah kepada Allah. Bersinarlah di mana kamu berada, sebagai batu yang hidup dalam bangunan Allah.”

 

 

So Ellen White first of all believed that the day is marked by the rising and setting of the sun. She also believed that the sun determines the length of the day, and also the sun determines the length of the week, as we’ve noticed.

 

Jadi pertama Ellen White meyakini bahwa hari itu ditentukan oleh terbit dan terbenamnya matahari. Dia juga meyakini bahwa matahari yang menentukan panjangnya hari, dan matahari juga yang menentukan panjangnya minggu, sebagaimana yang sudah kita simak.

 

 

And now we’re going to notice that she believed that God established the weekly cycle of seven days at Creation. Has the weekly cycle ever been broken? No. The weekly cycle as far as we know has never been broken. Do you suppose God would tell us to keep the Sabbath and then He would allow us to lose the weekly cycle?  God doesn’t operate that way. The Jews have been keeping the same Sabbath for thousands of years. Jesus kept the same Sabbath that we keep today, and Jesus was the Creator. So if He kept the same Sabbath that we keep today, He was keeping the same Sabbath of Creation because He made it.  He would not be keeping the wrong day.

 

Dan sekarang kita akan melihat bahwa Ellen White meyakini Allah menentukan siklus mingguan tujuh hari saat Penciptaan. Apakah siklus mingguan ini pernah terputus? Tidak. Siklus mingguan sepanjang pengetahuan kita tidak pernah terputus. Menurut kalian apakah Allah menyuruh kita memelihara Sabat kemudian Dia mengizinkan kita kehilangan siklus mingguannya? Allah tidak bekerja seperti itu. Orang-orang Yahudi telah memelihara Sabat yang sama selama ribuan tahun. Yesus memelihara Sabat yang sama yang kita pelihara sekarang, dan Yesus itu Sang Pencipta. Jadi jika Yesus memelihara Sabat yang sama yang kita pelihara sekarang, Yesus memelihara Sabat yang sama saat Penciptaan karena Dia yang menciptakannya, Dia pasti tidak akan memelihara hari yang salah.

 

 

Now, let’s read these statements of Ellen White that God established the weekly cycle of seven days at creation.

“Like the Sabbath, the week originated at creation, and it has been preserved and brought down to us through Bible history. God Himself measured off the first week as a sample for successive weeks to the close of time….”   So would the Sabbath today be the same Sabbath at creation?  Come on, folks, let’s not start looking for all kinds of novel ideas when the Spirit of Prophecy is crystal clear, and the Bible is too.  She continues writing, “…Like every other, it consisted of seven literal days. Six days were employed in the work of creation; upon the seventh, God rested, and He then blessed this day and set it apart as a day of rest for man.” Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 111.

So, do you have  successive weekly cycles after this? So would the Sabbath recur on the seventh day from that point on? It’s not rocket size, you don’t have to be king Solomon or Albert Einstein to understand this. It’s crystal clear in the Bible and in the Spirit of Prophecy.

 

Sekarang marilah membaca pernyataan-pernyataan Ellen White bahwa Allah menentukan siklus mingguan tujuh hari saat Penciptaan.

“Seperti Sabat, mingguan itu bermula saat Penciptaan dan itu dipertahankan dan diturunkan kepada kita melalui sejarah Alkitab. Allah sendiri menakar dan memisahkan minggu yang pertama sebagai contoh bagi minggu-minggu berikutnya hingga akhir zaman…” Jadi apakah Sabat sekarang sama dengan Sabat saat Penciptaan? Ayolah, Saudara-saudara, jangan mencari segala macam ide cemerlang sementara Roh Nubuat sangat jelas, dan Alkitab juga. Ellen White melanjutkan menulis, “…Sebagaimana minggu-minggu yang lain, minggu yang pertama ini terdiri atas tujuh hari literal. Enam hari dipakai untuk pekerjaan penciptaan. Pada hari ketujuh Allah berhenti, dan Allah kemudian memberkati hari ini dan memisahkannya sebagai hari perhentian bagi manusia.”  Patriarchs and Prophets,  hal. 111.

Jadi apakah setelah ini ada siklus-siklus mingguan yang mengikutinya? Jadi apakah Sabat akan terulang kembali setiap hari ketujuh sejak saat itu? Ini bukan hal yang mahasulit, kita tidak perlu menjadi Raja Salomo atau Albert Einstein untuk memahami ini. Sangat jelas di Alkitab dan di Roh Nubuat.

 

 

Spiritual Gifts, volume 2, p. 90. “I was then carried back to the creation and was shown that the first week, in which God performed the work of creation in six days and rested on the seventh day, was just like every other week. The great God in His days of creation and day of rest, measured off the first cycle as a sample for successive weeks till the close of time. ‘These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created.’ God gives us the productions of His work at the close of each literal day. Each day was accounted of Him a generation, because every day He generated or produced some new portion of His work. On the seventh day of the first week God rested from His work, and then blessed the day of His rest, and set it apart for the use of man. The weekly cycle of seven literal days, six for labor, and the seventh for rest, which has been preserved and brought down through Bible history, originated in the great facts of the first seven days.”

 

Spiritual Gifts, volume 2, hal. 90. “Lalu saya dibawa kembali ke saat Penciptaan dan ditunjukkan bahwa minggu yang pertama di mana Allah bekerja mencipta selama enam hari dan berhenti pada hari ketujuh, itu sama seperti minggu-minggu yang lain. Allah yang mahabesar di saat hari-hari penciptaan dan hari perhentian, menakar dan memisahkan siklus yang pertama sebagai pola bagi minggu-minggu berikutnya hingga akhir zaman. ‘Inilah urut-urutan langit dan bumi saat mereka diciptakan.’ (Kejadian 2:4) Allah memberi kita hasil produksi kerjaNya pada akhir setiap hari literal. Setiap hari diperhitungkan oleh Allah sebagai satu urutan, karena setiap hari Allah menghasilkan atau memproduksi suatu porsi yang baru. Pada hari yang ketujuh dari minggu yang pertama itu Allah berhenti dari pekerjaanNya, lalu memberkati hari perhentianNya, dan memisahkannya untuk dimanfaatkan manusia. Siklus mingguan tujuh hari literal, enam hari untuk bekerja dan yang ketujuh untuk perhentian, yang telah dipelihara dan diturunkan melalui sejarah Alkitab, berasal dari fakta-fakta hebat tujuh hari yang pertama.”

 

There’s another interesting detail that proves that Ellen White believed that the Sabbath was determined by the rising and setting sun for seven days, and then on the seventh day, the sun rises and sets as well.

 

Ada detail menarik lain yang membuktikan Ellen White meyakini bahwa Sabat ditentukan oleh terbit dan terbenamnya matahari selama tujuh hari, kemudian pada hari ketujuh, matahari terbit dan terbenam juga.

 

 

Ellen White uses  interchangeably the word  “Sabbath” and  the word “Saturday”. Would that indicate that she believed that the Sabbath is a Saturday that people mentioned today? Notice these statements:

Counsels on Health, p. 491, “When thinking men find that our restaurants are closed on the Sabbath, they will make inquiries in regard to the principles that lead us to close our doors on Saturday.” So Sabbath is Saturday, according to this.

Notice Life Sketches, p. 95, “Elder Bates was resting upon Saturday, the seventh day of the week…”  oh, wait a minute so which day is the seventh day of the week? It can be any day of the week, right? Of course not.   “…Elder Bates was resting upon Saturday, the seventh day of the week and he urged it upon our attention as the true Sabbath…”  So she uses “Saturday” and “Sabbath” interchangeably.

Here’s another statement, Manuscript Releases, volume 17, p. 79. “The temptation will come. If you keep the Sabbath, the very day the fourth commandment has specified, you shall have to give up this source of gain. You shall have to close your business on Saturday, the busiest and most profitable day in the week. And when you hesitate to comply with a plain ‘Thus saith the Lord,’ because you will lose profit and riches will not increase unto you, you continue in disobedience to God and bow the knee to Satan as he tempted Christ to do.”

 

Ellen White memakai kata “Sabat” dan kata “Sabtu” bergantian. Apakah itu mengindikasikan bahwa dia meyakini Sabat itu yang sekarang disebut orang hari Sabtu? Perhatikan pernyataan-pernyataan ini:

Counsels on Health, hal. 491, “Bila manusia yang berpikir mendapati rumah-rumah makan kita tutup pada hari Sabat, mereka akan mencari tahu mengenai prinsip-prinsip yang membuat kita menutup pintu kita pada hari Sabtu.” Jadi Sabat itu hari Sabtu, menurut ini.

Perhatikan Life Sketches, hal. 95, “Ketua Bates sedang beristirahat di hari Sabtu, hari ketujuh dari minggu itu…” Oh, tunggu sebentar, jadi hari mana hari ketujuh dari satu minggu? Apakah bisa hari apa saja, betul? Tentu saja tidak. “Ketua Bates sedang beristirahat di hari Sabtu, hari ketujuh dari minggu itu, dan dia mengarahkan untuk kita perhatikan sebagai Sabat yang benar…”   Jadi Ellen White memakai “Sabtu” dan “Sabat” bergantian.

Ini pernyataan yang lain, Manuscript Releases, volume 17, hal. 79, “Pencobaan akan datang. Jika kamu memelihara Sabat, yaitu hari yang disebutkan di perintah keempat, kamu harus berhenti dari sumber penghasilan ini. Kamu harus menutup usahamu pada hari Sabtu, hari yang paling sibuk dan paling menguntungkan dalam seminggu. Dan bilamana kamu ragu-ragu menuruti ‘demikianlah sabda Allah’ yang sederhana, karena akibatnya kamu akan kehilangan laba dan kekayaanmu tidak akan bertambah, kamu berlanjut tidak patuh kepada Allah dan bertekuklutut kepada Setan sebagaimana dia telah mencobai Kristus untuk berbuat.”

 

 

Was Ellen White clear about  which day is the Sabbath? Is it the 1^st, the 8^th, the 15^th, the 22^nd, and the 29^th of the month determined by the moon? Listen, if you are keeping those Sabbaths you’re just as guilty as the Roman Catholic church because you’re keeping the wrong Sabbath. That’s serious.

 

Apakah Ellen White jelas mengenai hari mana yang hari Sabat? Apakah hari ke-1, ke-8, ke-15, ke-22, dan ke-29 setiap bulan ditentukan oleh kalender bulan? Dengarkan, jika kalian memelihara Sabat-sabat itu, kalian sama bersalahnya seperti gereja Roma Katolik karena kalian memelihara Sabat yang salah. Itu serius. 

 

 

Now, another thing that Ellen White underlined is that the crucifixion took place in the year 31 AD. Lunar-Sabbath observers believe the same thing, but they believe that Jesus was crucified on Wednesday of the year 31. Ellen White believed that Christ was crucified on Friday of the year 31. Notice this clear statement from Ellen White on the year 31.

“Then, said the angel, ‘He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week…” she is quoting actually from Daniel. “…For seven years after the Savior entered on His ministry, the gospel was to be preached especially to the Jews; for three and a half years by Christ Himself; and afterward by the apostles. ‘In the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…" once again she is quoting Daniel 9:27. And then she remarks, “…In the spring of AD 31, Christ the true sacrifice was offered on Calvary. Then the veil of the temple was rent in twain, showing that the sacredness and significance of the sacrificial service had departed. The time had come for the earthly sacrifice and oblation to cease.” The Desire of Ages, p. 233.

 

Sekarang, hal lain yang digarisbawahi Ellen White ialah bahwa penyaliban terjadi pada tahun 31AD. Pemelihara Sabat Lunar meyakini hal yang sama, tetapi mereka meyakini Yesus disalibkan pada hari Rabu di tahun 31. Ellen White meyakini bahwa Kristus disalibkan pada hari Jumat tahun 31. Perhatikan pernyataan yang jelas dari Ellen White mengenai tahun 31.

“Lalu kata malaikat itu, ‘lalu Pangeran itu akan meneguhkan perjanjian dengan banyak orang selama satu kali tujuh masa (= satu minggu)...” Ellen White sedang mengutip dari Daniel.  “…selama tujuh tahun setelah Juruselamat memulai pelayananNya, Injil harus disampaikan terutama kepada orang-orang Yahudi; tiga setengah tahun oleh Kristus sendiri, kemudian diteruskan oleh para rasul. ‘Pada pertengahan tujuh masa itu ( 7 masa/7 tahun literal = 1 minggu nubuatan; 1 hari nubuatan = 1 tahun literal, 1 minggu nubuatan = 7 tahun literal) Ia akan menghentikan korban sembelihan dan korban persembahan…’” sekali lagi Ellen White mengutip Daniel 9:27. Lalu dia memberi komen, “…Di musim semi tahun 31AD, Kristus, kurban yang sejati dipersembahkan di Kalvari. Lalu tabir Bait Suci cabik menjadi dua, menunjukkn bahwa kekudusan dan makna pelayanan kurban persembahan telah dicabut. Saatnya telah tiba bagi kurban sembelihan dan kurban persembahan duniawi berakhir.” The Desire of Ages, hal. 233.

 

 

Ellen White also states that in the year 31, Christ was crucified on a Friday.

Those who observe a lunar-Sabbath say that He was crucified on a Wednesday. And it’s interesting to notice what two Lunisolar advocates wrote.

Notice this, “Babylon, that huge monolith of mystery, intrigue, deception and paganism, is precariously balanced on one little lie: that Christ was crucified on a Friday and resurrected on a Sunday.” (quoted in The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy, p. 108). That is a serious accusation. They are not only saying that Ellen White is a liar, they are basically saying that the Sabbath kept by the Adventists is Babylonian. In other words, that SDA church would be Babylon.

 

Ellen White juga menyatakan bahwa di tahun 31, Kristus disalibkan pada hari Jumat.

Mereka yang memelihara Sabat lunar mengatakan bahwa Kristus disalibkan pada hari Rabu. Dan menarik melihat apa yang ditulis oleh dua orang pendukung lunisolar. Simak ini, “Babilon, tugu raksasa yang penuh misteri, intrik, penipuan, dan paganisme itu sedang bertumpu dengan sangat berbahaya di atas satu kebohongan kecil: bahwa Kristus disalibkan pada hari Jumat dan bangkit pada hari Minggu.” (dikutip dari The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy, hal. 108). Itu adalah tuduhan yang serius. Notice this clear statement from Ellen White in Testimonies to Ministers pp. 61, 62. This is how it reads: “The fallen denominational churches are Babylon. Babylon has been fostering poisonous doctrines, the wine of error. This wine of error is made up of false doctrines, such as the natural immortality of the soul, the eternal torment of the wicked, the denial of the pre-existence of Christ prior to His birth in Bethlehem, and advocating and exalting the first day of the week above God's holy and sanctified day. These and kindred errors are presented to the world by the various churches, and thus the Scriptures are fulfilled that say, 'For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.' It is a wrath which is created by false doctrines, and when kings and presidents drink this wine of the wrath of her fornication, they are stirred with anger against those who will not come into harmony with the false and satanic heresies which exalt the false sabbath, and lead men to trample underfoot God's memorial.”

 

Simak pernyataan jelas ini dari Ellen White di Testimonies to Ministers  hal. 61, 62.  Beginilah bunyinya: “Denominasi-denominasi gereja murtad itulah Babilon. Babilon telah mengembangkan doktrin-doktrin beracun, anggur kesalahan. Anggur kesalahan ini terdiri atas doktrin-doktrin palsu, misalnya  konsep kebakaan jiwa secara alami, penyiksaan kekal orang-orang jahat, penolakan atas eksistensi Kristus sebelum kelahiranNya di Betlehem, dan meninggikan serta mendukung hari pertama  tiap minggu di atas hari  yang telah dikuduskan Allah yang suci. Kesalahan-kesalahan ini dan sejenisnya, disodorkan kepada dunia oleh bermacam-macam gereja, dengan demikian tergenapilah Firman Allah yang berkata,  ‘segala bangsa minum dari anggur murka hawa nafsu cabulnya.’ (Wah.14:8). Itulah murka yang diciptakan oleh doktrin-doktrin palsu, dan ketika para raja dan presiden minum anggur murka percabulannya itu, amarah mereka pun dibangkitkan terhadap orang-orang yang tidak mau mengikuti kepalsuan dan kemurtadan Setan yang meninggikan sabat yang palsu, dan mengajak manusia untuk menginjak-injak tanda peringatan Allah.”

 

 

So what are we saying here?  If the lunisolar advocates say that “Babylon, that huge monolith of mystery, intrigue, deception and paganism, is precariously balanced on one little lie: that Christ was crucified on a Friday and resurrected on a Sunday”, you would have to say that the SDA church is Babylon. It’s that simple. It is a serious matter to accuse God’s remnant church of drinking and giving the wine of Babylon to the nations.

Ellen White wrote the following, “Those who receive the Testimonies as the message of God will be helped and blessed thereby; but those who take them in…” what?  “…in parts, simply to support some theory or idea of their own, to vindicate themselves in a course of error, will not be blessed and benefited by what they teach. To claim that the Seventh-day Adventist Church is Babylon, is to make the same claim as does Satan, who is an accuser of the brethren, who accuses them before God night and day.” (Testimonies to Ministers, p. 42).

So it is a serious matter what the lunisolar advocates wrote.

 

Jadi apa yang dibicarakan di sini? Jika para pendukung lunisolar berkata, “Babilon, tugu raksasa yang penuh misteri, intrik, penipuan, dan paganisme itu sedang bertumpu dengan sangat berbahaya di atas satu kebohongan kecil: bahwa Kristus disalibkan pada hari Jumat dan bangkit pada hari Minggu”, berarti itu mengatakan gereja MAHK itu Babilon, sesederhana itu. Menuduh gereja Allah yang sisa telah minum dan membagikan anggur Babilon kepada bangsa-bangsa, itu hal yang serius.

Ellen White menulis yang berikut, “Mereka yang menerima kesaksian-kesaksian (= tulisan Roh Nubuat) sebagai pekabaran dari Allah, akan mendapatkan pertolongan dan berkat darinya, tetapi mereka yang menerima kesaksian-kesaksian itu…” bagaimana? “…sebagian-sebagian, sekadar mendukung beberapa teori atau konsep mereka sendiri, untuk membenarkan mereka dalam kesalahan mereka, tidak akan diberkati maupun mendapatkan manfaat dari apa yang mereka ajarkan. Menuduh GMAHK sebagai Babilon, itu sama dengan tuduhan yang dibuat Setan, yang memang adalah pendakwa saudara-saudara, yang mendakwa mereka di hadapan Allah siang dan malam.” (Testimonies to Ministers, hal. 42).

Jadi apa yang ditulis oleh para pendukung lunisolar itu adalah hal yang serius.

 

 

Most lunisolar advocates say that they believe in the Spirit of Prophecy but they claim that Ellen White was wrong in some of her statements because she did not have all the light. Are they not attempting to sustain a theory by a partial and selective use of the Spirit of Prophecy when it is convenient to their theory? Ellen White was explicit that Jesus died on Friday, rested in the tomb on Sabbath and resurrected on Sunday. And of course we already studied the reason why it is important for Jesus to have rested in the tomb all day Sabbath that includes every second of the Sabbath? It was necessary for Jesus to rest the whole day like He had rested the whole day at Creation. If you don’t believe that you destroy the meaning of the Sabbath in Redemption.

 

Kebanyakan pendukung lunisolar berkata mereka mempercayai Roh Nubuat tetapi mereka mengklaim bahwa Ellen White salah dalam beberapa pernyataannya karena dia tidak memiliki seluruh terangnya. Apakah mereka tidak berusaha membenarkan satu teori dengan memakai Roh Nubuat secara parsial dan selektif, jika itu cocok dengan teori mereka? Ellen White sangat jelas bahwa Yesus mati pada hari Jumat, beristirahat di dalam kubur pada Sabat dan bangkit pada hari Minggu. Dan kita sudah mempelajari alasannya mengapa penting bagi Yesus untuk beristirahat di dalam kubur sepanjang hari Sabat, dan itu termasuk setiap sekon dari hari Sabat itu.  Yesus harus beristirahat sepanjang hari itu sebagaimana Dia telah beristirahat sepanjang hari saat Penciptaan. Jika kita tidak meyakini itu, kita merusak makna Sabat dalam Penebusan.

 

 

Ellen White has two statements here that I have included. One of them is in this book, the other one is another statement. I want to read only the second one.

It comes from The Story of Jesus pg.157.

“The Savior was buried on Friday, the sixth day of the week…”  in case you did not understand what day Friday was, she makes it explicit: the sixth day of the week. “…The Savior was buried on Friday, the sixth day of the week. The women prepared spices and ointments with which to embalm their Lord, and laid them aside, until the Sabbath was past…”  So what day was Jesus crucified? Friday, right? The sixth day of the week. So what was the next day after that? Sabbath, the seventh day. She continues writing, “…Not even the work of embalming the body of Jesus would they do upon the Sabbath day. And when the Sabbath was past, very early in the morning the first day of the week…” so when did Jesus resurrect?  The first day of the week.  “…they came unto the sepulcher at the rising of the sun." ( Mark 16:1, 2).

So the Spirit of Prophecy is clear. Friday crucifixion, rest in the tomb on Sabbath, and resurrection on Sunday, the first day of the week.

 

Ada dua pernyataan Ellen White yang saya masukkan di sini. Yang satu ada di dalam buku ini, yang satunya itu pernyataan yang lain. Saya hanya akan membacakan yang kedua.

Itu berasal dari The Story of Jesus hal.157.

“Juruselamat dikuburkan pada hari Jumat, hari keenam dalam minggu itu…” sekiranya ada yang tidak paham Jumat itu hari apa, Ellen White membuatnya jelas: hari keenam dalam minggu itu. “…Juruselamat dikuburkan pada hari Jumat, hari keenam dalam minggu itu. Perempuan-perempuan menyiapkan rempah-rempah dan minyak-minyak untuk membalur Tuhan mereka, lalu menyisihkannya hingga nanti setelah Sabat berlalu…” Jadi pada hari apa Yesus disalibkan? Jumat, betul? Hari keenam dalam satu minggu. Jadi, hari berikutnya itu hari apa? Sabat, hari ketujuh. Ellen White melanjutkan menulis, “…Bahkan pekerjaan merempahi jasad Yesus pun tidak mereka lakukan pada hari Sabat. Dan ketika Sabat sudah berlalu, pagi sekali pada hari pertama minggu itu…” Jadi kapan Yesus bangkit? Hari pertama dari minggu itu,   “…mereka datang ke kubur saat matahari terbit.” (Markus 16:1,2)

Jadi Roh Nubuat itu jelas. Jumat penyalibannya, beristirahat di dalam kubur pada Sabat, dan kebangkitan pada hari Minggu hari pertama dalam minggu itu.

 

 

You know the people who keep the lunar Sabbath they have a good motivation. But good motivations do not make good scholarship.  Their motivation is, that if you can get rid of the Sunday resurrection, Christians have no reason to keep Sunday in honor of the resurrection. But you have to be very careful about these types of arguments. We noted in one of our previous classes that the reason why Jesus resurrected on Sunday is because He has to rest in the tomb on Sabbath. So if He had to rest in the tomb all day Sabbath what day would you expect Him to resurrect? The very next day. But it’s not because the first day was important, it’s because the previous day was important, He had to rest in the tomb in  Redemption as He had rested in Creation.

 

Tahukah kalian mereka yang memelihara Sabat lunar, mereka punya motivasi yang baik. Tetapi motivasi yang baik tidak berarti pelajaran yang baik. Motivasi mereka ialah, jika mereka bisa menyingkirkan kebangkitan hari Minggu, orang-orang Kristen tidak punya alasan untuk memelihara hari Minggu sebagai penghormatan atas kebangkitan. Tetapi kita harus sangat berhati-hati dengan argumentasi semacam ini. Kita telah menyimak dalam salah satu kelas kita yang lalu, bahwa alasan mengapa Yesus bangkit pada hari Minggu ialah karena Dia harus beristirahat di dalam kubur pada hari Sabat. Maka, jika Dia harus beristirahat dalam kubur sepanjang hari Sabat, kapan seharusnya Dia bangkit? Hari berikutnya. Namun itu bukan karena hari pertama itu yang penting, tetapi karena hari sebelumnya yang penting, Dia harus beristirahat di dalam kubur saat Penebusan sebagaimana Dia beristirahat saat Penciptaan.

 

 

However, those who keep the lunar Sabbath say that there is a serious problem with a Friday crucifixion. They say, how could the crucifixion had taken place on Friday when the United States Naval Observatory states that the full moon in the year 31 AD fell on Wednesday? Was Ellen White wrong when she stated that the crucifixion took place on Friday? And if Ellen White was right, was the Naval Observatory wrong? It bears asking.

Lunisolar advocates claim to have an iron clad argument here. They claim that if the crucifixion were on a Friday, then the crucifixion would have been in the year 33AD. See, we have to go all the way  to the year 33 in order for it to be a Friday crucifixion. However, that date does not work because the beginning date of 457 BC for the 70 weeks prophecy is well rooted in history, and the year 33 AD would take us beyond the “middle of the last week”.

Are you understanding my point?

Besides, we would have to move the 1844 date to 1846, which would impugn the Advent movement and the reliability of the Spirit of Prophecy. Lunisolar advocates see only one solution to the  problem: The crucifixion took place at evening on a Wednesday and the resurrection took place at evening on a Sabbath. However, the proposed solution still creates a problem because it still impugns the reliability of the Spirit of Prophecy.

 

Namun, mereka yang memelihara Sabat lunar mengatakan ada masalah serius dengan penyaliban pada hari Jumat. Mereka berkata, bagaimana penyaliban bisa terjadi pada hari Jumat, padahal Observatori Maritim Amerika Serikat menyatakan bahwa di tahun 31 AD, bulan purnama jatuh pada hari Rabu? Apakah Ellen White salah ketika dia menyatakan bahwa penyaliban terjadi pada hari Jumat? Dan jika Ellen White yang benar, apakah Observatori Maritim Amerika Serikat yang salah? Ini harus dipertanyakan. Pendukung Lunisolar mengklaim mereka punya argumentasi yang tidak terbantahkan di sini. Mereka mengklaim bahwa jika penyaliban terjadi pada hari Jumat, maka penyaliban itu harus terjadi di tahun 33AD. Lihat, kita harus pergi ke tahun 33 untuk mendapatkan penyaliban di hari Jumat. Namun, tanggal itu tidak cocok karena penghitungan awal nubuatan 70 Sabat (70 Minggu) di tahun 457 BC  sudah sangat berakar dalam sejarah, dan tahun 33AD akan membawa kita melampaui “pertengahan tujuh masa itu” (tujuh masa = tujuh tahun ~ Dan 9:27). Apakah kalian paham poin saya?

Selain itu, kita harus memindahkan tahun 1844 ke 1846 yang akan melemahkan gerakan Advent dan ketepatan Roh Nubuat. Pendukung Lunisolar hanya melihat satu solusi untuk problem ini: Penyaliban terjadi pada petang hari Rabu dan kebangkitan terjadi pada petang hari Sabat. Namun demikian, solusi yang diberikan ini masih menimbulkan masalah karena itu masih melemahkan ketepatan Roh Nubuat.

 

 

There is another probable solution to the problem. According to Ellen White ~ this is found in this book by the way, very perceptive comment ~ according to Ellen White, Jesus arrived in the home of Lazarus in Bethany six days before the Passover. Six days would take us from Friday evening to Wednesday evening using our reckoning of days ~ because she says He arrived just before the beginning of the Sabbath, okay? So six days would take us in our way of reckoning days from Friday evening to when? To Wednesday evening. 

However, in biblical terms Friday evening is really what? Sabbath evening. So the six days begin on Sabbath evening and end when?  On Thursday evening. Are you with me or not? See, we are reckoning according to the biblical reckoning, the evening comes before the morning.

Ellen White in The Desire of Ages pg 557 writes,  “The Savior had reached Bethany only six days before the Passover, and according to His custom had sought rest at the home of Lazarus. The crowds of travelers who passed on to the city spread the tidings that He was on His way to Jerusalem, and that He would rest over the Sabbath at Bethany.” So now we know that He arrived Friday evening according to our reckoning.

Now, so according to our calculation of days, six days would take us to what night? Would take us to Wednesday evening as the first day of the Full Moon. Therefore, if the Passover and the Full Moon occurred on the same day, it would appear that the Naval Observatory was correct and Ellen White was wrong.

 

Ada solusi lain yang mungkin pas untuk masalah itu. Menurut Ellen White ~ ini ditemukan di buku ini, komen yang sangat perseptif ~ menurut Ellen Whie, Yesus tiba di rumah Lazarus di Betani enam hari sebelum Passah. Enam hari akan membawa kita dari Jumat petang ke (Jumat-Sabtu-Minggu-Senin-Selasa-Rabu) Rabu petang menurut cara kita menghitung hari ~ karena Ellen White berkata Yesus tiba beberapa saat sebelum Sabat dimulai, oke? Jadi enam hari menurut cara kita menghitung hari, membawa kita dari Jumat petang ke kapan? Ke Rabu petang.

Namun demikian, menurut perhitungan alkitabiah, Jumat petang (cara hitung kita) sebenarnya ialah kapan? Malam Sabat. Maka enam hari itu dihitung dari malam Sabat dan berakhirnya kapan? Malam Kamis. Apakah kalian memahami saya atau tidak? Lihat, kita sekarang menghitungnya menurut cara Alkitab, yaitu malam dulu sebelum pagi.

Di The Desire of Ages hal. 557,   Ellen White menulis, “Sang Juruselamat mencapai Betani hanya enam hari sebelum Passah, dan menurut kebiasaanNya, Dia mencari tumpangan di rumah Lazarus. Orang-orang yang berdatangan yang melanjutkan perjalanan ke kota Yerusalem, menyebarkan berita bahwa Yesus dalam perjalanan ke Yerusalem, dan bahwa Dia akan beristirahat selama hari Sabat di Betani.”

Jadi sekarang kita tahu bahwa Yesus tiba (di Betani) Jumat malam menurut cara kita menghitung. Nah, menurut kalkulasi kita, enam hari akan membawa kita ke malam apa? Ke Rabu malam, sebagai hari pertama bulan purnama. Karena itu, jika Passah dan bulan purnama terjadi pada hari yang sama, sepertinya Observatori Maritim yang benar dan Ellen White yang salah.

 

 

However, before we attempt to correct Ellen White’s seeming inaccuracy we must consider several factors: First, in biblical times the incidence of the New Moon was based on observation, not by astronomical charts. If the New Moon was not sighted at the start of the month, the start of the month was delayed. In other words, if the observed New Moon in Christ’s day were just one day later than the Naval Observatory’s calculated date, the beginning of the month would be delayed, and if it were delayed during Passion Week for just one day, the Passover would have been celebrated on what we call what? Thursday night. Remember our study about the three days and the three nights? When do the three days and three nights begin? They begin on Thursday night, that’s when the Passion of Jesus begins. But Thursday night is really Friday night, Friday evening according to the biblical calculation.

Ellen White makes this very interesting observation in The Desire of Ages, pg. 685 “In company with His disciples, the Savior slowly made His way to the garden of Gethsemane. The Passover moon, broad and full, shone from a cloudless sky.”  So, if this is on a Thursday, you have what? A full moon. But the Naval Observatory states that the full moon was when? It was on Wednesday night. So we got a problem? Not really.

How could Ellen White say that the moon was ‘broad and full’ on Thursday evening (Friday evening according to biblical reckoning) when the USNO states that the Full Moon took place on Wednesday evening which would be Thursday evening according to our reckoning?

 

Namun sebelum kita mencoba mengoreksi kemungkinan ketidaktepatan Ellen White, kita harus mempertimbangkan beberapa faktor dulu: Pertama, di zaman Alkitab, peristiwa Bulan Baru ditentukan oleh penampakan, bukan oleh perhitungan astronomi. Jika Bulan Baru tidak tampak pada awal bulan itu, maka awal bulannya diundur. Dengan kata lain, jika bulan baru yang dilihat di zaman Kristus itu berbeda satu hari lebih lambat daripada tanggal yang dihitung oleh Observatory Maritim, maka awal bulan itu akan diundur. Dan jika di minggu Kesengsaraan Kristus awal bulan itu hanya diundur satu hari, maka Passah akan dirayakan pada hari yang kita sebut apa? Kamis malam. Ingat pelajaran kita tentang tiga hari dan tiga malam? Kapan tiga hari-tiga malam ini mulai dihitung? Dimulai pada hari Kamis malam, saat itulah Kesengsaraan Yesus dimulai. Tetapi Kamis malam sebenarnya ialah malam Jumat menurut perhitungan Alkitab.

Ellen White membuat observasi yang sangat menarik ini di The Desire of Ages, hal. 685, “Ditemani murid-muridNya, Juruselamat perlahan-lahan menuju ke taman Getsemani. Bulan Passah, besar dan bundar, bersinar dari langit yang tidak berawan.” Jadi, jika ini terjadi pada hari Kamis, apa yang ada? Bulan purnama. Tetapi Observatory Maritim menyatakan bahwa bulan purnama itu kapan? Rabu malam. Maka ada masalah? Sesungguhnya tidak.

Bagaimana Ellen White bisa berkata bahwa bulan itu besar dan bundar pada Kamis malam (yaitu malam Jumat menurut perhitungan Alkitab) ketika Observatori Maritim menyatakan bahwa bulan purnama terjadi Rabu malam, yang adalah malam Kamis menurut perhitungan kita?

 

 

The answer is that, considered scientifically ~ and you can investigate this, go to Google ~ the moon can be considered broad and full for around 72 hours, the night before and the night after the official day of the Full Moon. Could it have been possible for the Passion of Christ to occur on Friday evening biblical reckoning (but Thursday evening according to our reckoning) with the Full Moon still occurring on Wednesday evening according to our reckoning? Yes. “Reputable astronomers have gone on the record that astronomical calculations must take into account local observations at the time that the historical events occurred.” By the way you can read those statements from reputable astronomers in this book The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy pages 113-115. They are there. Officially these astronomers that say you can’t calculate only on the basis of charts because you don’t know whether the lunar celebration was delayed one day because of observation.

 

Jawabannya ialah, menurut pertimbangan ilmiah ~ dan kalian bisa memeriksa ini, pergilah ke Google ~ bulan bisa dianggap besar dan bundar (purnama) selama sekitar 72 jam, di malam sebelumnya dan malam setelah hari bulan purnama yang resmi. Mungkinkah Kesengsaraan Kristus itu terjadi pada malam Jumat menurut perhitungan Alkitab, (tetapi Kamis malam menurut perhitungan kita) sementara bulan purnama tetap terjadi pada Rabu malam perhitungan kita? Ya!  “Para astrolog yang ternama telah membuat catatan bahwa perhitungan astronomi harus mempertimbangkan juga apa yang terlihat secara lokal pada waktu peristiwa bersejarah itu terjadi.”

Ketahuilah, kalian bisa membaca perny

ataan-pernyataan dari astrolog-astrolog ternama itu di buku  The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy hal. 113-115.  Ada di sana. Secara resmi para astrolog mengatakan, orang tidak bisa menghitung hanya berdasarkan kalkulasi di atas kertas, karena tidak ada yang tahu apakah berdasarkan penampakan, perayaan lunar waktu itu diundur satu hari atau tidak.

 

 

Now, Ellen White has written that the abomination of desolation has a two-fold application. The first is to the Roman armies that surrounded Jerusalem and rendered worship to their standards. The second is when the United States imposes the day of worship of the papacy, Sunday. I want to read her statements in The Testimonies for the Church, volume 5, pp. 464, 465, where she makes the comparison between these two events: “As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath will be a warning for us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains.”

The lunisolar advocates have a different take on this. In this book The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy, two individuals who uphold the idea of a lunisolar Sabbath are quoted. 

“Jesus Himself referred to this calendar change—both when it occurred under the rising influence of the papacy and when it will be done again in the last generation.”

So what are these lunisolar advocates saying? They are saying that really the change in the Law of God was the change from a lunar calculation of the Sabbath to a solar calculation of the Sabbath. Is that the change of the Sabbath?

Ellen White repeatedly, folks, tell us that the change of the Sabbath was not a change in the calendar from a lunar calendar to a solar calendar. The change is the change from the seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week, as the day of rest.

And of course lunisolar advocates would take Daniel 7:25 “he shall think to change the times”, and they say, see that is the change from a lunar calendar to a solar calendar.

 

 

Nah, Ellen White telah menulis  bahwa kekejian yang mengakibatkan penelantaran itu punya aplikasi ganda. Yang pertama ialah tentara Roma yang mengepung Yerusalem dan sujud menyembah panji-panji mereka. Yang kedua ialah ketika Amerika Serikat memaksakan suatu hari ibadah yang berasal dari Kepausan: hari Minggu. Saya mau membaca pernyataannya di The Testimonies for the Church, volume 5, hal. 464, 465,  di mana Ellen White membuat perbandingan antara kedua peristiwa tersebut. “Sementara pengepungan Yerusalem oleh tentara Roma menjadi sinyal bagi orang-orang Kristen di Yudea untuk lari, demikian pula tampilnya kekuasaan bangsa kita dengan surat perintah yang menjalankan sabat Kepausan, harus menjadi sinyal bagi kita. Saat itulah waktunya untuk meninggalkan kota-kota besar, dan bersiap-siap untuk meninggalkan kota-kota yang lebih kecil ke tempat-tempat yang sepi di daerah-daera terpencil di antara gunung-gunung.”

Pendukung lunisolar punya pendapat yang lain tentang hal ini. Dalam buku ini The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy,  ada kutipan dua orang pendukung Sabat lunisolar: “Yesus sendiri menyinggung perubahan penanggalan ini ~ baik ketika terjadi di bawah meningkatnya pengaruh Kepausan dan sekali lagi ketika itu akan terjadi  di masa generasi yang terakhir.”    

Jadi apa yang dikatakan pendukung-pendukung lunisolar ini? Mereka bilang, sesungguhnya perubahan Hukum Allah adalah perubahan perhitungan Sabat dari perhitungan secara lunar menjadi perhitungan secara solar. Itukah perubahan Sabatnya?

Saudara-saudara, Ellen White berulang-ulang menyampaikan kepada kita bahwa perubahan Sabat bukanlah perubahan penanggalannya dari kalender lunar menjadi kalender solar. Perubahannya ialah perubahan dari Sabat hari ketujuh menjadi hari pertama dalam minggu sebagai hari perhentian.

Dan tentu saja pendukung-pendukung lunisolar memakai Daniel 7:25,  “Ia akan berniat (berpikir) untuk mengubah waktu”  dan mereka berkata, lihat itu perubahan dari kalender lunar ke kalender solar.

 

 

They take Daniel 8:11 and they say that the “daily” that is taken away is the taking away of the lunar calendar, implementing the solar calendar.

And they have a very novel way  also of interpreting Daniel 9:27 ~ you can read all of this in this book The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy.

 

Mereka memakai Daniel 8:11 dan mereka berkata bahwa yang “sehari-hari” yang disingkirkan ialah disingkirkannya kalender lunar dan memberlakukan kalender solar.

Dan mereka punya cara yang sangat canggih mengartikan Daniel 9:27 ~ kalian bisa membaca semua ini di buku  The Lunar Sabbath Conspiracy.

 

 

Now, one final point that I want us to deal with and that is the integrity of the Spirit of Prophecy. Using the lunisolar calendar to determine the Sabbath is far from being insignificant. Now, when it comes to keeping the Feasts ~ you know I mentioned that there are some leeway, you know I have no objection if an individual wants to in the privacy of their home to have a little Feast celebration as long as they don’t say that it is mandated by God and that whoever does not keep the Feasts is lost. I would not say the same about the lunisolar Sabbath because this is a clear violation of the true day of worship that God has established. So it’s not insignificant. It impugns the inspiration and reliability of the Spirit of Prophecy.

It is one thing to say ~ listen carefully ~  that new light enlarges and expands upon the old light, but it is quite another to say that the new light contradicts the old light. And this is what the lunisolar Sabbath advocates are doing.  They are saying Ellen White did not have all the light. So, yeah she said, you know Christ was crucified on Friday, she was completely wrong, she did not have all the light. She did say the day begins at sunset, you know she didn’t have all the light. It begins at sunrise.

So you are putting an issue at the inspiration of the Spirit of Prophecy.

In Selected Messages volume 1, pg. 161,  Ellen White wrote, “When the power of God testifies as to what is truth, that truth is to stand forever as the truth. No after suppositions contrary to the light God has given are to be entertained. Men will arise with interpretations of Scripture which are to them truth, but which are not truth. The truth for this time God has given us as a foundation for our faith. He Himself has taught us what is truth. One will arise, and still another, with new light, which contradicts the light that God has given under the demonstration of His Holy Spirit.”

Very clear isn’t it?

 

Sekarang, satu poin terakhir yang saya mau kita bahas ialah integritas Roh Nubuat. Memakai kalender lunisolar untuk menentukan Sabat itu bukan masalah yang sepele. Nah, kalau soal memelihara Perayaan-perayaan, kalian tahu, saya pernah menyinggung bahwa masih ada celah, yah, saya tidak keberatan jika ada yang mau mengadakan suatu perayaan kecil di dalam lingkungan tertutup rumahnya sendiri, selama dia tidak mengatakan bahwa itu diharuskan Allah dan mereka yang tidak memelihara Perayaan-perayaan itu, tidak selamat. Namun saya tidak akan berkata yang sama tentang Sabat lunar karena itu jelas-jelas adalah pelanggaran hari ibadah yang sejati yang telah ditentukan Allah. Jadi ini bukan hal sepele. Ini merendahkan inspirasi dan ketepatan Roh Nubuat.

Dengarkan baik-baik, mengatakan bahwa terang yang baru memperbesar dan memperluas terang lama itu satu hal, tetapi mengatakan bahwa terang baru itu adalah kontradiksi dengan terang lama, itu hal yang lain. Dan inilah yang dilakukan para pendukung Sabat lunar. Mereka mengatakan Ellen White tidak memiliki seluruh terang. Jadi, yah Ellen White berkata Kristus disalibkan hari Jumat, dia sama sekali salah. Dia tidak memiliki seluruh terang. Ellen White mengatakan hari itu dimulai saat matahari terbenam, dia tidak memiliki seluruh terang. Hari itu dimulai saat matahari terbit. Jadi mereka membuat masalah atas inspirasi Roh Nubuat.

Di Selected Messages volume 1, hal. 161   Ellen White menulis, “Ketika kuasa Allah memberi kesaksian tentang suatu kebenaran, maka kebenaran tersebut selamanya tetap berdiri sebagai kebenaran. Tidak ada pengandaian di kemudian hari mengenai terang  yang telah diberikan Allah, yang boleh dilayani. Akan bangkit manusia-manusia yang menginterpretasi Kitab Suci menurut pendapat mereka sebagai kebenaran, tetapi yang sebenarnya bukan kebenaran. Kebenaran untuk masa kini telah diberikan Allah kepada kita menjadi fondasi iman kita. Allah sendiri yang telah mengajari kita apa itu kebenaran. Akan muncul satu orang, dan orang lain dengan terang baru yang mengkontradiksi terang yang telah diberikan Allah di bawah demonstrasi Roh KudusNya.”

Jelas sekali, bukan?

 

 

Just as serious, the lunisolar Sabbath obscures the true meaning of the Third Angel’s Message. The Third Angel‘S Message tells us that only those who have the seal of God will stand in the time of trouble, while the lost will have the mark of the Beast. Thus, keeping the wrong day has serious salvational implications. In addition, this does not apply only to those who keep Sunday but also to those who keep the wrong Sabbath. Ellen White has made clear that the final test will be between the Sabbath, that is Saturday the seventh day of the week,  and Sunday the first day of the week. It is not between keeping a solar Sabbath and keeping a lunar Sabbath. That is not the issue.

 

Sama seriusnya, Sabat lunisolar memudarkan makna sesungguhnya dari Pekabaran Malaikat Ketiga. Pekabaran Malaikat Ketiga mengatakan kepada kita bahwa hanya mereka yang memiliki meterai Allah yang akan tahan berdiri di masa kesusahan, sementara mereka yang tidak selamat akan mendapat tanda Binatang. Maka, memelihara hari yang salah, mempunyai implikasi serius dalam hal keselamatan. Tambahan lagi ini tidak hanya berlaku atas mereka yang memelihara hari Minggu tetapi juga atas mereka yang memelihara hari Sabat yang salah. Ellen White telah membuatnya sangat jelas bahwa ujian terakhir adalah antara Sabat, yaitu Sabtu hari ketujuh dari setiap minggu, dengan hari Minggu, hari pertama dari minggu itu. Bukan antara memelihara Sabat solar dan Sabat lunar. Itu bukan isunya.

 

 

She wrote in Review and Herald July 6, 1897:  “The man of sin has exalted Sunday; but whatever has been done in the change of the fourth commandment, has been done without God's sanction, and is in direct opposition to His express commands. What we all need is truth--plain, simple, unvarnished truth--that will sanctify the soul. Many will advance theories in regard to the change of the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day of the week…”   so what was the change in the Sabbath? It was changed from a lunar calendar to a solar calendar, right? No, of course it wasn’t. She says the change was what?    “…Many will advance theories in regard to the change of the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day of the week, but God has made positive declarations in regard to the sacredness of the Sabbath instituted at Eden and proclaimed from Mount Sinai, and a penalty is attached to the disregard and dishonor of the seventh day of the week.” Clear? Crystal, right?

 

Ellen White menulis di  Review and Herald Juli 6, 1897:  “Manusia durhaka telah meninggikan hari Minggu, tetapi perubahan apa pun yang telah dilakukan pada perintah keempat itu, telah dilakukan tanpa persetujuan Allah, dan berlawanan langsung dengan perintah Allah yang jelas. Apa yang kita perlukan ialah kebenaran ~ yang murni, sederhana, tanpa ditambahi apa-apa ~ yang akan menyucikan jiwa. Banyak orang akan mengajukan teori sehubungan dengan perubahan Sabat dari hari ketujuh ke hari pertama dari minggu itu…” jadi apa perubahan Sabat? Sabat diubah dari kalender lunar ke kalender solar, betul? Tidak, tentu saja bukan! Ellen White bilang perubahan itu apa?  “…Banyak orang akan mengajukan teori sehubungan dengan perubahan Sabat dari hari ketujuh ke hari pertama dari minggu itu, tetapi Allah telah membuat deklarasi yang jelas sehubungan dengan kekudusan Sabat yang ditentukan di Eden, dan yang dikumandangkan dari gunung Sinai, dan adanya sanksi yang dikenakan atas ketidakpedulian dan ketidakhormatan kepada hari ketujuh dalam mingguan itu.” Jelas? Jelas sekali, bukan?

 

 

Now, here’s a question. Has God made the  observance of the Sabbath such a complicated matter that we are required to look at charts, consult the Naval Observatory, and look at the phases of the moon in order to know when to keep it? No! God has made Sabbath observance very simple: Look for sunset on Friday to know when the Sabbath begins and look for sunset on Sabbath to know when  the Sabbath ends. It is that simple.

 

Sekarang, ada pertanyaan. Apakah Allah membuat pemeliharaan Sabat hal yang begitu rumit sehingga kita perlu memeriksa segala skema, berkonsultasi dengan Observatory Maritim, dan memandang bentuk bulan untuk mengetahui kapan kita harus memeliharanya? Tidak! Allah telah membuat pemeliharaan Sabat itu sangat sederhana: lihat ke matahari terbenam pada hari Jumat untuk mengetahui kapan Sabat mulai, dan lihat ke matahari terbenam pada hari Sabat untuk tahu kapan Sabat berakhir. Sesederhana itu.

 

 

Were  you able to follow what we studied? We took the main points, the principle points. I would recommend that you struggle through this book. It has a lot of things that is not like reading Time magazine, we can put it that way. It is not like reading you know something like a story or something like that, it has some in-depth analysis  of this idea of the lunisolar calendar.

 

Apakah kalian bisa mengikuti apa yang kita pelajari? Kita ambil titik-titik pokoknya, titik-titik prinsipnya. Saya merekomendasikan kalian bergumul dengan isi buku ini. Isinya banyak dan katakanlah, tidak seperti membaca majalah Time, tidak seperti membaca  sebuah cerita atau apa, tetapi ini memiliki analisa yang mendalam tentang konsep kalender lunisolar itu.

 

 

And so, now is the time to cry because our class is over. Or perhaps it is a time to shout for joy over everything that we  have learned. I just want to say it has been a real pleasure to have all of you here. This year our class size was smaller, we didn’t have as many people. I think last year we had pretty much the maximum. I think we had over 50 individuals here last year and I assume part of the guilt because probably we cannot give this class the title that would be attractive. May be we need to make it more sensational, you know people love sensational stuff. But  then   if you don’t give them sensational stuff then they are all disappointed. So may be we ought to go back to the drawing board and simply you know amplify a little bit more about what we are going to study.

It’s been a real pleasure having you here. Thank you for being patient and coming for the classes four hours a day for the last several days. I will remember all of you. It will be more difficult because you changed places, you are not at the same place all the time which would be much easier. But anyway may God bless all of you and we hope to see you again next year. Some people are wondering what is the subject of study next year? Next year we are going to study ~ Lord willing ~ by popular vote I might say, we are going to take a look at the parables of Jesus that refer to the end-time. There are many of them. The parable of the ten virgins, the parable of the banquet in Matthew 22, many of the parables of Jesus, even the parable of the lost sheep is a parable that deals with end-time events. So next year our class, our 24 hours of instruction will be around this same time period, in fact I already have the date, I will let you know the date before you leave. We are going to study these parables of Jesus from a prophetic perspective. It’s going to be an engaging exciting experience. I would ask you to return to your churches and talk of what happened here. Tell, “Man, it’s really worthwhile going.” Encourage people to come to the class next year. You know, your enthusiasm will rub off. The best advertising is what kind of advertising? The best kind of advertising is word of mouth, right, then? Absolutely. And so please talk to people and let them know about Anchor Class and I hope that next year we will have a totally full house here to study this very important subject on the parables of Jesus and the end time. Let us bow our heads for prayer.

 

Maka sekarang adalah saatnya untuk menangis karena kelas kita sudah berakhir. Atau barangkali ini saatnya untuk bersorak gembira atas segala yang telah kita pelajari? Saya hanya ingin mengatakan, menyenangkan benar kalian semua ada di sini. Tahun ini ukuran kelas kita lebih kecil, tidak ada begitu banyak orang. Saya pikir tahun lalu kita mencapai maksimumnya, saya pikir tahun lalu ada sekitar 50 orang di sini, dan sebagian adalah kesalahan saya karena kami tidak bisa memberikan judul yang menarik untuk kelas ini. Barangkali kami harus membuat judulnya lebih sensasional, kalian tahu orang-orang menyukai hal-hal yang sensasional, tetapi jika kami tidak bisa menyajikan hal-hal yang sensasional, mereka semua akan kecewa. Jadi barangkali kami sebaiknya kembali ke program yang ada tapi, kalian tahu, memberikan lebih banyak keterangan tentang apa yang akan kita pelajari.

Sungguh menyenangkan kalian ada di sini. Terima kasih untuk kesabaran dan kehadiran kalian ke kelas-kelas kita empat jam sehari selama beberapa hari. Saya akan mengingat kalian semua. Memang lebih sulit karena kalian sering bertukar tempat duduk, kalian tidak selalu ada di tempat yang sama yang lebih memudahkan. Tetapi, bagaimana pun semoga Allah memberkati kalian semua dan kami berharap bertemu kembali tahun depan.

Ada yang ingin tahu apa topik pelajaran tahun depan? Tahun depan kita akan mempelajari ~ insya Allah, melalui pilihan terbanyak ~ kita akan melihat perumpamaan-perumpamaan Yesus yang mengacu ke akhir zaman. Ada banyak. Perumpamaan sepuluh anak dara, perumpamaan pesta di Matius 22, banyak perupamaan Yesus bahkan perumpamaan tentang domba yang hilang adalah perumpamaan yang berbicara tentang peristiwa akhir zaman. Jadi tahun depan kelas kita, 24 jam pembelajaran kita kira-kira diadakan pada waktu yang sama, malah saya sudah punya tanggalnya dan saya akan beritahukan kalian tanggalnya sebelum kalian pulang. Kita akan mempelajari perumpamaan-perumpaan Yesus ini dari perspektif nubuatan. Pasti itu akan menjadi pengalaman yang menarik.

Saya mohon ketika kalian kembali ke gereja masing-masing, beritahukan apa yang telah terjadi di sini. Sampaikan, “Bro, ini sungguh layak dihadiri.” Doronglah orang-orang untuk datang ke kelas ini tahun depan. Kalian tahu, antusiasme kalian akan menular. Iklan yang terbaik itu iklan yang bagaimana? Iklan terbaik adalah berita dari mulut ke mulut, benar? Betul sekali. Jadi, bicaralah kepada orang-orang dan biarlah mereka tahu tentang Anchor Class dan saya berharap tahun depan kelas kita ini akan penuh untuk mempelajari topik yang sangat penting mengenai perumpamaan-perumpamaan Yesus dan akhir zaman.
